Try Defying Gravity
A Twisters fanfiction
Author's Note: I'm back!!!
I'm so, so sorry for the hiatus and long wait for this chapter! I got super busy with school, then right after I got out, I went on vacation, then basically unwinded for all of May. Then, I started summer classes in early June. Luckily, since I'm ahead of things in class, I have a grace period.
Additionally, I have been writing drafts for other stories I want to create. I have two of them in mind. One I've mentioned before, and the other is a new one. The new one is based on a Netflix show I thought I would never watch, but somehow ended up watching and liking how messy and chaotic it is. And that show is XO, Kitty. I honestly thought I would thoroughly hate this show, based on what people say about it. While the arguments about it are very well founded, I can't help but be entertained by this chaotic show. And also because Minho is so damn hot! 😍♥️
So, I'm writing a draft for that. I already have a story I'm going to write up.
Back to this story. This was a very hard chapter to write. Not because I couldn't choose a scenario like for Chapter 4, but because I was too busy to write anything. But, here it is! Luckily, the next two chapters should be pretty easy to write! I can't wait to share them when they're done!
Hope you enjoy the chapter! ♥️
Chapter 5: Twins
The next morning, (Your Name) woke up a little earlier than she expected and got ready. She slipped on a dark gray button-up, soft, black wide legged dress pants, and her fancy combat boots. She brushed her hair and pulled it into a ponytail. After applying a bit of makeup; neutral eyeshadow, and some tinted lip balm, she grabbed a cross bag she used to carry anything for work and left her room.
She saw that everyone, StormPAR and Tyler's crew, were setting up to leave. She approached the StormPAR van, taking glances at Tyler's team as she did and stopped, standing by Javi and Tyler.
“I'm ready to go.” She spoke up.
Scott turned to look at her and he gave her a smile, saying sarcastically. “Good. Glad to see you're listening to your superiors today.”
That smile. That tone of voice. It made (Your Name) want to punch him in the face.
Resisting that urge, she walked closer to Javi. She also got a glimpse of Kate, instantly making her feel better.
“Ready to go?” Javi asked.
(Your Name) replied with a nod, and a smile.
🌀🌪🍃
They arrived at the same designation they were at yesterday.
Everyone was working separately on their own thing. StormPAR doing their thing, and Tyler's team doing their own thing.
Meanwhile, (Your Name) was sitting in the passenger seat. She tried to ask around the team, wanting to help them with anything, but they either politely declined or brushed her off.
She thought about what Tyler told her last night. ‘Are they really that self-centered? Could they be?’ She knew Kate wasn't like that at all. Javi seemed like a nice guy, but considering his deal with StormPAR, not to mention what Kate had told her about what she saw earlier. She remembered that Kate told her that she saw Javi talking with some guy named Riggs about home improvement or something around the area where tornadoes have struck.
(Your Name) thought it sounded odd, considering what StormPAR normally focuses on. But she kept it in the back of her mind for later.
Then, she heard Kate and Javi's voices, and the driver door opened, and Javi sat in the seat. “Ready to go? Kate found a storm!”
With those words, (Your Name) nodded and immediately maneuvered herself into the backseat of the van so Kate could get in. Kate protested that she didn't have to do that, but (Your Name) told her she didn't mind.
Javi stepped on the gas and started to drive down the road, heading in the direction of the storm Kate found. As they drove, Kate and (Your Name) looked up at the clouds; they were starting to darken and form. “It already has a nice structure. Moisture levels are just right, and there is lots of CAPE.” (Your Name) spoke up first, leaning forward from the backseat.
Kate hummed, looking at the darkening clouds. “Flow is clean. Pulling tons of warm, moist air from the south. Here's the mystery, though.” Kate spoke too, not knowing that a certain dirty blonde male was telling his crew the same information at the exact same time as the two girls.
“We actually don't know how a tornado forms. We see the hook on the radar, but-” Kate trailed off, pointing at the screen sitting in front of them. (Your Name) jumped back in, “What are the invisible factors coming together? Every little detail that has to be perfect…. It's pretty incredible actually.”
Kate looked at (Your Name) as she spoke freely. Seeing her friend sharing her thoughts and expressing them openly was nice to see. A big reason why they became friends was because they both thought similarly and seemed to know what the other was thinking. Kate smiled softly and wrapped her arm around (Your Name)’s shoulders. The action made the (Hair Color) haired girl smile back and return the favor.
Javi smiled at the sight, but it went back to a serious expression when the spiraling clouds started going down, forming a tiny funnel. “Come on, come on, come.” He muttered hopefully. Just then, the tiny funnel got longer and touched the ground. “There it is. Yeah, baby!”
The two girls broke away from their embrace and gazed in amazement at the sight of not one but two tornadoes rotating around each other.
“Go faster.” Kate told Javi, patting his arm. Javi whooped as he did.
“You ready?” Javi asked Kate.
“Let's get our data.” The two do their friendship handshake.
Tyler's truck pulled up from the side to the trio’s vehicle. From behind his window, he gave a charming smile to the trio before winking at (Your Name) before speeding off. (Your Name) shook her head in amusement at Tyler.
“Come on Javi.” Kate told him.
“All right, guys, stop playing these games. Let's cut these guys off.” Javi sped up and managed to get around Tyler. As the two vehicles drove beside each other, Kate and (Your Name) both twirled their fingers like how Tyler does on his channel. For (Your Name), she added a cheeky smile to the mix before Javi sped up, making them miss Tyler's playful smirk at the (Hair Color) haired girl.
Kate and (Your Name) whooped.
“Alright, which one is going to stay?”
“Let's go to the right.” Kate replied. (Your Name) hummed in agreement, nodding.
But as they looked out the window to gauge the storms, Kate and (Your Name) suddenly felt a shift. They saw wheat swaying in the opposite direction of the wind that hit the plant gently. At the same time, they exclaimed, “Go left!”
“What?”
“Take a left!” The two exclaimed again.
Quickly following their instructions, Javi quickly turned left. As Javi and Kate watched the road, (Your Name) took a look out the window. She saw Tyler's crew going to the right. She looked at the twister in the direction and saw it was slowly disappearing. Excited, she patted Javi on the back of his shoulder.
“Javi! Look!”
Hearing (Your Name), Javi looked at where she was pointing through his side mirror. Kate decided to look, too. Just then, the twister to the right disappears.
The three laughed and cheered as it did.
“That was amazing, you two! How did you know?” Javi exclaimed with excitement.
“See the wheat? Winds move the right. It's just what this one needed.” Kate replied.
The trio stopped their car right by the tornado. Javi gave (Your Name) some goggles, and the three got out of the car. The wind blew hard as the trio quickly set up the equipment. While Javi finished up, (Your Name) took a short glance at the twister. Seeing it was quickly approaching, she quickly patted Javi's back, “You ready?!” “Yes!” Javi finished, and the three of them backed away as the twister neared them and got into the truck. Javi backed up the truck. Suddenly, the radar was lifted into the twister.
“Javi! It's turning fast!”
Javi tried to get in contact with the rest of the team, but (Your Name) didn't hear him. Her rapid heartbeat drowned out any sound that wasn't the twister.
Javi drove backward, looking behind him so he could see where he was going. (Your Name) watched the tornado rip through the field. She started to breathe heavily and gripped the car seat. She wanted to grab onto the harness on her body but quickly realized that she wasn't in Tyler's truck. She wished she was in this situation.
Suddenly, she heard something smashing into the back of the truck, making her yell in surprise.
“What was that?” Kate asked.
Javi replied, “I think I just killed some chickens.”
The tornado got closer and closer, picking up speed and seemingly getting bigger. (Your Name) felt her anxiety rise up to the surface and she started to panic, breathing shakily and heavily.
Suddenly, Javi purposely drove into a ditch. The twister roared right over them. Kate and Javi covered their ears and ducked their heads. (Your Name) covered her ears too and curled up into a ball, her breathing heavy as her body shook, the howling wind drowned out her whimpers of fear.
This is it. She was going to die. She was going to die this time.
But just as it was there, the tornado was gone. The trio uncovered themselves and looked around. Kate turned to (Your Name) who was now hugging herself.
“You okay, (Your Name)?” She asked, placing a hand on the girl's knee comfortingly.
(Your Name) only nodded before swallowing and sighed shakily.
As Kate turned her attention back to Javi, (Your Name) looked out the windows to survey the area. The field was torn up. Tree branches, big and small everywhere, power lines were knocked over, and she saw a carved out path where the tornado was.
She leaned against the back of the car seat and placed a hand on her chest, feeling her heartbeat. It was thankfully calming down. The pounding in her ears disappeared, allowing her to hear properly again. Just in time to hear Kate and Javi talking about driving somewhere.
“Where are we going?” She asked.
“A town's been hit. We're heading over.” Kate told her.
At those words, (Your Name) wondered how bad it was.
🌀🌪🍃
Turns out, it was very bad.
Worse than she thought.
When they arrived at the site, the truck stopped and and the trio got out. Everything was in ruin. Houses demolished; the pieces of homes, whether wood or metal, were thrown all over the place. The familiar carved path left by the tornado was there, too. People were out and about, looking through the wreckage for anything salvaged by the horrible storm.
The sight of the destruction made (Your Name) freeze and started to breathe heavily, gripping her shirt. The area began to blur and look like that day.
That day five years ago.
Everything in her sight melded into a different scene entirely. She saw it all. The torn up field, branches and other scraps of material scattered all over, and the broken car, lightly splattered in her friends’ blood.
Her breathing became more rapid and she felt her heartbeat in her ears, her anxiety slowly taking over her body.
She shook her head, swallowing hard, and started to take deep breaths to try to ground herself. She closed her eyes, trying to rid the past memory she was remembering.
When she opened her eyes again, the torn up field was gone. It was back to being the sight it was before.
She let out a shaky sigh and sniffled. She heard Kate and Javi talking as she started to walk away from the car and into the destruction site, trying to stay as calm and collected as she could. Looking around to see if anyone needed help, she noticed some of Tyler's crew, specifically Dani, Dexter and Lilly, having a stand set up and were giving out something she couldn't quite make out from where she was standing.
She looked the other way and saw Boone and Tyler looking through the wreckage, searching for something. Deciding to approach them, she walked towards them. The two must've heard her coming because they turned around and saw her approaching them. Boone spoke up first, “(Your Name)! There you are. Been wondering about you.” (Your Name) chuckled. “Nice you didn't forget about me, Boone.”
Tyler approached her, too. He noticed her slightly panicked state. He went to ask, but Boone was faster, “You alright there? You look a little pale.”
(Your Name) shook her head. “Oh! Yeah, I'm fine. Just had a run-in with one of the twin twisters before coming here.” She replied.
Concerned, Tyler spoke up, “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
“I'm fine. Thank you.” (Your Name) replied to Tyler with a close mouthed smile. ‘Definitely not.’ She thought to herself. She shook her head before asking, “What are you two doing?”
Tyler, still concerned but deciding to answer, “Someone lost their dog in the chaos.”
(Your Name) frowned a bit. “Oh.” She looked around before looking back at Tyler, “May I… help you look?” She asked shyly.
Tyler smiled gently. “Of course you can. The more help, the better.”
(Your Name) nodded and started to look through the wreckage with Tyler and Boone searching for the missing dog. She carefully treaded through the wreckage as she whistled, hoping the dog could hear it.
As she continued to search with Tyler and Boone, she saw Kate approach them. She hears her and Tyler talking and decides to resume searching. However, she heard the dormant tension beginning to rise in the conversation and decided to listen in. She heard Tyler comment on StormPAR again about their ways of helping. She turned behind herself to see Javi and Scott talking to some guy in a suit.
‘Is that the Riggs guy Kate mentioned? Why are Scott and Javi talking to him?’ She thought to herself.
She got up and slowly approached Kate and Tyler. As she did, she heard the conversation more.
“Didn't know StormPAR was in the business of helping.” Tyler said, his tone rising seemingly by the second.
Kate made a face and snapped her head towards him. “Excuse me, from what I can see, they're trying to make a difference.” She argued on behalf of Javi, not to the other two men.
“That's one way of putting it.” Tyler retorted bluntly, making Kate confused. “Do you even know what you're chasing for? How much more do these people got to lose,” his tone was more angry now than before, “Before y’all are done making a difference?”
“Says the guy setting up shop, selling T-shirts and mugs after a storm hits!” Kate exclaimed.
‘So that's what they were selling over there? Why are they doing that?’ (Your Name) wondered. But remembering what Tyler told her last night, maybe it was a good cause.
But sensing the tension getting higher between her friend and the cowboy, she stepped in, “Whoa! Hey, hey, hey. Let's not get at each other's throats.” She said, trying her best to diffuse the situation. “This argument isn't important,” she looked around at their surroundings, “Helping these people is what matters right now.”
Saying that managed to bring the tension down significantly, but there was still some in the air.
Luckily, Ben strolled in with a smile and asked with a pen and notebook in his hands, “Tyler! You have a minute for some questions?”
He was blissfully unaware of the air of tension between Kate and Tyler and (Your Name) trying to make sure the two don't rip each other's heads off.
The cowboy looked at Tyler and responded. “I got a dog to find. Talk to Kate.” His words drifted as he walked away, seemingly still upset, “She seems to have all the answers, apparently.”
(Your Name) watched Tyler leave. She couldn't help but feel bad for Tyler. He seemed genuinely upset by Kate's accusations. Not in the sense of being caught but because of misunderstanding.
She saw Kate walk away and heard Ben speak, “Well… how about you, (Your Name)? Can you answer some questions?”
The (Hair Color) haired girl turned her attention to Ben. She let out a sigh. “Sorry, Ben. Not right now. But, I'll answer any questions you have later.” She gave the reporter a smile before walking away, going after Kate.
She found Kate by the truck, seemingly upset about the fight with Tyler. She spoke up, “Hey. You okay?” She asked gently.
Kate looked up and saw (Your Name) standing right next to her, a concerned look on her face. She sighed. “Yeah. Just pissed off. How could Tyler do this when people are suffering right now?”
“Maybe, this is a misunderstanding.” (Your Name) said.
Kate only sighed. “Highly doubt that.”
With a sigh, (Your Name) got closer to Kate and wrapped her arm around her friend's shoulder in comfort. Kate didn't respond but didn't push her friend off.
“Kate! (Your Name), hey!”
A voice that (Your Name) recognized rang out. She looked up and saw Lilly running up to them, holding something. “Hey, Lilly. What's up?”
Lilly handed the girls some water bottles and a small box of snacks. “Here, take some food.”
(Your Name) was touched by the offer, however, “Aww. I'm sorry, Lilly. I don't have money on me. Nor does Kate.”
“Nah, it's free. That's why we're always selling those T-shirts.” Lilly explained.
The explanation made (Your Name) pause. ‘That's why they sell the merch?’ She thought to herself. ‘That's… very… thoughtful.’
Meanwhile, Kate felt like the biggest jerk. She looked down in silence, feeling a wave of shame wash over her.
(Your Name) spoke up again, after getting over the initial shock, “In that case, save it. In case you run low.” She gave Lilly a small smile.
“I see why Tyler likes you so much, girlie.” Lilly smirked teasingly, before adding, tone no longer teasing, “Well, at least take some water. I'd rather you two have that than nothing.”
(Your Name) grabbed the two water bottles from Lilly, thanking her. Lilly smiled and walked back over the rest of Tyler's crew, who were still by their makeshift stand. The (Hair Color) haired girl turned to Kate and frowned, seeing her friend looking down in shame. She handed Kate one of the water bottles, silently telling her to take one.
Kate looked up and saw her friend offering her a water bottle. She took it tentatively, “Thanks,” She muttered.
(Your Name) hummed and looked out to the disaster site again. She spotted Javi and Scott still talking to that Riggs guy. She tilted her head to the side, a curious and incredulous look on her face.

