Hi everyone, we've moved Mais & Maryam's family of 8 in Gaza's emergency lifeline fundraiser to Chuffed as a preventive measure especially with how GFM froze funds during the holiday season as well as seeing so many Gazan fundraisers get shut down unjustly by them. We will leave the old fundraiser up until all funds raised are transferred.

Currently the commission fees for receiving cash and using funds through their banking app reduces funds by half so please contribute generously and share their new link.

🌹On offer for donations of at least $75 is a 12"x12" letterpress print of the opening lines to Palestinian poet and martyred mujahid, Abdelrahim Mahmoud's poem 'The Martyr.'

Both calligraphy and translation work are by Marwa Aldous, Fadwa's sister.

"For the fundraiser that I organize (for my friend's family in northern Gaza), I have had 100 of these letterpressed prints made (textweight paper, 12" x 12"), which I am offering to those that make at least a $75 USD contribution.

This very stark and beautiful calligraphy is the work of Marwa Aldous (whose sister's family is the beneficiary of the fund), it is the opening lines to Palestinian poet and martyred mujahid Abdelrahim Mahmouď's poem 'The Martyr, the English translation of which is also rendered by the artist of the print.

We ask that it be understood that this is simply our way of sharing our love for literature and specifically the rich Palestinian heritage of revolutionary literature (of which The Martyr is a salient example), a heritage that Marwa embodies as a Palestinian with roots in Gaza."

I’m sharing a campaign managed by an ally for the sake of his dear friend, Marwa’s sister’s family displaced in North Gaza. Fadwa, Hosam & their 4 children had their dreams obliterated when their new home which they worked for many years to afford was bombed and destroyed by the occupation in October. Since then they have been displaced 11 times in the North which has the least resources for daily survival.

This fund is their lifeline especially as costs are astronomic for barebones ingredients and necessities. They held out until late June to start their fund and it desperately needs traction. I'd be so grateful if any one could contribute what they can to help them.

Marwa and my ally who is running the fundraiser is choosing not to share photos of the family for the sake of their privacy, security and dignity in not re-traumatizing and exposing their pain to us.
