so, i kept the tab from the drink can for months wondering what to do with it and finally decided to put it on a chain to make a necklace

genitalia is not inherently sexual but tiktokers think it is (VERY wrongly) because they’re all for purity culture over there. maybe it can make some people uncomfortable but… it’s your body. want what you want and don’t want what you don’t want. it doesn’t affect them in ANY way and it’s easy to just block and scroll.

ive also seen tiktokers claim animal packers are zoophilia which is a disgusting claim and utterly false. if an real physical right-here animal is not harmed or made to endure sexual acts, it’s not zoophilia, plain and simple. anybeing can get a packer if they want one. doesnt make them “gross” or “weird”.

Even though i've found tumblr to be fairly accepting of having bottom dysphoria regarding species, i still feel very ashamed of it :'3 I don't open up much about it

But it's true, my body is supposed to have canid genitalia, sheath and all, but it doesn't and that makes me sad, and if there was a way to get one physically on my body I would. Honestly I like this post but I don’t think the community has gotten better, per se. I think it’s just changed. There are lots of new people, but the same problems of infighting and disrespect remain. There are new apps we can go on but outside hate still finds us.

The community may be a little more tolerant towards each other and everybeing’s different experiences but in my firsthand experience as a physical alterhuman (and a bunch of other niche labels even for this community), there is still a LOT of hate and fighting within our community unfortunately.

So, this might actually be a controversial take, but i feel like if anything the Therian and Otherkin communities have improved A LOT

I always see posts talking about how much the community sucks these days and all the discourse going on etc. I talk about this often too, But actually looking back and doing research has opened my eyes honestly.

By looking up old forums and also thinking about the first time i interacted in some ways with the communities i've realized that we've become much more accepting as a whole.

There's so many posts from years ago that talk about how physical alterhumans aren't welcome, how Otherkin is mainly a spiritual belief, i've seen posts about how "Therians don't actually believe they're animals" "we know we're human we just feel connected" (Posts from 2012-2015 btw)

Also users hating on other users for having more "intense" shifts such as wanting to howl or chase something.

I genuinely feel like it's much more chill today, if you say you're physically a wolf, then you're physically a wolf. Ofc there's always gonna be someone hating but i fear that's just the internet

I also remember that in like 2013-2014 i was in my first ever Forum that was full of folks that identified as wolves on different levels, what i also remember very well tho is the constant fighting. Some users got mad at others for lying about physically shifting, others told us to "stop roleplaying" all together.

During that time i also remember that if you were anything other than a wolf you were either not valid or were practically kicked out of the forum.

I also have this memory of someone in the forum asking if they can still be a wolf even tho they're a poc and basically being told 'nah' (not saying this isn't a thing anymore today, it just seemed to be worse back then, correct me if i'm mistaken please)

With all that being said, despite all the stuff that is STILL going on in the community i gotta give the current community props for being a lot more open and accepting!

Does there still need to be a lot more inclusiveness and work done? ABSOLUTELY

Is the current state of the community better than a lot of it from the past tho? YEAH honestly

The only real issue I have with it is the connotation that otherpaws are just therians that dont ACTUALLY think they’re animals. It’s giving “I’m one of the normal ones! I don’t REALLY believe I’m an animal!” which I see a lot on Tiktok

To be honest I’ve only ever seen people under 12/13 identify as an otherpaw and I don’t really think they understand… it’s a normal kid thing to roleplay and play pretend? It’s not an identity. It’s a thing almost every kid does

In the end I don’t really care that much, I don’t know any otherpaws and my personal opinion doesn’t matter much in the grand scheme of things, but… yeah. Idk. It feels a little… “trend hopper”-y

There’s nothing wrong with kids having fun but putting a non-identity label in an identity-based community it feels a little wrong. It’s a mix of hobbies and it’s fine to have a name for that specific mix of hobbies but it’s not an identity and shouldnt be treated as one or use ANOTHER identity as a “stepping stone” to name something else

Anyways this’ll get flamed I know it but yeah. Wanted to give my opinion on it

i dislike otherpaws so much. it feels as though they just stole our entire identity and gave a big 'fuck you' to the actual identity part of it. i've tried being nice to them, but the countless otherpaws that try shoving themselves into *our* spaces when they don't belong here is exhausting. this is definitely a hot-take, but i do not care. otherpaws are mask makers, quadrobists, and interested in animals; the fact their definition is nearly always 'therianthropy without the identity part' is sickening and vile.

i’ve said this before and i’m saying it again: this community is fucking FULL of ableism. against beings with delusions/psychosis/other mental disorders, against physically disabled beings… it doesn’t matter. theres more ableism in this community than any other i’ve seen in a long time. not to mention racism and sexism.

I think non-psychotic therians should stay out of psychotic therian affairs. Every time I see a therian who obviously doesn't suffer delusions talk about how they think psychotic therians should handle our reality, it just makes me think they hate psychotic people.