Try Defying Gravity
A Twisters fanfiction
Author's Note: I'm finally back! I'm so sorry for the long wait! I've been so busy lately, but I have a small break right now, so I can post now!
Fourth chapter, now! Geez, this was a hard chapter to write! I was going through many scenarios in my head to see which would work best for this scene, and this was the one I chose and liked the best. I hope you all like it!
Also, completely off-topic story, my town had a tornado scare today! I was alone in my apartment room and looked out my window. We had rain for most of the day, but this time, it was coming down hard. Then, a minute or two later, I got a tornado warning on my phone. I was going to write it off at first because I've gotten those warnings before, and they didn't turn into anything. But then, I heard the dull sound of the tornado sirens, and my heart sank. I called my dad in a panic as I grabbed some stuff and left my room. I went down the stairs to go to the underground parking garage in my apartment. As I got to the stairs door, I looked outside. The sky was pale gray, it was pouring, and the wind was blowing hard. Just as I was about to open the door, all of a sudden, I heard a loud clap/rumble sound that scared me half to death! Wasn't sure if it was someone in the stairwell or if it was thunder, but that made me even more anxious!
I get to the parking garage, and around thirty to fourty people, mostly college students like myself, were down there. My dad and I ended our call, and I called my mom in a mild panic, too, telling her that was happening. She called me again a couple of minutes later, but then I accidentally hung up on her, and I kept calling her in a panic, hoping that the WiFi wasn't spotty or something. She picked up and told her everything. Then, my friend called me in the middle of it, so I let my mom go since she had work in a couple of minutes, and told my friend when I answered her.
Luckily, the tornado warning changed to a severe thunderstorm warning after a couple of minutes in the parking garage, and twenty minutes after the tornado warning was sent, we were cleared and only under the severe thunderstorm warning. I walked up the stairs to the main floor and looked out the window. The rain had stopped, and the wind was calmer, but the sky stayed the same. I went back to my room and anxiously waited for the storm warning to be lifted. Then, around half an hour later, the severe thunderstorm warning expired.
It was one of the most anxious moments of my life! But, I was happy that the storm was just passing through and broke apart.
Hope you enjoy the chapter! ♥️
Chapter 4: Nightly Discussion
Nighttime fell over the skies of Oklahoma. The pale blue color changed to a dark blue, almost black shade. Stars popped up, twinkling against the dark background beautifully.
(Your Name) walked behind Kate and Javi as they talked. She let them talk as she went through the thoughts in her head. When she came back to the StormPAR vans after the twister completely vanished, she was scolded for going with Tyler and his crew by Scott. He told her that next time, she had to go with them next time. The scolding would've been harsher if Javi and Kate hadn't stepped in to defend her. (Your Name) honestly didn't understand why Scott was so annoyed with the fact that she went with Tyler’s group. Besides the shock of going into the twister and almost suffering a panic attack, she actually had some fun. She sighed softly and shook her head, deciding not to dwell on it tonight.
She saw that Javi and Kate had separated and she decided to walk up to Kate and talk to her. “Hey, Kate. Ready to rest?”
Said girl turned to (Your Name) and nodded. “Yep. This day's been a disaster.” She said. (Your Name) frowned, remembering what she saw earlier that day. She knew Kate must've had some sort of panic attack when she was out there. Instead of asking about it, thinking it might be a touchy subject, she said, “I'm sorry about what happened.”
Kate shook her head. “You didn't do anything. It was all my fault. I screwed up.” She said monotonously. “No. It wasn't. Whatever happened out there, it wasn't your fault. Trust me,” (Your Name) moved closer to Kate to the point where their shoulders touched, “Look, tomorrow is a new day. Things will be better. I'm positive it'll be great. Plus, I'll be there this time. We can do it together.”
Kate gave the (Hair Color) haired girl a smile. She loved how encouraging and supportive (Your Name) was. She wrapped an arm around the girl's shoulders. “Thank you, (Your Name).” Said girl hummed happily, wrapping her arm around Kate's waist, side hugging her. “You're welcome, Kate.”
The two walked towards the motel, their arms still wrapped around each other. But as they did, they spotted Tyler's crew outside by their vehicles. While (Your Name) thought about going over to them, seeing Kate's expression change from calm to annoyed, made (Your Name) want to stay with her. As they walked past them, going up the stairs and trying to be subtle, Tyler spoke up, “The cells to the west will choke each other out, she said. The one to the east will put on a show.”
The girls stopped walking and looked at the group. At first, (Your Name) had no idea what he was talking about, but then she remembered he talked to Kate first. They must've discussed the storm cells too before he went to talk to her. And judging by his tone, he was messing with Kate. Before she could say something, Kate replied snarkily, “Well, it didn't throw you off the scent.”
“Hey, that's what makes Tyler famous.” Boone said, pointing to Tyler with his free hand, his other one holding a beer.
“You mean famous on YouTube?” Kate retorted sassily.
Tyler chuckled through clenched teeth, turning his head to look at Kate and (Your Name).
Boone stumbled on his words a bit before forming a coherent sentence, “We're on YouTube. We got what? About a million subscribers now, huh?” He asked the group, gaining words of affirmation from them.
Ben stood up from the chair he was sitting and walked up to Kate and (Your Name), craving his neck to look up at them. “Uh, Kate, what?” Seeing Kate's immediate confusion, he added, “Your surname, just in case I include you in my piece. I have (Your Name)’s already written.”
“Just Kate's fine, please.” Kate told him awkwardly with a nod. Ben nodded and went back to writing in his notepad.
No one spoke after the exchange, the tension high between Tyler's group and the two girl best friends. Sensing that awkward tension between everyone (Your Name) decided to speak up, “So, where did you guys meet?” She addressed each group member, her eyes landing on Tyler last, “Did you study meteorology together or something?”
This question gained amused laughs from the group. Boone looked at (Your Name) with a carefree smile, “Nah. I just flow with the wind. You know what I'm saying?”
The sentence surprised (Your Name). “Meaning…,” she started before Boone finished her thought, “Yeah, I never went to, like, school or nothing. Um, Tyler, he studied meteorology, though.”
(Your Name) looked at Tyler. “Really?” She said.
Tyler chuckled in amusement at (Your Name)’s awe.
Boone nodded. “Yeah, girl. You know, he's a cowboy scientist, you know.” He said, gassing up his best friend, not hearing Tyler trying to stop him from continuing, “He's got this natural instinct, similar to yours and Kate, I think. He taught me everything I know, so-”
“Boone.” Finally Tyler saying his name got Boone to stop talking. Then, Tyler's eyes moved to (Your Name) and Kate, his expression normal, “You know, our crew’s not like your crew. We don't need PhDs and fancy gadgets to do what we do. I guarantee you, these guys have seen more tornadoes than anyone else in this lot combined.”
‘He could be right. I've only seen one in my entire life before today.’ (Your Name) thought to herself. She looked at Kate and she could tell that Kate was getting more annoyed. She didn't outwardly show it, but she can sense it in Kate’s posture. “Oh? Is that right?” Kate asked smugly.
Ben, not sensing the obvious tension between Tyler and Kate, opened his mouth again and spoke, “Do you think there's a chance we'll see one tomorrow?”
“Oh yeah. Outbreak, baby.” Boone replied with a whistle, smiling with excitement as he took a sip of his drink. The rest of the group agreed.
“You know, if you can keep up, we'll put you in the episode,” Tyler told Kate nonchalantly, acting smug again. “Your friend (Your Name) here has already gotten a taste. She was having the time of her life out there.”
(Your Name) couldn't help but agree partially to Tyler's words. She did have fun with him, but that sense of anxiety from being in that tornado was certainly not fun. But she also did not like the smug attitude he directed at Kate. She crossed her arms, miffed at that, and was about to say something, but once again, Kate beat her to it,
“Wow~,” She dragged the word out dramatically, “What a privilege that would be.”
“What are you chasing tomorrow?” Lilly asked Kate and (Your Name), interested and not picking up on the obvious tension between Kate and Tyler.
“Oh, no, no, no. Not falling for that again.” Tyler jumped in, clicking his tongue as he looked briefly at Killy before turning his attention to the two girl best friends, “Kate's living in New York. Can't trust a thing she says anymore.”
“Well, what about (Your Name), there? She had the same theory as Kate.” Boone jumped into the conversation.
Tyler thought for a moment before replying, “We can trust her, I think. What do you say, Chicago? What's your opinion on the outbreak?” He asked with a smirk.
(Your Name) let out a playful scoff. “I don't think you want my opinion. If you can't trust Kate’s input because she's from New York, you shouldn't trust a Chicago girl’s input, either. So, no. I'm not telling you anything. Especially since you'll probably claim the knowledge as your own and chase after us like a desperate puppy.”
Kate had to cover her mouth to keep herself from laughing out loud.
Pleased with her words, (Your Name) turned away, wrapping her arm around Kate's shoulders and ushered her to their room.
Meanwhile, everyone in Tyler’s group whistled and made impressed noises at (Your Name)’s comeback.
Tyler was left with a lot of thoughts but couldn't help the somewhat pleased smirk that formed on his lips as he watched (Your Name) leave.
🌀🌪🍃
(Your Name) couldn't sleep. Not because she was nervous or upset. She just couldn't at the moment. And on those nights, she could go outside, take in the night air and calm down.
That's exactly what she was doing now.
She looked up at the night sky, the stars twinkling and the moon glowing brightly, giving off enough light that it wasn't pitch black out.
Many thoughts raced through her mind. All of them revolve around Tyler and her friends. But mostly Tyler. ‘Why was he hostile towards Kate and Javi and the rest of the StormPAR crew? Do they have some kind of feud?’
“Can't sleep, Chicago?”
Tyler's voice took her by surprise, making her jump a bit. She turned and saw Tyler, still in his clothes from today, standing there, hands on his hips.
“Uhhh…. Y-yeah.”
Tyler smiled and walked closer to the (Hair Color) haired girl, stopping when he was standing next to her. He followed her gaze, looking up at the sky.
“Beautiful, huh?” He asked, looking at (Your Name).
The girl looked at Tyler and nodded. “It looks so different in Chicago.” She said.
“Can't beat the sky in the country.”
(Your Name) hummed. It was really beautiful.
The two stayed silent for a couple of minutes, admiring the night sky.
“What you said to me. When you defended your friend. That was a brave thing. I can respect it.”
Tyler's words broke (Your Name) out of her reverie as she turned to look at Tyler again. He was still looking up at the sky, but she decided to speak anyway, “Kate's my best friend. Best friends defend each other.”
Tyler chuckled softly at her words, not in a mocking way but in an endearing way.
Then, (Your Name) asks, “Why did you say those things to them? Kate? Javi? And the rest of the StormPAR team? Is there some kind of… feud or disagreement between you guys?”
At her question, Tyler turned to face her, his expression calm but serious, “No. There's no feud. But, they are not good people.”
Confused (Your Name) asked, “What do you mean?”
“I mean… they are selfish and don't care. Have you not noticed it?”
(Your Name) shook her head. She knew Scott was a jerk, but everyone else seemed nice, especially Javi. Kate was her best friend; she wouldn't describe her as selfish.
Tyler stepped closer to the (Hair Color) haired girl before placing his hands on her shoulders. The action made the girl gasp softly. “Take it from me, dear. You don't want to work for those goons. Finish the internship and work somewhere else as your real job. You're too good for them.”
Then, he moved his right hand closer to the side of (Your Name)’s neck. “In fact, I could take you into my team. You’ll fit in perfectly.” He finished with a soft, sincere smile.
The mix of Tyler's words and the intimate touches made (Your Name) feel shivers on her spine, and a fire slowly ignited in her body. She swallowed nervously, her mouth slightly agape.
The intimate moment lasted for a couple more seconds. The two just looked at each other, neither saying a word. Then, Tyler pulled away, his hands returning to his sides. “Go get some rest, city girl. Big day tomorrow, all right?”
(Your Name) nodded and turned to head back to the motel but she heard Tyler call out to her, making her pause and turn her head to look at him, “Think about what I said.”
With a nod, she turned her head forward and started walking again.
She got to her room and closed the door. She pressed her back to the door and let out a sigh. Tyler's words echoed in her head. She didn't know what to think. What to say. And that intimate moment they had. Her heart was beating a little faster just thinking about it.
Sighing again, she decided to sleep everything off. She actually did feel tired now.
As she lay in bed, she looked up at the ceiling. ‘Tomorrow's a new day. Things will be different.’
That was her last thought before she fell asleep.

Hope you enjoy the chapter! ♥️
Chapter 3: Resurfacing Trauma
Tyler guided (Your Name) to his red pickup truck and the white RV, where his team stood.
“All right, everyone! We're ready to go and we have a friend coming along.”
The other team members turned their heads to Tyler and saw (Your Name) standing next to him. She shyly waved at them. Tyler introduced her to the members. Boone, his cameraman. Lily, who was in charge of tech, Dexter and Dani, who handled merch and were humanitarians, and of course Ben, the reporter they hired. After introductions, everyone got into their respective vehicles to go chase the storm.
“Come on, StormPAR intern. Tyler wants you with him.” (Your Name) heard Boone call out to her. She walked over to the truck and opened the passenger door and got in, sitting behind the driver's seat. Ben got in and sat on her left. Then, Boone and Tyler got in, Boone in the passenger seat and Tyler in the driver's seat.
“Ready to go?!” Tyler called out the open window.
Everyone, even outside in the RV, called out, “Ready!”
“You ready, Boone?!”
“Always!”
“Ben! You ready?”
“Yes, I am.” Ben replied calmly.
Tyler turned his attention to (Your Name). “How about you, city girl? You ready to have some fun?” He asked, his tone still excited and playful, but it was softer than when he asked the others.
(Your Name) nodded at Tyler. “Yes. I'm ready.”
With her confirmation, Tyler started up the truck, and with an excited yell, he started driving, the rest of his team right behind him; music blasting from the radio.
They followed the StormPAR team on the dirt road. (Your Name) took a moment to admire the gray sky and clouds. Oklahoma was very different from the plains in Illinois. Illinois plains were beautiful in their own way, but Oklahoma felt different. Still beautiful but different. She smiled softly.
Then, suddenly, Tyler drove into the field at a high speed and cut the StormPAR group off, almost hitting them.
The sudden actions in that order made (Your Name) yell in shock as Boone turned on the camera and started recording as Tyler began to speak,
“What's up, chat?! Welcome back! Thank you for joining us! We just had Tornado Genesis.” He pointed at the sky. Then, he spoke again, "And we have our special guests in the back seats.”
Boone moved the camera to Ben's face with a little holler. “Ben, you just came in from London yesterday, right?” Tyler asked.
“Um.. uh, yes. South London. Just between Streatham Hill and West Norwood.” Ben replied.
Tyler nodded. “And, we have this lovely little lady behind me.”
Boone moved his camera to point at (Your Name) with another holler. She smiled and waved shyly, softly saying, “Hi.”
“You came in today from Chicago for the StormPAR internship. How are you feeling?” Tyler asked.
“I feel…. excited. Can't wait to see what Tyler has up his sleeve.” (Your Name) answered honestly. Despite her fear, she did want to see what the action entailed.
Tyler smiled and turned his attention back to the road. “Okay.”
“Tyler, tornadoes on the move.” Dani said over the radio.
“Okay.” With that, Tyler sharply turned off the road and into the grassy field. Despite already experiencing this, the action still took (Your Name) by complete surprise and she let out a small, surprised yelp.
As the pickup barreled in the field, the rain started to come down. Boone was hollering excitedly. Tyler equally as excited, said, “Here we go. Oh, yeah! Oh, it's on now, Ben and (Your Name). You ain't in London or Chicago anymore!”
(Your Name) suddenly felt her heart beat faster as she saw the direction they were heading.
They were heading straight for the tornado!
To make things worse, hail started to come down. But Boone and Tyler were bouncing off the walls with excitement. “Whoo! We got golf balls, baby!” Boone yelled.
“Are those golf balls or baseballs?!” Tyler asked.
The two looked at the sky before they shared a look and screamed with even more excitement, “Baseballs!”
‘Oh, God.’ (Your Name) thought dreadfully to herself as she felt her anxiety spike.
“I'm assuming this is safe.” Ben spoke up.
“No way. This is so not safe.” (Your Name) whispered.
Then, Tyler roughly turned the car as a pane from a windmill fell onto the ground near them. Then, the whole thing came down. Tyler, not caring, kept driving and drove under the low hanging pane that nearly hit the roof of the pickup. Tyler hooted and sped up. He was going so fast that (Your Name) had to hold onto Tyler's seat.
As they got back onto the dirt path and drove closer to the twister, (Your Name) noticed a familiar car parked some distance from the tornado. Then, she recognized the equipment and who was standing outside.
“That's Javi up there.” She told Tyler.
Tyler looked and saw the truck. He drove over and stopped when his open window was across from the driver seat of the white car. He stuck his head out the window.
“Javi! What are you doing out here, man? Tornado's that way.” He yelled, his voice gruff and obnoxious sounding. He turned his attention to Kate, who was in the car in the passenger seat. He smiled smugly. “Hey, Kate.” Then, with a whoop and a holler, he took off again, making fun of the goggles Javi was wearing.
(Your Name) watched the whole interaction in silence. Many thoughts went through her head. First, Tyler was acting obnoxious, but secondly, he had a point. That device they were using was supposed to collect the data of a tornado from a certain distance. She remembered Javi told her about it on the drive to the meet-up spot. But Kate and Javi were too far away to get any data. Then, she remembered Kate. She saw the slightly panicked look in her eyes and her breathing. Like she just experienced a panic attack. (Your Name) knew those very well, for she too, suffered from them from time to time. Especially after what happened to her five years ago.
‘Did… something happen to Kate, too?’ She thought to herself.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the excited screaming of Tyler and Boone as they drove closer and closer to the twister. Seeing the twister up close like this made (Your Name)’s heart rate increase. Ben was smiling a little at their excitement. Then, Tyler spoke, “All right! Harnesses on!”
“Harnesses?” (Your Name) questioned.
Boone was putting his on as he turned to Ben and (Your Name). “This is my favorite part. You ready, (Your Name)? Harness is by the seat belt.”
The girl found it and put it on as Tyler told Ben to put his on, too. “Harness on, city girl?” Tyler asked (Your Name). “Uh huh!”
“Good. We're going straight in!”
Immediate dread filled (Your Name)’s being at Tyler's words.
Ben started yelling about not being warned about what was going to happen, and he started to feel sick.
(Your Name) heard the twister getting closer and closer to the pickup. The winds howling like a freight train. Feeling her anxiety hit the roof, she closed her eyes and gripped her harness in fear, breathing heavily.
This was it. She was going to die. She should've refused the offer. She shouldn't have gone with them. What was she thinking? Now, she was going to die.
But then, a whistling sound made her slowly open her eyes. She looked and saw colorful lights in the twister.
There were fireworks.
Confused, she looked around and saw that the pickup hadn't moved an inch from where they last were. There were no broken windows. No damage.
She was safe.
Then, she saw the twister move away from them. Once it was at a safe distance, Tyler and Boone got out of the car, hooting and hollering. (Your Name) even saw Boone do a backflip. Ben got out, and (Your Name) did after. As Tyler and Boone celebrated, (Your Name) looked at the pickup. It was untouched. No damage whatsoever. Then, she saw it. Drills in the dirt.
‘That's what kept us in place.’ She thought to herself.
She looked over at Tyler and Boone who were still celebrating, but now Boone was holding the camera, pointing it at Tyler and Ben.
“How are you feeling, brother?” Boone asked Tyler.
“Oh! On top of the world, man.” Tyler looked at the camera. “All thanks to my crew.” Boone moved to be in front of the camera with Tyler, throwing up a peace sign as Tyler addressed him and the other members of the team. “A few viewers asked me, 'Can you shoot fireworks up a tornado?' And the answer is yes. Yes, you can.”
Boone cheered again as Tyler asked Ben, “How are we doing back there, Ben? Ben?”
Ben keeled over and promptly threw up.
‘Honestly. I don't blame him.’ (Your Name) thought to herself.
Diverting the attention away from Ben, Boone pointed the camera at (Your Name), who had moved away from the car a little, still a little dazed.
“How about you, city girl? How are you feeling?” Tyler asked.
(Your Name)’s eyes were wide and her mouth was slightly agape as she looked at the two. She had no words.
Tyler laughed. “She's speechless! Must've had too much fun there.”
Boone moved the camera back to Tyler as he spoke again, “All right! If you feel it, chase it. Remember, you kids, do not try this at home. We are professional tornado wranglers.” Tyler twirled his index finger in a turning motion before fist bumping Boone, who was now on camera with him. Both of them smiled and laughed as they fist bumped.
(Your Name) looked at the sky. Then, to Ben. Then, back to Tyler and Boone.
“What the hell just happened?”

A Twisters fanfiction
Author's Note: Finally! Chapter 2! We're getting into it now! I can't wait to write the rest of the story!
Hope you enjoy the chapter! ♥️
Chapter 2: Job Search in Oklahoma
Five years laters….
(Your Name) sat at her laptop in her room, at her family's home in Chicago, Illinois; dressed in light gray sweatpants and sweatshirt combo.
She was looking at her emails to see if there were any jobs she was interviewed for, accepted her, or if more companies emailed her expressing interest.
She recently graduated from a college in Illinois in Meteorology and was now looking for a job. After she graduated, she decided to stay with her parents until she found a stable job and could afford a place of her own. They didn't mind, especially after what happened.
It's been five years. Five years since the tragic incident. The day she lost her closest friends to a tornado. All because they all wanted to help her face her fears.
She sniffled softly at the memory. Seeing all that destruction, seeing the mangled car. Seeing the blood and hearing a police car approaching her as she stood, frozen in horror and sadness.
Shaking her head, she searched through her emails some more. Then, she found a starred conversation between her and someone she remembered talking to some time ago.
Her name was Kate. She was a sweet and quiet girl from Oklahoma she met when her college visited New York City to meet up with the college Kate was in. The two became immediate friends and exchanged phone numbers and emails.
The email in particular, was a random one from Kate, telling her about some crazy event that happened at her job. Something about how a coworker jumpscared another and made him literally jump out of his seat, and she got it on camera. The video clip made (Your Name) laugh, and she starred it in her inbox.
Just then, an email notification came up in her inbox. She crossed up to it and saw the title;
‘Internship volunteers needed for StormPAR’
Immediately, she clicked on it to see the details.
The email states that they need people who either have experience or no experience to join them in Oklahoma. There's a storm surge unlike any other happening that week, and they need all the help they can get. They will pay for everything, including any form of transportation needed to get to Oklahoma.
Even though it was an internship, (Your Name) knew that it could lead to being hired by the same company if they really liked you.
But then the anxiety creeped in. This would happen during a storm surge. Would she be in the action or just watching? The message didn't specify.
Just then, her mother came in and looked at the email.
“You should take it, honey. This could be your chance.”
(Your Name) looked at her mother and stood up from her chair. “I don't know, Mom.” She muttered.
The mother placed her hands on her daughter's cheeks, holding her head to look at her. “Come on, pumpkin. This is your chance. Your chance to get out there and do what you were made to do. Your chance to fly free and defy gravity.”
At that last sentence, (Your Name) couldn't help but laugh softly. It was something she said as a kid when she saw Wicked for the first time. She told her Mom she wanted to be like Elphaba and defy gravity one day.
With that encouragement, (Your Name) nodded. “Okay, mommy. I'll do it.” Her mom smiled and kissed her daughter's forehead. “That's my brave little baby.”
🌀🌪🍃
Within the next two days, (Your Name) prepared for her flight to Oklahoma. She packed nice clothes and casual clothes and packed any other necessities she might need. She was dressed in a light blue dress shirt, black thin dress pants, and a personal touch; black combat boots with a strap over the curve by the front of the boots. She tied her hair into a ponytail and put on a bit of makeup.
Her parents drove her to the airport an hour before her flight would leave. The family exchanged farewells, hugs, and kisses before (Your Name) separated and headed to where she needed to go. As she did, her mother and father couldn't help but smile at their daughter.
After finding her place, she sat down and double checked her bags to make sure everything was in place before the call for her flight was announced. She showed her ticket and got onto the plane. She sat down at the window and pretty soon, she was soft to Oklahoma.
Around an hour and a half later, the long awaited announcement came; they had arrived in Oklahoma and would be landing shortly.
Once the plane had landed, everyone got off the plane to go to their respective place. (Your Name) dragged her suitcase behind her as she looked for anyone there representing Storm Par.
Luckily, in the crowd of people she saw someone holding up a sign that said her last name on it.
She excused herself as she shuffled around people to get to where she needed to go. Once she got through the crowd, she saw a man with dark curly hair and tanned skin, wearing what she assumed was StormPAR's uniform.
“Welcome, (Your Name)(Last Name). My name's Javi, and I'll be taking you to where you need to be.” The man reached his hand out for a shake, which (Your Name) eagerly takes, shaking it.
“Thank you Javi. And thank you again for accepting me.”
“It's no trouble, (Your Name). Now come on. Let's get going. We'll take a brief stop to the motel we're staying at so you can drop your stuff off, then we'll head on over to the meeting place.”
(Your Name) nodded as she followed Javi to the company car. But paused when she recognized someone in the car.
“Kate?!”
The girl turned her head and gasped when she saw the (Hair Color) haired girl. “(Your Name)?!”
Kate got out of the car and went to hug the girl. “Oh my God. You're the one who took the internship? This is great!”
“Yeah! Thought it would be a great opportunity.” (Your Name) said.
“So this is the girl you mentioned earlier?” Javi jumped in the conversation.
Kate nodded. “Yep.”
(Your Name) smiled a little. “You talk about me?” She playfully asked. “I hope it's all good things.”
Kate laughed. “Yep. All good things.”
After introductions were through, the three drove to where they were meeting. A gas station near an open field.
Javi introduced Kate to their team, then introduced (Your Name) as the intern. The workers in StormPAR all had PhDs from NASA, FEMA, NOAH, and WS. While, (Your Name) didn't have a PhD, she did have a Masters. As Javi got to one guy in particular, (Your Name) couldn't help but feel like there was an odd vibe with him. A man in a baseball cap. His name was Scott and already, she felt something off about him.
“Well, the girl's are only giving us a week, but while we have them,” Javi let out an excited holler, “it's going to be the wildest tornado week you've ever seen, fellas.”
“Yeah, and everybody with a ten dollar weather app knows it.” Scott spoke up, looking over the crowd of people around them, before glancing at the girls and Javi with a serious expression, “We got to stay ahead of the circus.”
Just then, a loud radio and horn honking could be heard as a giant, red pickup truck came barreling into the gas station. A guy with a camera had his head sticking out of the front passenger seat.
“Hey StormPAR. We're live on YouTube. Say something.” The guy said.
“Blow me , Boone.” One of the employees said rudely.
“Don't engage, don't engage.” Scott told the employee while addressing the others too.
The guy named Boone said, “Hey, smile man. Science is fun, right?”
“Who are they?” Kate asked.
“Chasers out of Arkansas.” Javi replied.
“Hillbillies with a YouTube channel.” Scott unnecessarily added.
The red pickup truck came to a stop, along with a giant white RV like van. The people at the station crowded the red pickup truck. Just then, someone came out of the pickup truck that had people clapping and recording on their phones. A man, dressed in a reddish brown short sleeve button shirt with pockets on the chest, a white cowboy hat and sunglasses. He had slightly tan skin, light stubble, and a bright white, charming smile.
The moment (Your Name) saw him, she felt her heart beat increase in speed a little as she watched, slightly slack jawed.
(Your Name) didn't even register what he said until he said, “And if you feel it,”
“Chase it!” The crowd of people yelled.
“I said if you feel it..”
“Chase it!”
Even one of the StormPAR employees joined the fans in the chant, even if he was a little late. A few of the others looked at him for his blunder.
Honestly, (Your Name) would've chanted the phrase too.
“That's Tyler Owens. He calls himself a tornado wrangler.” Javi said Kate.
“What does that even mean?”
“That's hot.”
Kate and Javi looked at (Your Name) with surprise. (Your Name) looked at the two. “What? It sounds badass to me.”
The two ignored the girl and went to talk about something else, presumably about the storms while (Your Name) turned her attention back to the YouTube storm chasers. They were handing out merchandise while Tyler was greeting fans. Tyler then briefly turned and saw the (Hair Color) haired girl looking at them. He tipped the top of his cowboy hat to her in greeting.
The action made the girl blush lightly, but she smiled and nodded her head back to him in greeting.
She then heard that they'll be heading out to the storm in a few minutes, diverting her focus back to the StormPAR team. She saw Kate walk out towards the field and decided to follow her. Kate gently smiled at her friend.
“Want to get a feel for the storm?” (Your Name) asked.
Kate nodded. “While there is a storm in the east, it's best to try to find the one where everything will fall into place. You know like-”
“Moisture, wide shear, instability, right?” (Your Name) finished Kate's sentence.
“Correct.” Kate nodded, smiling.
The two walk into the field. Kate picked up a dandelion and crushed it to see where the wind would take it. (Your Name) appreciated the old-school technique. She looked out towards the horizon.
“I'm going to go out further.” She told Kate.
“Okay.”
(Your Name) walked further into the field until she was about twenty feet away from Kate. Liking where she was at now, she closed her eyes and started to take deep breaths as she got a feel for the wind and the moisture.
As she did, she could distinctly hear Kate and a voice she soon recognized as Tyler’s talking. She couldn't exactly hear what they were saying but near the end of the conversation, she heard Tyler teasing Kate and Kate teasing right back, sounding more annoyed than Tyler’s somewhat playful tone.
She shook her head and went back to focusing on her task. She focused herself again and inhaled and exhaled softly as she leaned her head back a little. She felt the wind blow, the warm air hitting her face and ruffling her hair and clothes. It was almost calming.
“Getting a feel for the storm too?”
A sudden male voice broke her out of her state. She opened her eyes and turned her head to the left, seeing Tyler right there, looking out at the dark clouds in the horizon.
Shyly, (Your Name) replied, “Uh… y-yeah. I wanted to feel where the moisture was strongest. High moisture levels aid in the creation of twisters.”
“Old ways are better, huh?”
“Y-yeah. They can be.”
Tyler turned to look at the girl. “Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. Pardon me. I'm Tyler Owens.” He stuck his hand out for a shake. (Your Name) shyly reached her hand out and took his. “(Your Name) (Last Name).”
‘His hands… they feel… warm…. and slightly calloused. But still soft.’ She thought to herself.
“Nice to officially meet you. Where are you coming from, little lady?”
Their hands parted as (Your Name) replied, “Chicago.”
“You're not too far from here, huh, city girl?”
“Yeah.”
“Why are you out here and hanging out with the StormPAR goons?”
(Your Name) felt taken aback by the question, considering she doesn't see Kate as a goon or Javi either. But she decided to answer, “I'm their new intern. I took their internship offer.”
“So you're the intern they were just talking about? Overheard them talking about you.”
Just then, an older man with glasses jogged over to them. “Your team's ready for you.”
“Good. We're heading east.”
‘Funny. I think I heard Kate say that, too.’ (Your Name) thought to herself.
“Oh, Ben. This is StormPAR's intern we overheard about. (Your Name), this is Ben. He's a reporter. Hopefully, he'll write some good things about me.”
(Your Name) shook Ben's hand. Then, they can hear the StormPAR saying they were packing up to get ready. (Your Name) remembered she probably had to go with them as part of her internship. She goes to walk away, but hears Tyler's voice call out,
“Where you going, city girl?”
“Back to the van. They probably need me to participate.”
Tyler walked closer to the girl, a playful smile on his face. “No way. StormPAR ain't going to have you doing anything. Just probably having you sit back while they have all the fun. What they do isn't even fun. If you want to see a real show, come with me and my team.”
The offer took (Your Name) by surprise. She didn't want to get in trouble with StormPAR on her first day.
“I… I don't know. I might get in trouble if I don't go with them. I am their intern, and I should be learning from them.”
Tyler chuckled. “Trust me, dear. You won't be learning anything from them. I'll make it more fun for you.”
The nickname made her heart skip a beat. It was said so casually like it came naturally to Tyler. Still, she couldn't help the faint blush that blossomed onto her cheeks.
“Come on. Come with me.” Tyler urged encouragingly. The charming smile he gave her and his arm wrapping around her shoulders made her sigh in defeat. “All right.”
Tyler patted her arm and said as he escorted her to his red pickup truck, “Perfect. Come on, city girl. Let's wrangle ourselves a tornado.”
(Your Name) couldn't help but think,
‘What am I getting myself into?’

Try Defying Gravity
A Twisters fanfiction
Author's Note: Welcome to the first chapter of my Twisters fanfiction! I've been wanting to do one for some time now, ever since I saw Twisters back in early January. I loved the original, and seeing this sequel become successful and popular was great!
For this chapter, I tried my best to make a scenario to set up the story. I didn't want it to be exactly like the opening, but still something that could happen. This is new territory for me in regards to writing. I promise the other chapters will get better as they go on.
I hope you like the first chapter! ♥️
(Your Name) thought she wouldn't see a tornado. She knew they could happen anywhere but living in Illinois made her feel safe. Despite that fear, she was also fascinated by them. She wanted to face her fears. Feel like she's defying everything. But after a traumatizing incident, she has feared tornadoes. Five years after the incident, she goes to Oklahoma for an opportunity; during a storm surge unlike any other, where she catches everyone's attention and becomes intrigued with a certain YouTuber. The one who will help her face her fears and defy gravity.
Chapter 1: Horror in the Sky

The plains of Illinois were calm at this time of day. The corn swaying in the gentle wind, the sky was gray with possible incoming rain.
(Your Name), a recent high school graduate, was sitting in the passenger seat of her friend Jake's pickup. Him and her two friends, Sarah and Liam, who were seated in the back.
They were all jamming out to the radio, now playing country music. It was previously playing pop music but as they got closer to farming areas, the radio changed. Once the song ended, (Your Name) turned to Jake.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?”
Jake turned to look at his friend. “Of course I'm sure. Sarah and Liam feel the same.”
Liam leaned forward in between the front seats, “Yeah, you're the only one who hasn't seen one before.”
“I told you I didn't want to go looking for one.” (Your Name) argued.
“But exposure therapy is a good way to face your fears. Besides, this storm we're heading towards isn't a powerful one. I checked the equipment my dad has at home. Plus, the storm surge that happened in the Midwest is done now. We shouldn't be getting any more strong tornadoes for a while.” Sarah reassured her friend.
(Your Name) sighed. Ever since she told her friends that she has never seen a tornado before, they all gasped and joked that if she wanted to go into meteorology or something similar to that field, she needed some exposure. She argued that it wasn't absolutely necessary.
All her friends have seen tornadoes before. Liam lived in Kansas for most of his life, before moving to Illinois before high school. So he has seen more tornadoes than he can count on his hands; all in various sizes and strengths. Sarah was originally from Oklahoma, but moved to Illinois when she was six because her family felt unsafe living there. Much like Liam, she's also seen quite a lot of tornadoes too, in varied strengths and sizes. Jake was born in Nebraska but moved to Illinois when he was ten. While he hasn't seen as much as Liam and Sarah, he has seen his fair share of twisters.
(Your Name), meanwhile, had only experienced a tornado once before. But, she was in a shelter when it happened, so she technically hasn't seen one in real life.
But the truth of the matter was; she was unnerved by tornadoes.
“Still, I don't like this.”
“Didn't you say you were intrigued by tornadoes?” Jake joined in the conversation again.
“Intrigued, Jake. Keyword, intrigued. I can still be uneasy about them.” (Your Name) said.
“While you have a point, it's still best to experience one before going to school for meteorology.” Sarah said.
“I've never experienced a hurricane or an earthquake and you guys don't consider it a hole in my education.” (Your Name) argued.
“We live in Illinois, near Tornado Alley. Not in Florida for hurricanes or California for earthquakes.” Liam countered.
“Thank you very much, Captain Obvious.” (Your Name) quipped.
The other two friends laughed.
“Whatever.” Liam rolled his eyes good-naturally.
They continued to drive down the road. The further they drove, the darker the sky started to become. Each time the sky darkened, (Your Name) felt a knot in her stomach.
Then, the rain started to come down. First, it was light, but after a minute, it started to pour, and then, it was raining hard. Then, the wind started to pick up.
“Ooh! This is definitely tornado weather!” Liam said with excitement.
“The forecast said it'll be around 80 mph..” Sarah informed the group.
“Definitely EF1 territory.” Jake said.
(Your Name) inhaled and exhaled softly, hearing her friends. After doing the same thing four other times, she felt calm and determined. She was going to face her fears.
Just then, a giant cloud in the distance started to spin slowly, and before they knew it, a skinny funnel touched down onto the grassy ground. It was a tornado.
“Hahaha! There it is, baby! There it is!” Liam exclaimed in excitement.
“This is it! Your first tornado, (Your Name)!” Jake smiled.
(Your Name) looked at the spinning funnel through the heavy rain. She had to admit, it looked pretty cool.
“Let's drive a little closer.” Jake suggested before looking at (Your Name). “Don't worry. We won't get too close.”
(Your Name) smiled softly at Jake's reassurance and nodded confidently. “Let's do it!”
Jake sped up and headed towards the tornado. Liam and Sarah cheered as they got closer and (Your Name) couldn't help but join in the excitement, smiling widely.
Eventually, Jake stopped the car, a decent distance away from the tornado, and opened the car door. Liam and Sarah both jumped out immediately after he did, and then (Your Name) followed. The four friends walked closer to the funnel, still keeping their distance. Sarah and Liam held hands as they did while (Your Name) walked on Sarah's other side with Jake on her other side. They stopped after walking a couple of feet to marvel at it. (Your Name) took out her phone and snapped a picture of the phenomenon.
“Well, what do you think, (Your Name)?” Sarah asked, her arm wrapped around Liam.
“She's beautiful.” (Your Name) breathed, taking another photo.
Out of excitement, (Your Name) jogged to get closer.
“Careful, (Your Name)! Don't get too close!” Liam lightly warned.
“I won't! I promise!” (Your Name) yelled back.
While her friends stayed where they were, (Your Name) got closer to the tornado. When she was around 30 feet away from the spinning funnel, she snapped another picture, smiling widely.
But then, something happened.
(Your Name) suddenly felt the air getting heavier. It was kind of heavy before but it seems thicker now.
Suddenly, the tornado spinning seemed to grow in size. It was at an EF1 size before, but now it looked like it was widening. But then, it shifted course. Now, instead of heading south, like where it was going, it switched to north…
It was heading straight towards her.
“(Your Name)! Run! Run, now!”
Her friends’ cries of fear broke her state of mind.
Fear struck her immediately and she backed away, turned around and started running towards her friends.
The wind picked up significantly, and the rain came hard even harder, crystalizing into tiny chunks of ice.
The four friends ran to their car as fast as they could, the tornado heading straight for them.
They frantically got into the car and Jake slammed on the brakes.
“What happened?! Why did it change course?!” Jake exclaimed.
“I don't know! This wasn't supposed to happen!” Liam yelled.
Sarah looked out her window. “The tornado! It's getting wider and wider! It's got to be at least a mile wide!”
“That's impossible.” Jake said, focusing on driving the pickup truck.
“It's an EF5.” (Your Name) said grimly.
“How?! How did this happen?!” Liam exclaimed.
“The moisture. It must've died down and picked up somewhere else. That's why the tornado changed its course. It needs that moisture to stay alive. The wind direction must've contributed to it too.” (Your Name) explained.
“We need to get out of here. It's coming in fast. Step on it, Jake!” Sarah yelled.
“I'm going as fast as I can!” Jake exclaimed.
He was. But with the harsh wind and heavy rain and hail, it made it almost impossible to see.
The hail grew in size, and now it was golf ball sized. It hit the truck many times as Jake drove wildly on the rain-soaked road. The tornado roared like a freight train behind them.
(Your Name) couldn't believe it. This wasn't the plan. This shouldn't be happening. It couldn't be happening. Panic set in, and she gripped the car seat tightly.
Liam and Sarah were yelling in fear as Jake weaved, avoiding any debris that landed on the road. (Your Name) looked out the car window. She tried to see if she could see the tornado anywhere, but it was so foggy and the rain and hail obscured her vision. She placed a hand on the window as she squinted to try to see.
“Oh my God! Jake, look out!”
Sarah and Liam's screams got (Your Name)’s attention and she turned back to the road.
A giant tree branch had fallen onto the road.
Jake tried to avoid it, but it came so fast, and there was no time to swerve out of the way.
The branch got underneath the truck, catching the tires and tripping it, sending it flying into the air. The four friends screamed as the truck started to tumble across the road.
(Your Name) suddenly felt airborne, and her body collided with the car window, shattering the glass. She was thrown out of the car and tumbled into the fields. She hit her head on the ground, and everything went black.
With a gasp, (Your Name) opened her eyes. Her vision was blurry for a moment but readjusted after a couple of seconds. She felt pain in her head as she very slowly sat up.
She got on her hands and knees and slowly stood fully up. She groaned as she felt her head spin, her vision blurring a little again.
Once her eyesight readjusted again, she saw it.
It looked like a bomb had gone off.
The damage. The destruction. Everything was in ruin. Any trees that could've been nearby were uprooted and splintered into pieces all over the ground. Their branches, some small, some big, were everywhere. A wide path was carved into the ground, showing the tornado’s path.
Then, she remembered.
Her friends.
“Jake? Sarah? Liam?”
She called out their names as she slowly walked around the area, being careful of any obstacles that were in her path.
The more she searched, the more worried she got.
“Liam! Jake! Sarah!”
Then, she saw it.
The car they drove in… it was heavily damaged. Some parts were torn off from the strong winds of the twister. But what made (Your Name)’s heart clench in horror was the splashes of blood inside the car and on the broken windows.
Her body started to shake as her anxiety skyrocketed. Her breathing became labored and shaky.
“No… no. Sarah…. Liam….. Jake.”
She stood there in the expansive damage, tears in her eyes as her world came crashing down; as the sounds of a police siren approached her.

Chapter 12: The Fremen
〰️
The trio were panting hard after the terrifying encounter with the sand worm. Paul looked to (Your Name) before surprising the boy with a tight hug that almost knocked him over. He hugged back, wrapping his arms around him just as tightly. He was breathing heavily as his hand moved up to cradle the back of Paul's neck.
“I'm okay, babe. Don't worry.” He muttered softly.
He sighed shakily, moving to his head to press his forehead to his. “I was so worried about you…” He whispered, his voice shaky.
“Shh…. it's alright, baby. I'm alright.” He moved one of Paul's hands from his waist and placed it over his chest, where his heart is. “I'm right here.” He whispered.
Paul felt his best friend's heartbeat, and he let out a shaky sigh of relief. His heartbeat grounded him; he wouldn't know what to do if it ever stopped beating.
He nuzzled his nose against his gently before pulling away from the embrace and taking his hand in his.
(Your Name) saw Jessica's worried look, and gave the older woman's hand a gentle squeeze. Jessica squeezed the boy's hand back.
“How big are they? That was insane.” Jessica said, panting while leaning down on the rock.
“Someone called it.” (Your Name) informed, looking around. He suddenly felt eyes on him. Clenching his free hand before he signed to Paul and Jessica, “We're not alone.”
Footsteps could be heard and pebble clatters, making (Your Name) and Paul turn around. A Fremen male appeared behind Paul, making (Your Name) push him behind him. He got into a fighting stance, ready to summon the Keyblade if needed; as more Fremen appeared from the rocks.
“Do not run. You will only waste your body's water.” A familiar voice spoke.
(Your Name) turned his attention to the man who spoke. He was lying on a rock. He recognized him.
“Stilgar. I remember you came to Paul's father's council.”
The man, Stilgar, hummed, pulling down his cloth that covered his mouth. “This is (Your Name). The Haris Aldaw’.”
The boy tilted his head to the side as he listened to the Fremen mutter amongst themselves. One of them asked why they were waiting, stating that they needed their water.
“These are the two boys I told you about. We can't touch them.” Stilgar replied to his fellow Fremen.
“Is he the Haris Aldaw’? And he is Lisan al-Gaib?”
“How can that be?”
“They haven't proven themselves."
“They're weaklings.” The same angry voice pulled out a weapon.
(Your Name) was very close to summoning the Keyblade.
“Jamis…” Stilgar stopped the male. “There was a brave crossing they made in the path of Shai-Hulud. The boys do not speak or act like a weakling. Nor did the Lisan Al-Gaib's father.”
“My thumper saved their lives. Go back to reason, Stilgar. She's not the Haris Aldaw’, and he's not The One.” Jamis snapped back, gesturing to the two teens individually.
(Your Name) was about to prove the male wrong, but Jessica spoke up before he could act. “We have powerful friends. One for them being right here,” She gestured to (Your Name) who was standing in front of Paul, protecting him, “You help us off-world, to Caladan, you will be well rewarded.”
“What wealth can you offer beyond the water in your flesh?” Stilgar spoke back, tone challenging. The Fremen were now standing up from their crouched positions.
(Your Name) growled lowly, still in a fighting stance, ready to fight if needed.
Stilgar observed the trio, “The boys are young. They can learn our ways. They may have sanctuary. But the woman isn't trained and too old to learn.” He made his way down his spot on the rocks, jumping in front of the trio.
The blue-eyed boy stepped in front of Stilgar. “You don't want to do this, Stilgar.” He warned in a low, threatening tone, staring at the older man.
Stilgar paused when he looked into the boy's eyes. ‘Sapphire blue…. the color of cobalt. They're his eyes.’ He thought to himself.
Paul and Jessica started fighting other Fremen who tried to attack them, while Stilgar lunged at (Your Name). The boy summoned the Keyblade and blocked his knife with it. Stilgar stilled at the sight of the key shaped blade, giving (Your Name) the chance to push Stilgar away from him.
He got into a fighting stance. Stilgar lunged at him again, but (Your Name) dodged rolled out of the way, and the two started to fight.
Their blades clanged as they collided with each other. At one point, Stilgar managed to disarm (Your Name), the Keyblade flinging out of his hand. Stilgar pointed his blade at the boy's throat.
Everyone else stopped fighting to see this happen. Jessica was worried when (Your Name) was disarmed. Paul, on the other hand, was about to run back down to help his love. But, something unexpected happened.
(Your Name) smirked at Stilgar and raised his hand to the side of him. To everyone's shock, the Keybalde disappeared and reappeared in his hand.
The move took Stilgar off guard, and he knocked his crysknife out of his hand. He tried to back away, but he shot off a Blizzard spell at the older man, freezing his legs in place. The attack stunned him, and (Your Name) pointed his Keybalde at him threateningly.
“I did warn you.” He growled.
Paul felt a shiver run down his spine at (Your Name)’s tone. His cheeks felt warmer, and his eyes became hazy as he panted softly, loving the sight of his love being threatening.
Stilgar was in awe at this boy's power. “So it's true, you are the Haris Aldaw’,” Stilgar muttered, then added louder, “Why didn't you just show us your blade?” His question came out shaky, showing his nervousness.
“You didn't exactly ask nicely.” (Your Name) spoke, walking closer to the older man.
“Peace, boy. Peace. I judged hastily.”
The boy sighed softly, using his Fire magic to unfreeze Stilgar.
“The sun is rising. We must reach Sietch Tabr.” Stilgar informed the Fremen in their language, “The fate of the strangers will be decided there. Until then, they are under my countenance. My word is on them.” He opened up his stillsuit a little, cutting his skin to show his promise, and the other Fremen followed alongside.
Paul walked up to (Your Name), who now made his Keyblade disappear. He looked at Paul, seeing he brought a girl with him, making him curious as to who she was. The male came over and gave his friend a tight hug, which he returned. They parted when they heard Stilgar speak in Fremen language,
“We must go!”
Stilgar walked up to Paul and, in English, told him to give back the maula pistol he stole when he ran off when the fighting occurred.
Then, Stilgar addressed the woman standing close to Paul, “Chani, take charge of the newcomers. See that they are safe on the journey. Let's go.”
(Your Name) looked at the girl who came with Paul. ‘She must be Chani.’ He thought to herself.
“I will not have them.” A voice spoke out.
“Jamis, I have spoken. Be still.” Stilgar said, and (Your Name) narrowed his eyes on Jamis, standing close to Paul.
“You talk like a leader. But the strongest leads. He bested you. I invoke the amtal.”
(Your Name) summoned his Keyblade again, ready to fight him, but Paul grabbed his arm gently, stopping him. Jessica walked forward as well but was stopped by Stilgar's voice.
“You may not challenge a sayyadina. Nor the Haris Aldaw’.”
Jamis looked at (Your Name). “Then who will fight in his name?”
Stilgar turned back around to his friend, “Jamis, don't do this. Don't. The night is fading.”
“Then the sun will witness this death. Where is his champion?” Jamis asked the group in a growl.
Paul looked at (Your Name), giving him a subtle determined, and serious look before he stepped forward to accept the challenge.
“No… Paul don't-” He whispered, going up to follow him, but was stopped by a hand on his shoulder. He turned to see Chani, who shook her head gently.
“I accept his champion.” Jamis nodded his head.
〰️
Everyone was getting ready for the fight.
(Your Name) walked over to Paul, who was getting ready to fight Jamis.
He saw Paul staring ahead, and he guessed that he was seeing another vision. (Your Name) placed a hand on the arm that was stretched out in front of him, his hand on a rock.
Paul snapped out of his trance when he felt his gentle touch and turned to look at him.
“You don't have to do this, Paul. I could do it. I can fight him.”
The curly haired boy frowned and shook his head, taking the hand that held his arm in his. “Absolutely not. You're not doing it (Your Name).”
“But-” (Your Name) started to protest but was interrupted by Paul.
“You're too important,” He let out a shaky breath, “You're too important to me.” Paul placed his free hand on the boy's cheek, cupping his face.
“I would search every possible universe just to get you back (Your Name). That's how important you are to me.” He looked into his sapphire blue eyes.
(Your Name) felt his eyes get watery at Paul's confession. “Paul… I feel the exact same way about you too,” He cupped the sides of Paul's face, “But please…. be careful. I don't know what I would do if you got hurt or got killed.” He whispered, sniffling. “I can't lose you.”
Paul moved closer to (Your Name), their bodies gently pressed against each other's. He wrapped his arms around the boy's waist, pressing the side of the face against his. (Your Name) returned the hug, wrapping his arms around Paul's neck. They stayed like this for a few moments before pulling away a little, but their hands stayed on their respective places. Paul's hands on (Your Name)’s waist, and (Your Name)’s hands on Paul's shoulders.
“You won't lose me.” Paul whispered.
“You promise?” (Your Name) whispered to him, feeling tears well up in his eyes.
“I promise.” Paul whispered back passionately.
The childhood friends pressed their foreheads against each other's. They were so close that they could feel their breaths against their lips.
(Your Name) could feel his heart beating fast as he looked into Paul's hazel green eyes. His heart was beating even faster when Paul leaned in, parting his lips. Before he knew it, Paul's lips gently crashed against his. He gasped softly at the feeling but kissed back almost immediately. (Your Name) felt butterflies form in his stomach, making his body tremble as Paul kissed him. Paul wrapped his arms around him while he wrapped his arms around Paul's neck. Paul pulled (Your Name) even closer, leaving no space between them. (Your Name)’s eyes fluttered shut as did Paul's.
Their lips were moving in sync against each other; soft and slow. (Your Name) moved his arms and slid his hands to Paul's curly brown hair, feeling the soft locks in between his fingers. Paul seemed to love the feeling as he moaned softly against (Your Name)'s lips, opening his mouth and the tip of his tongue caressed (Your Name)’s bottom lip.
The action made the (Hair Color) haired boy let out a breath through his nose. But he felt his knees tremble when Paul's tongue did it again; but this time, his tongue caressed his top lip right after the bottom lip. He was silently asking for entry. He opened his mouth without hesitation, giving him access; letting out a muffled moan when he felt Paul's tongue slide into his mouth, caressing his tongue with his. The butterflies in his belly danced more frantically as they two made out, their tongues caressing each other's, as they held onto each other for dear life.
The two turned their heads in opposite directions, wanting to deepen the kiss even further. When Paul's tongue circled around (Your Name)’s slowly, he almost keeled over, feeling his knees weaken more. Paul held him up, making sure he stayed where he was and not letting the kiss break. The action made (Your Name) whimper into Paul’s mouth.
Paul moved his left hand into (Your Name)’s hair, his fingers running through the (straight/curly/wavy) strands. (Your Name) hummed into Paul's mouth as he carded his fingers through Paul's soft curly locks.
The pair kissed with so much passion and love, their bodies pressed against each other's. Like they didn't want to separate from one another.
After a few more minutes of passionately kissing, Paul slowly removed his lips from (Your Name)’s, making a soft smacking sound, a small string of saliva connecting their parted lips. He breathed heavily as he pressed his forehead to (Your Name)'s. He opened his eyes slowly as his hazel green hues stared into (Your Name)’s sapphire blue one's, seeing them sparkle with love.
“I love you…” Paul exhaled, trying to calm himself after the passionate moment. His voice came out raspy and deep, making (Your Name) blush and tremble against him.
It took some willpower to keep Paul from kissing him again at that reaction.
“I love you too… more than anything.” (Your Name) breathed out, feeling the tears that welled up in his eyes fall, trailing down his cheeks. He moved his hands out of Paul's hair and cupped his jawline. “Be careful…. please.” He whispered to him.
Paul nuzzled his nose against (Your Name)’s, comforting him. “I promise.” He repeated the gesture, “For you, my love, I promise…”
The blue-eyed boy sniffled softly, “I love you so much.” He whimpered faintly. He spoke so softly that it probably couldn't even be heard.
But Paul heard him.
“I love you too.” He cooed, leaning forward and kissing the tears on (Your Name)’s cheeks. He moved his lips down to his chin, where some of the tears clung to the area, kissing the spot. Then, he trailed the kisses back up, his lips caressing his right cheek before moving the left one. Finally, he moved back, capturing his love's lips into another kiss. This kiss was soft and tender.
The lovers broke apart and looked into each other's eyes.
Their tender moment ended when they heard someone walking towards them. They turned and saw it was Chani.
“I don't believe you're the Lisan al-Gaib,” She said to Paul before turning her head to (Your Name), “But I do believe you are the Haris Aldaw’.” She gave the boy a small smile, but it faded quickly.
(Your Name) smiled softly at the girl, pressing himself closer to Paul's body.
Chani turned her attention back to Paul, “But I want you to die with honor.” She reached and gave him a blade, “This crysknife was given to me by my great aunt. It's made from a tooth of Shai-Hulud. The great sandworm. This will be a great honor for you to die holding it.”
Paul took the blade with his gloved hand, observing it as (Your Name) looked at Chani like she was crazy for assuming that Paul was going to die. But he had to admit being given such a blade was honorable.
“Where is the Outworlder?!” Jamis shouted, walking back and forth around the fighting area.
The trio's eyes went to him, and then the lovers turned to Chani when she spoke, “Jamis is a good fighter. He won't let you suffer.”
Chani was about to walk away, but (Your Name) stopped her when he reached his hand out and touched her shoulder before he spoke, “It's nice to meet you, Chani.” He spoke, a kind smile on his face.
Chani nodded her head to the boy, lips lifting up into a small, playful smirk, “You too, (Your Name).”
Paul grabbed his boyfriend's hand and walked over to the fighting area where Jamis was squatting, waiting for Paul.
Paul turned to (Your Name) seeing his scared expression. He reached his hand out and cupped the side of his face, “I will be alright, love.”
(Your Name) lent into the touch, rubbing his cheek against Paul's gloved hand, “I know you will be.” He whispered, a soft smile on his face.
Paul returned the small smile and leaned forward and kissed the boy, their lips moving in perfect sync. Paul kissed him with the same passion as their first kiss, making the boy whimper against his lips, gripping at his waist.
He pulled back from (Your Name)’s lips, both of them panting softly. He nudged his nose against his comfortingly before walking over to where Jamis waited.
(Your Name) walked over to Jessica. The older woman wrapped her arms around the boy, comforting him while he watched the love of his life get ready to fight in his place.
“May thy knife chip and shatter.” Jamis spat, standing up from his kneeling position.
Paul just stared, a serious expression on his face before he saluted using his blade.
With word from the Fremen, speaking Chakobsa in unison, the fight commenced.
Jamis pounded his chest with his fist before throwing a punch at Paul. Paul skillfully blocked the attack and started to fight. He was deflecting hits well, getting hits on Jamis as well who returned the hits.
At one point, they were on the ground before Paul skillfully got back up and was now slightly crouching, matching Jamis’ stance when he got up. Now, they were trying to slice and stab one another with their crysknives.
Then, Paul got close and laid the crysknife on Jamis’ throat,
“Do you yield?”
Paul's aggressive yell made the Fremen speak and exclaim amongst themselves. (Your Name) held onto Jessica tighter, inhaling and exhaling softly in worry.
“The boy doesn't know our rule. There's no yielding under the amtal rule. Only death is the test of it.”
Stilgar's words made (Your Name)’s eyes widened in fear as he turned his attention back onto the fight, worry gnawing away at him.
Jamis moved out of Paul's grip, and they started fighting again. Paul kept landing hits and dodging attacks, placing the blade against Jamis' neck many times. He was not aiming to kill. This made Jamis impatient and angrier.
“Is he toying with him?” Stilgar asked the women.
“No.” (Your Name) replied softly, “Paul has never killed a man.”
Jamis had shoved Paul onto the ground hard, yelling; provoking Paul.
Paul stood up, his curly hair covering his face slightly, staring at Jamis with a determined look.
(Your Name) felt Paul's determination in his soul. His worry is no longer there. His heart was beating faster as he watched.
When Jamis charged, Paul attacked. He dodged the attack, got behind Jamis, and while not looking at him, stabbed the crysknife into his side, ending the fight. He pulled out the blade with a grunt and stepped away a little. Jamis’ body falls to the ground. Paul kneels by his side and holds his hand as he dies.
Paul had become the man he was supposed to be, even if he didn't want to.
(Your Name) let out a shaky exhale as he watched it all go down. All the Fremen stood up, moving down to take their defeated friend. Stilgar closed Jamis’ unmoving eyes.
Paul stood up and walked away slowly. The Fremen patted his shoulders on the way as he made his way over to where his boyfriend was, his head down.
(Your Name) left Jessica's arms as he jogged over to Paul. They met on the side of the fighting area. They made eye contact and (Your Name) saw it. Just by looking into Paul's eyes; the old Paul was gone.
Paul's face held so much sorrow and dread. It made (Your Name)’s heart clench. He saw tears well up in Paul's eyes, and he didn't even hesitate to hug him tightly.
The curly haired boy hugged back just as tightly, wrapping his arms around his love's waist, breathing heavily and shakily through his nose.
(Your Name) pulled away to look at Paul's face. He wiped the smeared blood under his nose with his thumb. Paul's lips quivered terribly at his gentle touch.
The blue-eyed boy cupped Paul's face in his hands, thumbs caressing his cheeks. “It's okay,” He cooed, “You're okay.”
Paul just stared at his boy, looking into his soft sapphire blue eyes, watching him lean closer to him. He gently placed his lips against his. Their lips immediately started moving against each other.
(Your Name) could feel Paul's lips trembling against his, so he kept the kiss slow and gentle. Paul rubbed his thumbs against the sides of the boy's stomach, making him breathe out a soft whistle from his nose, sounding like a breathy giggle.
The reaction was all Paul needed to feel better as they pulled away from the kiss, but not entirely; their lips were now just caressing each other's.
“You did what you had to Paul…” He whispered, brushing her nose against his.
Paul closed his eyes, sighing softly as he pressed his forehead against (Your Name)’s. “I love you so much…” He breathed out, his voice shaky.
“I love you too.” He whispered back, nuzzling his nose against his again, which he graciously returned.
“You're one of us now. A life for a life.” Stilgar's voice broke the couple apart, “Come with us to Sietch Tabr.” He looked between the couple.
“No,” Jessica interjected, “They need to get off-world. You must have ways. You have smugglers, you have ships. You have-”
“No.” Paul stopped his mother, “The Emperor sent us to this place. And my father came, not for spice, not for the riches, but for the strength of your people.” Paul glanced down to the love of his life, seeing him smile at him, nodding his head; “Our road leads into the desert. I can see it. If you'll have us, we will come.”
〰️
The Fremen led (Your Name), Paul and Jessica into the desert as they walked on the sand. Some carried Jamis’ lifeless body, now wrapped in white cloth.
The sun was now high, and the sky a soft blue.
(Your Name) stopped, admiring the scenery. He looked closer and saw someone, more like a Fremen, riding a worm through the sand.
“Desert power.” He whispered in awe, smiling widely at the sight. HE thought about if he could do something like that or something greater.
Chani heard him, turning around to smile at (Your Name), “This is only the beginning.”
The blue-eyed boy smiled to himself, watching Chani walk off. Then, he felt a hand on his jawline. The hand turned his head to face, whoever it belonged to. It was Paul.
With his attention on him now, Paul kissed him passionately. The boy hummed against his lips, placing his hands on the sides of Paul's neck.
The couple pull away, both of them smiling softly before they rub their noses against each other's.
They looked into each other's eyes as the sun shined down brightly on them.
Their journey was only beginning.

“My thumper saved their lives. Go back to reason, Stilgar. She's not the Haris Aldaw’, and he's not The One.” Jamis snapped back, gesturing to the two teens individually.
(Your Name) was about to prove the male wrong, but Jessica spoke up before she could act.
Stilgar observed the trio, “The girl and boy are young. They can learn our ways. They may have sanctuary. But the woman isn't trained and too old to learn.” He made his way down his spot on the rocks, jumping in front of the trio.
The blue-eyed girl stepped in front of Stilgar. “You don't want to do this, Stilgar.” She warned in a low, threatening tone, staring at the older man.
Stilgar paused when he looked into the girl's eyes. ‘Sapphire blue…. the color of cobalt. They're his eyes.’ He thought to himself.
Paul and Jessica started fighting other Fremen who tried to attack them, while Stilgar lunged at (Your Name). The girl summoned the Keyblade and blocked his knife with it. Stilgar stilled at the sight of the key shaped blade, giving (Your Name) the chance to push Stilgar away from her.
She got into a fighting stance. Stilgar lunged at her again but (Your Name) dodged rolled out of the way and the two started to fight.
Their blades clanged as they collided with each other. At one point, Stilgar managed to disarm (Your Name), the Keyblade flinging out of her hand. Stilgar pointed his blade at the girl's throat.
Everyone else stopped fighting to see this happen. Jessica was worried when (Your Name) was disarmed. Paul, on the other hand, was about to run back down to help his love. But, something unexpected happened.
(Your Name) smirked at Stilgar and raised her hand to the side of her. To everyone's shock, the Keybalde disappeared and reappeared in her hand.
The move took Stilgar off guard and she knocked his crysknife out of his hand. He tried to back away but she shot off a Blizzard spell at the older man, freezing his legs in place. The attack stunned him and (Your Name) pointed her Keybalde at him threateningly.
“I did warn you.” She growled.
Paul felt a shiver run down his spine at (Your Name)’s tone. His cheeks felt warmer and his eyes became hazy as he panted softly, loving the sight of his love being threatening.
Stilgar was in awe at this girl's power.
“Peace, woman. Peace. I judged hastily.”
The girl sighed softly, using her Fire magic to unfreeze Stilgar.
“The sun is rising. We must reach Sietch Tabr.” Stilgar informed the Fremen in their language, “The fate of the strangers will be decided there. Until then, they are under my countenance. My word is on them.” He opened up his stillsuit a little, cutting his skin to show his promise and the other Fremen followed alongside.
Paul walked up to (Your Name), who now made her Keyblade disappear. She looked at Paul, seeing he brought another girl with him, making her curious as to who she was. The male came over and gave his friend a tight hug, which she returned. They parted when they heard Stilgar speak in Fremen language,
“We must go!”
Stilgar walked up to Paul and in English told him to give back the maula pistol he stole when he ran off when the fighting occurred.
Then, Stilgar addressed the woman standing close to Paul, “Chani, take charge of the newcomers. See that they are safe on the journey. Let's go.”
(Your Name) looked at the girl who came with Paul. ‘She must be Chani.’ She thought to herself.
“I will not have them.” A voice spoke out.
“Jamis, I have spoken. Be still.” Stilgar said, and (Your Name) narrowed her eyes on Jamis, standing close to Paul.
“You talk like a leader. But the strongest leads. She bested you. I invoke the amtal.”
(Your Name) summoned her Keyblade again, ready to fight him but Paul grabbed her arm gently, stopping her. Jessica walked forward as well but was stopped by Stilgar's voice.
“You may not challenge a sayyadina. Nor the Haris Aldaw’.”
Jamis looked at (Your Name). “Then who will fight in her name?”
Stilgar turned back around to his friend, “Jamis, don't do this. Don't. The night is fading.”
“Then the sun will witness this death. Where is her champion?” Jamis asked the group in a growl.
Paul looked at (Your Name), giving her a subtle determined and serious look before he stepped forward to accept the challenge.
“No… Paul don't-” She whispered, going up to follow him, but was stopped by a hand on her shoulder. She turned to see Chani, who shook her head gently.
“I accept her champion.” Jamis nodded his head.
〰️
Everyone was getting ready for the fight.
(Your Name) walked over to Paul, who was getting ready to fight Jamis.
She saw Paul staring ahead and she guessed that he was seeing another vision. (Your Name) placed a hand on the arm that was stretched out in front of him, his hand on a rock.
Paul snapped out of his trance when he felt her gentle touch and turned to look at her.
“You don't have to do this, Paul. I could do it. I can fight him.”
The curly haired boy frowned and shook his head, taking the hand that held his arm in his. “Absolutely not. You're not doing it, (Your Name).”
“But-” (Your Name) started to protest but was interrupted by Paul.
“You're too important,” He let out a shaky breath, “You're too important to me.” Paul placed his free hand on the girl's cheek, cupping her face.
“I would search every possible universe just to get you back, (Your Name). That's how important you are to me.” He looked into her sapphire blue eyes.
(Your Name) felt her eyes get watery at Paul's confession. “Paul… I feel the exact same way about you too,” She cupped the sides of his face, “But please…. be careful. I don't know what I would do if you got hurt or got killed.” She whispered, sniffling. “I can't lose you.”
Paul moved closer to (Your Name), their bodies gently pressed against each other's. He wrapped his arms around the girl's waist, pressing the side of the face against hers. (Your Name) returned the hug, wrapping her arms around Paul's neck. They stayed like this for a few moments before pulling away a little, but their hands stayed on their respective places. Paul's hands on (Your Name)’s waist, and (Your Name)’s hands on Paul's shoulders.
“You won't lose me.” Paul whispered.
“You promise?” (Your Name) whispered to him, feeling tears well up in her eyes.
“I promise.” Paul whispered back passionately.
The childhood friends pressed their foreheads against each other's. They were so close that they could feel their breaths against their lips.
(Your Name) could feel her heart beating fast as she looked into Paul's hazel green eyes. Her heart beating even faster when Paul leant in, parting his lips. Before she knew it, Paul's lips gently crashed against hers. She gasped softly at the feeling but kissed back almost immediately. (Your Name) felt butterflies form in her stomach, making her body tremble as Paul kissed her. Paul wrapped his arms around her while she wrapped her arms around Paul's neck. He pulled her even closer, leaving no space between them. (Your Name)’s eyes fluttered shut as did Paul's.
Their lips were moving in sync against each other; soft and slow. (Your Name) moved her arms and slid her hands to Paul's curly brown hair, feeling the soft locks in between her fingers. Paul seemed to love the feeling as he moaned softly against her lips, opening his mouth and the tip of his tongue caressed (Your Name)’s bottom lip.
The action made the (Hair Color) haired girl let out a breath through her nose. But she felt her knees tremble when Paul's tongue did it again; but this time, his tongue caressed her top lip right after the bottom lip. He was silently asking for entry. She opened her mouth without hesitation, giving him access; letting out a muffled moan when she felt Paul's tongue slide into her mouth, caressing her tongue with his. The butterflies in her belly danced more frantically as they two made out, their tongues caressing each other's, as they held onto each other for dear life.
The two turned their heads in opposite directions, wanting to deepen the kiss even further. When Paul's tongue circled around (Your Name)’s slowly, she almost keeled over, feeling her knees weaken more. Paul held her up, making sure she stayed where she was and not letting the kiss break. The action made (Your Name) whimper into Paul’s mouth.
Paul moved his left hand into (Your Name)’s hair, his fingers running through the (straight/curly/wavy) strands. (Your Name) hummed into Paul's mouth as she carded her fingers through Paul's soft curly locks.
He breathed heavily as he pressed his forehead to hers.
It took some willpower to keep Paul from kissing her again at that reaction.
“I love you too… more than anything.” (Your Name) breathed out, feeling the tears that welled up in her eyes fall, trailing down her cheeks. She moved her hands out of Paul's hair and cupped his jawline. “Be careful…. please.” She whispered to him.
Paul nuzzled his nose against (Your Name)’s, comforting her. “I promise.” He repeated the gesture, “For you, my love, I promise…”
The blue-eyed girl sniffled softly, “I love you so much.” She whimpered faintly. She spoke so softly that it probably couldn't even be heard.
But Paul heard her.
“I love you too.” He cooed, leaning forward and kissed the tears on (Your Name)’s cheeks. He moved his lips down to her chin where some of the tears clung to the area, kissing the spot. Then, he trailed the kisses back up, his lips caressing her right cheek before moving the left one. Finally, he moved back, capturing her lips into another kiss. This kiss was soft and tender.
The lovers broke apart and looked into each other's eyes.
Their tender moment ended when they heard someone walking towards them. They turned and saw it was Chani.
“I don't believe you're the Lisan al-Gaib,” She said to Paul, before turning her head to (Your Name), “But I do believe you are the Haris Aldaw’.” She gave the girl a small smile but it faded quickly.
(Your Name) smiled softly at the girl, pressing herself closer to Paul's body.
Chani turned her attention back to Paul, “But I want you to die with honor.” She reached and gave him a blade, “This crysknife was given to me by my great aunt. It's made from a tooth of Shai-Hulud. The great sandworm. This will be a great honor, for you to die holding it.”
Paul took the blade with his gloved hand, observing it as (Your Name) looked at Chani like she was crazy for assuming that Paul was going to die. But she had to admit being given such a blade was honorable.
“Where is the Outworlder?!” Jamis shouted, walking back and forth around the fighting area.
The trio's eyes went to him then the lovers turned to Chani when she spoke, “Jamis is a good fighter. He won't let you suffer.”
Chani was about to walk away, but (Your Name) stopped her when she reached her hand out and touched her shoulder before she spoke, “It's nice to meet you, Chani.” She spoke, a kind smile on her face.
Chani nodded her head to the girl, lips lifting up into a small, playful smirk, “You too, (Your Name).”
Paul grabbed his girlfriend's hand, and walked over to the fighting area where Jamis was squatting, waiting for Paul.
Paul turned to (Your Name) seeing her scared expression. He reached his hand out and cupped the side of her face, “I will be alright, love.”
(Your Name) lent into the touch, rubbing her cheek against Paul's gloved hand, “I know you will be.” She whispered, a soft smile on her face.
Paul returned the small smile and leant forward and kissed the girl, their lips moving in perfect sync. Paul kissed her with the same passion as their first kiss, making the girl whimper against his lips, gripping at his waist.
He pulled back from (Your Name)’s lips, both of them panting softly. He nudged his nose against hers comfortingly before walking over to where Jamis waited.
(Your Name) walked over to Jessica. The older woman wrapped her arms around the girl, comforting her while she watched the love of her life get ready to fight in her place.
Stilgar's words made (Your Name)’s eyes widened in fear as she turned her attention back onto the fight, worry gnawing away at her.
(Your Name) felt Paul's determination in her soul. Her worry is no longer there. Her heart was beating faster as she watched.
(Your Name) let out a shaky exhale as she watched it all go down. All the Fremen stood up, moving down to take their defeated friend. Stilgar closed Jamis’ unmoving eyes.
Paul stood up and walked away slowly. The Fremen patted his shoulders on the way as he made his way over to where his girlfriend was, his head down.
(Your Name) left Jessica's arms as she jogged over to Paul. They met on the side of the fighting area. They made eye contact and (Your Name) saw it. Just by looking into Paul's eyes; the old Paul was gone.
Paul's face held so much sorrow and dread. It made (Your Name)’s heart clench. She saw tears well up in his eyes and she didn't even hesitate to hug him tightly.
The curly haired boy hugged back just as tightly, wrapping his arms around her waist, breathing heavily and shakily through his nose.
(Your Name) pulled away to look at Paul's face. She wiped the smeared blood under his nose with her thumb. Paul's lips quivered terribly at her gentle touch.
The blue-eyed girl cupped his face in her hands, thumbs caressing his cheeks. “It's okay,” She cooed, “You're okay.”
Paul just stared at his girl, looking into her soft sapphire blue eyes, watching her lean closer to him. She gently placed her lips against his. Their lips immediately started moving against each other.
(Your Name) could feel Paul's lips trembling against hers, so she kept the kiss slow and gentle. Paul rubbed his thumbs against the sides of the girl's stomach, making her breathe out a soft whistle from her nose, sounding like a breathy giggle.
The reaction was all Paul needed to feel better as they pulled away from the kiss, but not entirely; their lips were now just caressing each other's.
“You did what you had to Paul…” She whispered, brushing her nose against his.
Paul closed his eyes, sighing softly as he pressed his forehead against (Your Name)’s. “I love you so much…” He breathed out, his voice shaky.
“I love you too.” She whispered back, nuzzling her nose against his again, which he graciously returned.
And my father came, not for spice, not for the riches, but for the strength of your people.” Paul glanced down to the love of his life, seeing her smile at him, nodding her head; “Our road leads into the desert. I can see it. If you'll have us, we will come.”
〰️
The Fremen led (Your Name), Paul and Jessica into the desert, as they walked on the sand. Some carried Jamis’ lifeless body, now wrapped in white cloth.
The sun was now high and the sky a soft blue.
(Your Name) stopped, admiring the scenery. She looked closer and saw someone, more like a Fremen, riding a worm through the sand.
“Desert power.” She whispered in awe, smiling widely at the sight. She thought about if she could do something like that, or something greater.
Chani heard her, turning around to smile at (Your Name), “This is only the beginning.”
The blue-eyed girl smiled to herself, watching Chani walk off. Then, she felt a hand on her jawline. The hand turned her head to face whoever it belonged to. It was Paul.
With her attention on him now, Paul kissed her passionately. The girl hummed against his lips, placing her hands on the sides of his neck.
The couple pull away, both of them smiling softly before they rub their noses against each other's.
They looked into each other's eyes as the sun shined down brightly on them.
Their journey was only beginning.

Chapter 11: Walking the Sand
〰️
The trio ran through the hallways to get to the Ornithopter that was set up for them outside.
They arrive at it, but Heartless materialized to slow them down. (Your Name) summoned his Keyblade.
“Get it working, I'll handle them!”
The mother and son nodded as they ran to the Ornithopter.
(Your Name) slashed at the Heartless and casted Blizzard and Fire to get rid of them. Luckily, not many appeared, and he managed to beat all of them.
“(Your Name)!”
The call of his name reached his ears as he turned and saw Paul waving his arm out to get his attention.
“Come on!”
The (Hair Color) haired boy ran to them and hopped into the thopter. He buckled himself in as Jessica did the same.
Paul goes to the pilots chair but not before pressing a kiss onto (Your Name)’s forehead. The boy gave his hand a squeeze in return.
Paul fired up the aircraft, flicking on all the buttons needed. He started to fly the Ornithopter across the desert, away from the Sardaukar trying to kill them.
(Your Name) heard other motors and looked at the mirror on the side of the thropter. “Jet flyers.”
“They're right behind us.” Jessica added.
Paul flew faster and headed directly toward the sandstorm.
(Your Name) let out a yelp as he held on for dear life.
The thopter started beeping. An alarm was going off. It was sensing something coming at them. Paul just pushed the lever forward more.
“Paul. We're not high enough!” Jessica yelled.
“Trust him!” (Your Name) yelled after.
Paul smirked confidently at his love's statement, and they entered into the sandstorm. The ship rocked violently, getting destroyed by the harsh storm. He heard and saw orange, flashing lights in the sand as the jet flyers’ missiles exploded, thanks to the sandstorm. As he flew, he heard voices. A friendly male voice spoke to him, telling him to go with the flow of the process. Join it.
Paul had let go of the driving lever and held onto his straps, leaning back and closing his eyes. Jessica and (Your Name) watched him do this and followed his lead.
The thopter was flying in the wind, moving freely. (Your Name) felt how it moved with the wind, traveling with it like it was a part of it. He held on tighter and closed his eyes. The thropter's alarm beeps rapidly.
“We're above five thousand meters.” Paul said.
The cloud eventually disappeared, the view becoming clear again. Paul kept a steady grip on the lever to keep the Ornithopter in control as it rocked and rattled violently. As they flew up higher, sand got into the thropter. Luckily, the trio's faces were covered. Paul and Jessica with scarves while (Your Name) pulled his shirt up to cover his nose and mouth.
They reached a higher altitude, and the flying was smooth for a while, especially now that the sandstorm had cleared up.
“As soon as we land, run for the rocks.” Paul told Jessica and (Your Name).
Though, the thopter began to free fall out of the sky, spinning and turning. Jessica whimpered while (Your Name) let out a scream, holding on even tighter. The out-of-control Ornithopter landed hard on the ground, sliding across the sand. It eventually stopped, landing on its side.
(Your Name) let out a sigh of relief. Paul helped him out of thopter, carrying him bridal style. He placed him on his feet and checked the boy for scratches, his hand on (Your Name)'s cheek.
“Good. You're okay.” Paul whispered, pressing a kiss onto his forehead before grabbing the stuff they needed. He took (Your Name)’s hand and ran towards the rocks, Jessica following close behind.
When they got up far enough on the rock, Paul started to take out some things. His hand touches something foreign. He pulled out, and it was a crysknife. He immediately knew who this belonged to.
“My crysknife.” (Your Name) whispered, walking up to Paul. He gingerly took it from Paul's hand, caressing the blade with his fingertips. He frowned before putting it back in a bag for now.
Paul and Jessica started to get the stillsuits out and started to change into them. (Your Name) stood by, occasionally glancing at Paul as he changed in front of him, feeling his cheeks heat up at the sight of his bare body. The boy felt his friend's gaze on him, and he smirked a little to himself.
“Aren't you going to change (Your Name)?” Jessica asked.
“My clothes…” He gestured to the colorful ensemble, “are magical. They can change at will.” He replied. Jessica nodded and continued to change.
The mother and son finished changing, (Your Name) came over to help Jessica with her stillsuit.
“You breathe through this,” (Your Name) showed Jessica a thin device that was on the stillsuit and fixed it for her.
Once they were finished, they packed up everything and started their journey to find the Fremen.
(Your Name) looked around, on alert, in case any Heartless showed up.
“Now we have to find the Fremen.” Paul told them, his voice muffled by his mask. “Are you good?” He asked his mother.
“Yeah.” Jessica replied with a nod.
“Let's go.” (Your Name) nodded to the two, walking across the sand, still alert, and led them through the caves in the mountains.
〰️
The group had stopped for a little while, sitting on rocks. (Your Name); his clothes switched to a stillsuit, saw Paul stare off into the horizon, in a daze again; not knowing he was seeing him in his vision.
Paul was following (Your Name) down the mountain caves, stopping when he stopped by a small gap between two rocks. He was looking at something. He comes over and sees he's looking at something in a cocoon. A little desert mouse was being brought to life.
The curly haired male knelt down to his level, still being higher than him as they knelt down on the ground, watching.
Paul looked down at (Your Name) through his eyelashes. He was smiling sweetly at the sight. Paul smiled softly at the sigh of his love and laid his head on top of his, rubbing his cheek against his hair. The blue-eyed boy blushed lightly at the action but smiled softly and continued to watch the desert mouse, with Paul now watching too.
A familiar voice was telling him that he has to face his fears and someone will help him.
The vision ended, and Paul snapped out of his state. He looked at (Your Name) and took his hand, giving it a squeeze. (Your Name) returned the gesture as they shared a look, their gazes softening; before they started walking again.
The desert became dimmer as the sun started to set. “The sietch where Duncan lived is somewhere off that way.” Paul told them, holding the paracompass that Duncan gifted him.
(Your Name) took out some binoculars from his bag; that also held his crysknife and looked through them. “I can see greenery over there. That means Fremen live there.” She spoke.
“We'll cross after dark. That's how the Fremen do it.” Paul said, after grabbing the binoculars from (Your Name), “We're about to enter worm territory. We can't walk like regular humans. If we do, we're dead.” He warned. “We'll have to walk like the Fremen do.”
(Your Name) hummed in agreement, “The film we watched. Fremen invented their own walk. It's called the sandwalk. At least according to the film books back home.”
Jessica nodded, “Yeah. Yeah, okay.”
“Okay, follow us. Do the same moves.” Paul instructed, then started doing the sandwalk with (Your Name) behind him and Jessica behind her.
They continued their slow steps in the sand as the night came. Paul used his paracompass to help guide them. “I think this is the right direction.” He said.
The trio climbed sand dunes and took breaks in between. On one of those breaks, (Your Name) heard distant rumbling, but it faded quickly. Paul and Jessica noticed too, but they brushed it off. They continued their walk but paused again to look behind them. “It's close by. Let's get out of here.” Paul said as he kept walking. Jessica followed, but (Your Name) had a bad feeling. Then, he heard a soft thud.
“Wait…” He muttered. He stopped, and the rumbling started again after he stomped his foot. “It's drum sand.”
In the distance, sand moved upward, and it seemed to be heading toward them. Jessica let out a gasp.
“Run.” Paul commanded, grabbing (Your Name)’s hand in his and ran across the sand, away from the sand worm. Jessica ran, too, not far behind the teens.
As they ran, out of nowhere, Heartless appeared in front of Paul and (Your Name), stopping them from running further. The shadow ones, the desert bandit ones and a new kind that looked like the sand was formed into spiky versions of the sand worm.

“Why now?!” (Your Name) exclaimed, summoning the Keyblade as his stillsuit changed to his outfit. The vibrations got louder. (Your Name) knew he didn't have much time.
((Music: Kingdom Hearts OST 33: Dance to the Death))
“Paul! Get Jessica and keep running! I'll handle this!”
The curly haired boy was hesitant to leave him, but knowing the sand worm was quickly approaching, he had no choice. He grabbed his mother's hand and started running again.
(Your Name) fought off the Heartless as fast as he could, slashing at them and casting magic. Once they were gone, he ran after the mother and son duo. The sand worm was hot on his trail, but every so often, Heartless appeared again, and (Your Name) had to fight them off, his heart rate increasing.
He started running again, but a loud thud from below his stopped him in his tracks. A giant creature emerged from the sand, blowing sand everywhere. He thought it was a sandworm, but right in front of him was a giant Heartless, shaped like the sand worm. But it had spikes all over its body and was twenty times bigger than the sand Heartless he just fought.
“Oh God.” He muttered, getting into a fighting stance. He had to beat this thing. With the real sandworm getting closer, he started to slash away at the sandworm Heartless. Slashing its body, its head, and casting Fire and Blizzard at it.
It lunged at him, using the sand to transport on top or burrow underneath and strike him from below.
(Your Name) let out a yell of pain when it attacked him. He growled and got back up and continued his attack on it.
At one point, he managed to climb onto it and started to go crazy on its head, slashing at it with his Keyblade.
He jumped off it before it could strike him. He repeated the process two more times until the sand worm Heartless disappeared, a pink crystal heart floated up into the sky.
((Music ends here))
The mother and son saw glimpses of the fight as they ran to get to a safe place. They grew more and more worried the further away the (Hair Color) haired boy got. Paul, especially, who felt his heart clench in fear.
They stop momentarily. “(Your Name!)” Paul screamed.
The boy heard Paul's scream and remembered that the real sandworm was right behind him. He started running again, going faster than he did before.
He saw the two of them on a rock and sped up.
The sandworm emerged from the sand just as (Your Name) jumped onto the rock. The monster fully emerged from the sand, blowing a strong breath out of its mouth. It stayed for a minute, seemingly observing its surroundings as the trio panted heavily. Then, rhythmic thumping could be heard.
Figuring out the noise, Paul spoke, “It's a thumper. Someone set off a thumper.”
Then, it turned around and disappeared into the sand once more. Jessica told the two to run as it did. They got to a different area on the rock.
They were safe.

The call of her name reached her ears as she turned and saw Paul waving his arm out to get her attention.
“Come on!”
The (Hair Color) haired girl ran to them and hopped into the thopter. She buckled herself in as Jessica did the same.
Paul goes to the pilots chair but not before pressing a kiss onto (Your Name)’s forehead. The girl gave his hand a squeeze in return.
Paul fired up the aircraft, flicking on all the buttons needed. He started to fly the Ornithopter across the desert, away from the Sardaukar, trying to kill them.
(Your Name) heard other motors and looked at the mirror on the side of the thropter. “Jet flyers.”
“They're right behind us.” Jessica added.
Paul flew faster and headed directly toward the sandstorm.
(Your Name) let out a yelp as she held on for dear life.
She held on tighter and closed her eyes.
Paul and Jessica with scarves while (Your Name) pulled her shirt up to cover her nose and mouth.
Paul helped her out of thopter, carrying her bridal style. He placed her on her feet and checked the girl for scratches, his hand on her cheek.
“Good. You're okay.” Paul whispered, pressing a kiss onto her forehead before grabbing the stuff they needed.
She gingerly took it from Paul's hand, caressing the blade with her fingertips. She frowned before putting it back in a bag for now.
Paul and Jessica started to get the stillsuits out and started to change into them. (Your Name) stood by, occasionally glancing at Paul as he changed in front of her, feeling her cheeks heat up at the sight of his bare body. The boy felt his friend's gaze on him and he smirked a little to himself.
“Aren't you going to change, (Your Name)?” Jessica asked.
“My clothes…” She gestured to the colorful ensemble, “are magical. They can change at will.” She replied. Jessica nodded, and continued to change.
(Your Name); her clothes switched to a stillsuit, saw Paul stare off into the horizon, in a daze again; not knowing he was seeing her in his vision.
Paul was following (Your Name) down the mountain caves, stopping when she stopped by a small gap between two rocks. She was looking at something. He comes over and sees she's looking at something in a cocoon. A little desert mouse was being brought to life.
The curly haired male knelt down to her level, still being higher than her as they knelt down on the ground, watching.
Paul looked down at (Your Name) through his eyelashes. She was smiling sweetly at the sight. Paul smiled softly at the sigh of his love and laid his head on top of hers, rubbing his cheek against her hair. The blue-eyed girl blushed lightly at the action but smiled softly and continued to watch the desert mouse, with Paul now watching too.
A familiar voice was telling him that he had to face his fears and that someone would help him.
The vision ended, and Paul snapped out of his state. He looked at (Your Name) and took her hand, giving it a squeeze. (Your Name) returned the gesture as they shared a look, their gazes softening; before they started walking again.
The desert became dimmer as the sun started to set. “The sietch where Duncan lived is somewhere off that way.” Paul told them, holding the paracompass that Duncan gifted him.
(Your Name) took out some binoculars from her bag; that also held her crysknife, and looked through them.
Then, she heard a soft thud.
“Wait…” She muttered. She stopped and the rumbling started again after she stomped her foot. “It's drum sand.”
In the distance, sand moved upward, and it seemed to be heading toward them. Jessica let out a gasp.
“Run.” Paul commanded, grabbing (Your Name)’s hand in his and ran across the sand, away from the sand worm. Jessica ran too, not far behind the teens.
As they ran, out of nowhere, Heartless appeared in front of Paul and (Your Name), stopping them from running further. The shadow ones, the desert bandit ones and a new kind that looked like the sand was formed into spiky versions of the sand worm.

(Here's what the sand Heartless look like)
“Why now?!” (Your Name) exclaimed, summoning the Keyblade as her stillsuit changed to her outfit. The vibrations got louder. (Your Name) knew she didn't have much time.
((Music: Kingdom Hearts OST 33: Dance to the Death))
“Paul! Get Jessica and keep running! I'll handle this!”
The curly haired boy was hesitant to leave her, but knowing the sand worm was quickly approaching, he had no choice. He grabbed his mother's hand and started running again.
(Your Name) fought off the Heartless as fast as she could, slashing at them and casting magic. Once they were gone, she ran after the mother and son duo. The sand worm was hot on her trail, but every so often, Heartless appeared again, and (Your Name) had to fight them off, her heart rate increasing.
She started running again, but a loud thud from below her stopped her in her tracks. A giant creature emerged from the sand, blowing sand everywhere. She thought it was a sandworm, but right in front of her was a giant Heartless, shaped like the sand worm. But it had spikes all over its body and was twenty times bigger than the sand Heartless she just fought.
“Oh God.” She muttered, getting into a fighting stance. She had to beat this thing. With the real sandworm getting closer, she started to slash away at the sandworm Heartless. Slashing its body, its head, and casting Fire and Blizzard at it.
It lunged at her, using the sand to transport on top or burrow underneath and strike her from below.
(Your Name) let out a yell of pain when it attacked her. She growled and got back up and continued her attack on it.
At one point, she managed to climb onto it and started to go crazy on its head, slashing at it with her Keyblade.
She jumped off it before it could strike her. She repeated the process two more times until the sand worm Heartless disappeared, a pink crystal heart floated up into the sky.
((Music ends here))
The mother and son saw glimpses of the fight as they ran to get to a safe place. They grew more and more worried the further away the (Hair Color) haired girl got. Paul, especially, who felt his heart clench in fear.
They stop momentarily. “(Your Name!)” Paul screamed.
The girl heard Paul's scream and remembered that the real sandworm was right behind her. She started running again, going faster than she did before.
She saw the two of them on a rock and sped up.

Chapter 10: Discovery and Sacrifice
〰️
Duncan had taken the trio back into the Ornithopter as it had become night in the desert.
(Your Name) was leaning against Paul, who had one of his arms wrapped around his shoulders. The two of them were covered in a blanket.
To the trio's surprise, Dr. Liet Kynes was there too.
‘Duncan must've found her after I jumped out the thopter. Let's hope I don't have to tell Paul I jumped out of a moving Ornithopter to save him and Jessica.’ (Your Name) thought to himself.
“Here.” Liet handed the trio something. “Drink this.”
“Harkonnens hit every population center on the planet at once. There must have been ten legions, hundreds of ships. There were Sardaukar with them. At least two battalions.” Duncan informed everyone, flying the aircraft.
“What? Are you sure?” Jessica asked softly, a blanket wrapped around her body.
“You cross swords with a Sardaukar, you know it.” Duncan replied, looking straight ahead after glancing at (Your Name). He nodded a little at Duncan's statement.
Jessica sighed, “So, the Emperor's taken a side.” She turned to Liet, “What says the Judge of the Change?”
Liet avoided eye contact, “The Emperor forbids me from saying anything at all.”
“And yet you risk your life to help us.” Paul fired back softly, pulling (Your Name) closer to his side. The boy nodded in agreement, looking at the doctor.
Liet looked away, not replying.
〰️
The sun was a pinkish orange; peeking out from behind the sand dunes when Duncan landed the Ornithopter on the land, far away from anything.
Everyone got out as other Fremen prepared for an upcoming sandstorm.
Paul and Jessica were now dressed in desert clothes. (Your Name) kept his Keyblade wielder outfit on, walking hand in hand with Paul.
Liet tried to convince him to change, but the boy said that his clothes were magical and he'll be alright.
“The storm will be here in a few hours. We'll be safe here,” Liet led the group into a bunker, “Do you know what this place is? It's an old ecological testing station. They were meant to tame the planet. Free the water locked beneath the sands.” She explained as the group followed close behind.
“Arrakis could have been a paradise. The work had begun, but then the spice was discovered. And suddenly, no one wanted the desert to go away.” She continued to explain, “Tanat, will you find stillsuits to fit our visitors?”
“Yes, Liet.” Tanat answered, walking off to get some.
“Shamir, a coffee service, please.” Liet ordered another Freman.
“Of course, Liet.” Shamir replied, walking off to fulfill her request.
“Who are you to the Fremen?” (Your Name) asked curiously.
Liet just turned to him and smiled, walking through another door with the trio. Duncan stayed behind, observing his surroundings more. (Your Name) swore he saw Duncan go after the one getting the stillsuits, but he only got a glimpse.
〰️
“Do you know what the Great Houses fear most, Dr. Kynes?” Paul asked, his hand picking up sand, “Exactly what has happened to us here. The Sardaukar coming and picking them off one by one.” Paul stood up and turned around, making eye contact with (Your Name) who stood next to Jessica.
“Only together can they stand a chance against the Imperium. Would you bear witness?” Paul started to walk forward towards the doctor, “Testify that the Emperor has moved against us here?”
“If they believe me, there would be general warfare between the Great Houses and the Emperor.”
“Chaos across the Imperium.” Jessica finished sharing a look with (Your Name) and Paul.
“Suppose me and (Your Name) present to the Emperor an alternative to chaos. The Emperor has no sons. And his daughters are yet to marry.” Paul said, offering the idea.
“You'd make a play for the throne?” Liet asked, bewildered by Paul's bold offer, “The Emperor feared the Atreides. He feared the Keyblade wielders. He brought you and (Your Name) here to kill you both. What don't you understand?”
Paul's eyes darkened.
“You're a lost boy hiding in a hole in the ground.” Liet concluded, staring at Paul who stared back.
(Your Name)’s eye twitched at the insult thrown at Paul. A lost boy hiding in the ground was the furthest thing Paul was.
“The Fremen speak of the Lisan al-Gaib and the Haris Aldaw’,” Paul started, walking around Liet.
“Careful.” Jessica warned quietly.
“The Guardian of Light, a legend that has come back to recent light; and The Voice from the Outer World who will lead them to paradise.” Paul spoke again.
“Superstition.” Liet muttered.
“I know you loved a Fremen warrior and lost him in battle.” Liet looked up at Paul in subtle surprise as he continued, “I know you walk in two worlds and are known by many names. I've seen your dream.” The male was now standing right in front of Liet.
“As emperor, Dr. Kynes, I could make a paradise of Arrakis with the wave of my hand.” Paul spoke, his tone deeper, raspier but soft.
(Your Name) felt his heartbeat pick up as butterflies formed in his stomach at the sound of his voice; knowing this man was his and his alone. No one can have him.
〰️
Meanwhile, in another room, soldiers were drinking water filtered from their spit.
“Do you really think he is the Mahdi?” One asked in Chakobsa, “And that other boy. Do you think he is the Hamil Alnuwr?”
“They look young to me.” Another replied.
Another one shushed them.
Meanwhile, one of them turned around, like he heard something.
〰️
With the talking done, (Your Name) walked over to Duncan, who was sitting outside the door, looking down at the sand.
The male felt the boy's presence and looked up. He could tell that he wanted to ask him something.
“What is it, (Your Name)? ” He asked the boy, his voice soft.
“Earlier, during the attack, before we had to fight. You saw what was branded on my back. What was it?”
Duncan stood up, remembering that moment. “It was some sort of symbol. Shaped like a heart.”
“Could you… draw it for me?” (Your Name) asked.
Duncan nodded without question and used his finger to draw out the symbol. The blue-eyed boy watched with bated breath.
Once Duncan finished, (Your Name) looked and felt his heartbeat pick up.
He recognized that symbol.
The Dream Eater symbol.
He kneeled down and touched the symbol with his index finger.
The moment he did this, he looked down at the symbol, his eyes glazed.
A vision showed him a dream he had.
In the dream, he saw Riku standing in the crystal blue water of an island that he assumed was his home island, Destiny Islands.
He turned his head towards him, and suddenly, the area around him turned dark, but he glowed through the pitch black. He was now mostly nude, but his hips and upward were most exposed. His body showed the battle scars he got from his journey. But the prominent one was on his back. The same symbol Duncan drew for her, scarred on his back.

“(Your Name).”
Riku’s soft, deep voice broke through the silence.
The boy turned to look into his eyes. Sapphire blue meeting turquoise.
“This is a part of you too.” He spoke softly. “Embrace it. Use it to protect the things that matter.”
He smiled softly at the boy before the vision ended.
(Your Name) came back to reality with a soft gasp. He breathed in and out softly, looking around. He saw he was back in the testing station.
“(Your Name)? (Your Name), are you alright?”
He heard Duncan's voice, and he turned to him. He had a concerned look on his face. (Your Name) nodded, affirming his well-being.
“I know what it means.” He whispered, gesturing to the symbol drawn in the sand.
“What?” Duncan asked.
“It's a part of me. It was passed down to me.”
“By who?”
Before the boy could respond, he felt a sudden change in the environment. The others felt it too because they were looking around now, their eyes landing on Duncan and (Your Name).
“Duncan…” (Your Name) whispered. The older male walked closely towards the other door. He opened it and dark smoke appeared and disappeared, the Heartless materializing.
“Oh no, the Heartless!” (Your Name) explained, summoning his Keyblade. “Stay back, everyone!”
But more trouble came; the Sardaukar emerged.
“Sardaukar!” Duncan yelled, getting out his blade.
Everyone in the back stayed put while Duncan and (Your Name) fought off the enemies.
Duncan slashed and stabbed the Sardaukar while (Your Name) slashed and used his magic to get rid of the Heartless. He even tried out a new spell he recently acquired, the Fire spell.
He shot fireballs from her Keyblade, quickly eliminating the Heartless.
Some manage to sneak past and try to attack Paul, Jessica, and Liet but (Your Name) shot fire at the Heartless before they could cause any harm to them.
More of them appeared near the defenseless group and (Your Name) stayed with them, fighting them off and protecting them.
Once the Heartless were eliminated, (Your Name) took a deep breath and exhaled. He looked around to see if more would appear. Luckily, they didn't.
However, when (Your Name) looked at Duncan, he saw that more Sardaukar were coming.
“There's more Sardaukar!” Duncan yelled. He went over to the door and pushed the button to close it.
“No! Duncan!” Paul yelled, running towards him. (Your Name) ran after Paul.
“Paul, (Your Name), no!” Jessica yelled after the two.
Duncan turned back around to the two best friends, saluting with his blade as the door got closer to shutting.
Paul and (Your Name) ran as fast as they could to try to stop Duncan, but just as they got to the door, it closed completely.
“Duncan, no!” The teens yelled desperately, pounding their fists against the door.
(Your Name) stepped back and summoned his Keyblade and tried to slash at the door, tears welling up in his eyes as he screamed the older male's name.
The two continue to attack the door, whether with fists or a weapon, desperately trying to open it.
The blue-eyed boy stepped away, ready to take another strike at the door, but a sudden, sharp pain hit his chest. He clutched his chest, falling onto his knees and letting out a groan of pain. Everyone looked at him with concern. The pain went away almost as soon as it hit.
Jessica knew what this meant.
But (Your Name) figured it out before the older woman could say anything.
“No… he's gone. He's gone!” He cried.
Paul continued to pound on the door with his fists temporarily, yelling Duncan's name.
“We have to go. We have no choice.” Liet called out.
Then, a noise could be heard. Seeing that the Sardaukar were trying to get in by cutting the door apart with a laser.
Jessica and Paul ran away from the door as the small laser fired and ripped through the door. Paul grabbed the still distraught (Your Name) by his arm and pulled him against his body. The boy was still tearing up at the loss of one of his most important people.
“Shh… it's okay…” Paul cooed, pressed a hard kiss onto his forehead. “I'm so sorry, baby.”
The (Hair Color) haired boy's tears didn't stop, but he gripped Paul's shirt and buried his face into Paul's chest, hoping that feeling some part of him would calm him down. “He's gone… he's gone Paul… We couldn't do anything. I couldn't do anything. I couldn't save him.” He whimpered, sniffling.
“I know. I know.” Paul buried his face into the boy's hair, pressing kisses onto the crown of his head, trying his best to comfort the distraught boy.
The laser stopped firing. “Come on. Come on, come on!” Liet yelled as she ran. The three followed after her, Paul and (Your Name) holding each other's hand; the latter wiping his cheeks with his free hand to rid it of tears. The group ran down the hallways Liet led them through.
As they did, (Your Name) felt one more shot of pain in his chest before it went away seconds later. He swallowed shakily to keep himself from crying again and kept running.
“Follow the light,” Liet ordered, “You'll find a thopter ready to fly. That storm out there is your best shot. Above 5,000 meters, it's mostly dust. Climb into it. Stay on top. Head south. Find the Fremen.” She handed the equipment to them.
“What about you?” (Your Name) asked.
“You're not coming with us?” Jessica asked breathlessly.
“It only seats two. Three, maybe but not four. I'll go to the next station and report this attack to the Landsraad.”
“How?” Jessica asked.
“I'm Fremen. The desert's my home.” Liet turned to (Your Name). “Protect them. Don't let them stray into the darkness.” She whispered to him. The boy nodded. “And you probably won't need a stillsuit. Part of the Haris Aldaw's power is that it is otherworldly. Protects you from other world's dangers.”
(Your Name) nodded. “All right.”
Liet adjusted the pack on her back. “Good luck.”
Paul and (Your Name) nodded to her and said in sync, “Good luck.”

A vision showed her a dream she had.
In the dream, she saw Riku standing in the crystal blue water of an island that she assumed was his home island, Destiny Islands.
He turned his head towards her, and suddenly, the area around him turned dark, but he glowed through the pitch black. He was now mostly nude, but his hips and upward were most exposed. His body showed the battle scars he got from his journey. But the prominent one was on his back. The same symbol Duncan drew for her, scarred on his back.

“(Your Name).”
Riku’s soft, deep voice broke through the silence.
The girl turned to look into his eyes. Sapphire blue meeting turquoise.
“This is a part of you too.” He spoke softly. “Embrace it. Use it to protect the things that matter.”
He smiled softly at the girl before the vision ended.
(Your Name) came back to reality with a soft gasp. She breathed in and out softly, looking around. She saw she was back in the testing station.
“(Your Name)? (Your Name), are you alright?”
She heard Duncan's voice and she turned to him. He had a concerned look on his face. She nodded, affirming her well-being.
“I know what it means.” She whispered, gesturing to the symbol drawn in the sand.
“What?” Duncan asked.
“It's a part of me. It was passed down to me.”
“By who?”
Before the girl could respond, she felt a sudden change in the environment. The others felt it too because they were looking around now, their eyes landing on Duncan and (Your Name).
“Duncan…” (Your Name) whispered. The older male walked closely towards the other door. He opened it and dark smoke appeared and disappeared, the Heartless materializing.
“Oh no, the Heartless!” (Your Name) explained, summoning her Keyblade. “Stay back everyone!”
But more trouble came; the Sardaukar emerged.
“Sardaukar!” Duncan yelled, getting out his blade.
Everyone in the back stayed put while Duncan and (Your Name) fought off the enemies.
Duncan slashed and stabbed the Sardaukar while (Your Name) slashed and used her magic to get rid of the Heartless. She even tried out a new spell she recently acquired, the Fire spell.
She shot fireballs from her Keyblade, quickly eliminating the Heartless.
Some manage to sneak past and try to attack Paul, Jessica, and Liet but (Your Name) shot fire at the Heartless before they could cause any harm to them.
More of them appeared near the defenseless group, and (Your Name) stayed with them, fighting them off and protecting them.
Once the Heartless were eliminated, (Your Name) took a deep breath and exhaled. She looked around to see if more would appear. Luckily, they didn't.
However, when (Your Name) looked at Duncan, she saw that more Sardaukar were coming.
(Your Name) stepped back and summoned her Keyblade and tried to slash at the door, tears welling up in her eyes as she screamed the older male's name.
The two continue to attack the door, whether with fists or a weapon, desperately trying to open it.
The blue-eyed girl stepped away, ready to take another strike at the door, but a sudden sharp pain hit her chest. She clutched her chest, falling onto her knees and letting out a groan of pain. Everyone looked at her with concern. The pain went away almost as soon as it hit.
Jessica knew what this meant.
But (Your Name) figured it out before the older woman could say anything.
“No… he's gone. He's gone!” She cried.
Paul grabbed the still distraught (Your Name) by her arm and pulled her against his body. The girl was still tearing up at the loss of one of her most important people.
“Shh… it's okay…” Paul cooed, pressed a hard kiss onto her forehead. “I'm so sorry, baby.”
The (hair color) haired girl's tears didn't stop but she gripped Paul's shirt and buried her face into Paul's chest, hoping that feeling some part of him would calm her down. “He's gone… he's gone Paul… We couldn't do anything. I couldn't do anything. I couldn't save him.” She whimpered, sniffling.
“I know. I know.” Paul buried his face into the girl's hair, pressing kisses onto the crown of her head, trying his best to comfort the distraught girl.
The laser stopped firing. “Come on. Come on, come on!” Liet yelled as she ran. The three followed after her, Paul and (Your Name) holding each other's hand; the latter wiping her cheeks with her free hand to rid it of tears. The group ran down the hallways Liet led them through.
As they did, (Your Name) felt one more shot of pain in her chest before it went away seconds later. She swallowed shakily to keep herself from crying again and kept running.
Three maybe but not four. I'll go to the next station and report this attack to the Landsraad.”
“How?” Jessica asked.
“I'm Fremen. The desert's my home.” Liet turned to (Your Name). “Protect them. Don't let them stray into the darkness.” She whispered to her. The girl nodded.

Chapter 9: A Look into the Future
〰️
The trio were now in a stilltent in the desert. (Your Name) was sitting next to Jessica, watching Paul open up the fremkit. (Your Name) had removed his jacket to feel a little more comfortable.
Paul pulled out some sort of paper with a diamond drawn on it, unwrapping it to read it, “This is Dr. Yueh's handwriting.” Paul told the two. (Your Name) couldn't help but think back to what he witnessed earlier at the mention of his name.
“If anyone makes it out of Arrakeen alive, there's an Atreides beacon in the fremkit. God willing they'll be able to find you.” Paul read the note.
He pulled out a thumper but stated that there were no stillsuits. But then, he pulled out a bundled up piece of cloth that wasn't supposed to be there. He unwrapped it and saw his father's ring, holding it in his hand. Just then, (Your Name) felt a pain in his chest as he looked at the ring. He felt it when the Duke was hit with the hunter-seeker, but it felt more intense. He clutched his chest and muffled his groans of pain by pressing his lips together. His eyes welled up with unshed tears.
He turned to Jessica, who was trembling, hugging her legs and suppressing her cries. He placed an arm around Jessica's shoulders, ignoring the pain in his chest. The older woman lent into the boy's embrace, appreciating the comfort, while (Your Name) and Paul exchanged eye contact.
Jessica saw (Your Name) clutch his chest when he saw the Duke's ring, knowing what it meant. Paul, meanwhile, saw this but didn't say anything. He knew what was wrong, but he wasn't ready to accept the reality yet.
(Your Name) dropped his arm from around Jessica when he heard Paul coughing as he turned on a small light that showed spice. The boy's expression slowly turned into concern for his best friend. Jessica also looked in concern.
“There's spice in the tent.” Paul told them.
He observed the light and continued to cough until suddenly, Paul looked up slowly, eyes glazed and mouth slightly agape, like he was in a trance.
In his vision, he saw (Your Name) in his outfit, walking along the sand. He stopped as he got to the top of the sand dune. He turned around and smiled brightly, his sapphire blue eyes sparkling and his hair covering his face a little.
He kept smiling as he turned his head around again to show the land below the sand dune she was standing on. Down on the ground, soldiers were fighting. A brutal war was happening. Soldiers emerged from the sand and ruthlessly killed their enemy.
One of the soldier's helmets lifted after taking down multiple enemy soldiers, revealing Paul with the Fremen's characteristic blue spice-laced eyes, holding a knife in his hand, breathing heavily.
Paul had tears in his eyes, a few running down his face, and (Your Name) couldn't help but watch Paul, frozen in place. His face showed concern, while Paul's face showed fear.
“That's the future. It's coming.” He started muttering, “Holy war is spreading across the universe like unquenchable fire.”
More horrifying visions flashed before him. The soldiers were victorious in their battle and few held flags, representing their group. Bodies burning and an airship in the dark, cloudy sky. It was open, and a few people were in it, but he couldn't tell who.
(Your Name), and Jessica shared a look of concern. The mother spoke up softly, “Paul, you're scared. I can see it. Tell me, please, what do you see?”
In this vision, he saw (Your Name) fighting a ton of Heartless with an assortment of magic and slashing at them with his Keyblade. He was breathing heavily as he fought the monsters, his eyes narrowed and showing anger and determination.
“(Your Name).... the Heartless…. a battle… between Light and Darkness.” He muttered.
‘It's just like my dreams. The Keyblade wielders were fighting the same battle.’ (Your Name) thought to himself. He was starting to feel uneasy.
“What else do you see? I know you're scared. What is it you fear?” Jessica murmured to the nearly catatonic Paul.
Another vision came to Paul. This time, it was him and (Your Name) standing next to each other, dressed in black, with their arms wrapped around each other; Paul's eyes blue from the spice. They watched the war; all the killing, happening below them from the same airborne airship from one of his previous visions; where they were safe.
“Somebody help me, please.” Paul wheezed desperately as tears started running down his face.
“Paul…” (Your Name) reached his hand out to try to touch him so he could help. But Paul shuffled away, backing into the corner of the tent.
“It's coming. I see a holy war spreading across the universe like unquenchable fire,” Paul's legs skidding into the ground, feeling trapped in the claustrophobic tent. He spoke in a panic as he looked around desperately, “A warrior religion that waves the Atreides banner in my father's name. Fanatical legion worshiping at the shrine of my father's skull.”
“A war in my name! Everyone's shouting my name!” He was now yelling as he continued to shuffle around, trying to escape. His emotions and visions of the future were too much for him to handle.
(Your Name) had his hands over his mouth, his eyes watery at Paul's haunting words and how he was acting; wanting nothing more than to help the suffering boy.
Jessica moved closer to her son. “Paul Atreides. You are your father's son. You are my son. You are Duke Paul Atreides.” She kissed the side of Paul's head, hugging him, “You know who you are. You know who you are.”
“Get off me!” Paul yelled, the Voice coming through in its strong, deep, and distorted tone.
(Your Name) jumped at his voice, backing away in fear and surprise, along with Jessica. The (Hair Color) haired boy had never seen Paul like this. Never heard him yell like this. He's never been this angry in all the years he's known him.
He felt afraid.
“You did this to me! You Bene Gesserit made me a freak!” Paul yelled angrily.
At her son yelling at her, Jessica's body trembled, tears running down her cheeks. While (Your Name) just stared at Paul in shock and fear.
Paul was breathing heavily, falling sideways onto the stilltent ground. He steadied his breathing and looked up at (Your Name).
The sight of his fearful expression made him realize what he had done, and he sobbed out, his voice wobbly, “(Your Name).... please… please don't look at me like that. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I scared you.”
The tears in (Your Name)'s eyes fell down his cheeks, the frightened look on his face slowly going away and changed into a look of worry and sadness.
He reached a trembling hand out to him, “(Your Nickname)...”
At the sound of his nickname, the boy wasted no time and scrambled over to his broken best friend. The boy he loved so much. He collected him in his arms, wrapping them around his body. Paul adjusted to a slouched kneeling position as his head went into his chest.
“Please hold me… please… I need you… I need you so much. Don't let me go. Please, don't let me go, (Your Nickname).”
Paul's sob was a mix of a plea and a beg, his tears freely running down his cheeks and landing on (Your Name)’s black shirt. His hands gripped the back of it, holding onto him like a lifeline. Like he was the only thing that could keep him grounded in reality.
(Your Name) nuzzled his nose into Paul's curly hair, arms becoming tighter as Paul repeated his plea into his chest. “Shhh…. it's alright, baby. It's alright. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere.” He cooed. “It'll be okay.” He pressed soft kisses onto the top of his head.
Paul cried harder, “My father is dead.”
It took everything in (Your Name)’s power to not start crying aloud along with Paul. He felt tears roll down his cheeks. He sniffled softly, moving a hand into Paul's hair, carding his fingers through the curls, trying to soothe him. He moved Paul's head away from his chest and pressed their foreheads together. “I know… I'm sorry. I'm so sorry,” He choked out before sniffling, “But I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. I'll stay with you, no matter what. I'll protect you from anything. Your fears, your visions…..” He paused before continuing in a whisper, “Even your darkest nightmares.”
When he said that last part, he felt the branding pain in his back again. He pressed his lips together to muffle any pained noises that might come out of his mouth; ignoring the pain.
Paul looked at (Your Name) through his eyelashes, tears still running down his face. The closeness he felt to him brought more comfort than anyone he could imagine could.
The male's hands traveled up (Your Name)’s back, his fingertips caressing it gently, making the boy shiver. His left hand stayed on his back while his right moved to the back of his neck to keep him in place. He felt his soft gasp of breath against his lips, making them quiver.
Pressing their foreheads together, they breathed shakily as their eyelashes brushed against each other's, taking in their presence as they held each other, not wanting to let go. The only person who was keeping him together was (Your Name) and Paul was the only one keeping (Your Name) strong.
The childhood best friends stayed like this for as long as they wanted.
〰️
After a while, (Your Name) and Paul separated, but the male kept his friend close, not wanting to let him go.
Paul placed his father's ring on his left index finger, looking grim as he did so.
(Your Name) took his hand in both of his. His thumbs caressed the ring, tracing the shape of the family crest on it. He sniffled and sighed softly, trying to control his shaky breath. He was still upset over losing his father figure.
Paul leaned his head over and pressed a kiss against the crown of his head. The boy looked up in response, feeling a blush bloom onto his cheeks. Paul chuckled faintly at his reaction.
A beeping sound coming from a machine in the center of the tent interrupted the moment, “Someone is near.” (Your Name) whispered.
Jessica, who had fallen asleep, slowly woke up to the sound of the beeping and (Your Name)’s voice. Paul saw her wake up.
“You need to drink. It's recycled water from the tent.” He softly told his mother, voice hoarse as he handed her the bottle.
Jessica drank from it, making a face when she tasted it.
“Sweat and tears.” The two best friends said in sync, giving the older woman slight smiles.
“All right, let's get out of here.” Paul helped (Your Name) up and then his mother.
Paul turned on the small light before grabbing the sand compactor and activated it while holding the small light. It started to move the sand. With the small test completed, Paul moved to the entrance of the tent. With (Your Name)’s help with him holding the light against the tent, Paul managed to crawl out of the sand dune. As he did, he saw the small mouse creature that he learned from his recording on Arrakis. It scampered away with a soft squeak.
“(Your Name) won't be happy about that.” He joked to himself, remembering when he asked if he could have one.
Paul got out and helped (Your Name) out before the two of them helped Jessica out.
Once they were all out, an ornithopter flew over them, landing on the desert sand.
(Your Name) immediately recognized who was the one piloting it. “It's Duncan.”
The three ran towards the Ornithopter as Duncan got out. Duncan came sprinting out to them, knocking the three back with a hug.
“My Lady. (Your Name). Paul..” He looked between the three, landing on Paul last, “I'm so sorry. Your father…”
“We know.” Paul whispered sadly, looking down as the wind blew his curly hair around.
Duncan got on one knee, bowing and grabbing Paul's left hand to place it against his forehead, "My lord Duke.”
(Your Name), and Jessica looked to Paul to see his reaction. He was blank faced, showing no emotion, but he did place his free hand on Duncan's shoulder.
Paul Atreides was a scared little boy no more. He was now a Duke, replacing his father, and must follow in his footsteps.

Duncan got on one knee, bowing and grabbing Paul's left hand to place it against his forehead, “ My lord Duke.”
