CHAPTER TWO

MASTERLIST
CHAPTER ONE / CHAPTER THREE
°
“There are far too many silent sufferers. Not because they don't yearn to reach out, but because they've tried and found no one who cares.”
°
I’ve regretted a lot of life decisions, but going to bed at three o’clock on a Monday morning is in my top five worst ideas ever. I could barely keep my eyes open for my first two classes, I was just lucky it was now lunch time I could catch some sort of sleep, even daydreaming will do right now.
Just as I thought I could get four seconds, Midtown High’s News programme that was run by students started playing on the TV, extremely loudly.
“What could be better than one friendly superhero? Two!” She began, and I lifted my head up from my back that I was going to use as a pillow. I folded my arms onto and rested my chin on my arms, “Spider-Man and recent hero Steorra were photographed together last night! Could this be a legendary team up or something more?” She spoke, alluding to a relationship. A photo of Spider-Man and I sitting on the ledge of a building come up onto the screen with an obnoxious red heart around us. I simply let out an unamused scoffs and closed my eyebrows for a moment, trying to drown out the noise.
How could there be a “relationship” when we couldn’t even see each other’s faces? Besides, I’m not so sure Stickers would like me behind the mask.
“Hey Margot,” Flash called out, putting emphasis on the ‘t’ when it was meant to be silent. I opened my eyes and saw half the cafeteria looking between Flash and I. He gave me a cocky as hell grin, “What's the matter? Stay up all night watching cartoons again?” He asks, most the people in the cafeteria letting out chuckles. I just ignored him, rolling my eyes at his antics and sat up, pulling out my chem books and laptop.
Last year during physics, I opened my laptop in the middle of class to take notes, but I forgot I was binge watching the Fairly Oddparents. The moment my computer turned on, the theme song started echoing in the classroom. I was teased from then on, never living it down. But it’s not like I was ashamed, I freaking love the Fairly Oddparents.
I started going over the chapter that Mr Cobbwell wanted us to look over. Halfway through the page, I quickly tied my hair back into a low bun, baby hairs falling to the side of my face.
Someone then suddenly sits down in front of me, startling at how fast she sat down. I look up with wide eyes and found Michelle Jones giving me a closed-lipped smile, “Sup Margot?” She asks, making me frown a little. She said my name right, but I was still a little suspicious.
“Hi,” I spoke quietly, and she folded her arms on the table.
“Are you okay? You’re a lot more tired than usual, and I’m guessing Flash’s comment wouldn’t have helped,” She says without stutter. She acted as if we were best friends, and I didn’t mind, it was just weird to me.
“I guess, but how do you know I’m more tired than usual?” I asked her curiously and she smirks.
“I’m observant not a stalker,” She states firmly, “And you’re usually a lot more brighter, and you never wear leggings, and you don’t wear makeup, and–,”
“Okay, okay,” I interrupted, giving her a small side smile, shaking my head at her boldness in amusement, “I get it, and I’m fine. Thanks for asking Michelle,” I told her, and this time she gave a caring smile and a nod.
“Cool, high five,” She says, sticking her hand up.
Now. I said I was tired. I wasn’t lying. Because you know what I do? I fistbump her hand. I FISTBUMP her HIGH FIVE. ThAt’S nOt oKAy.
“Oh my god,” I groaned in embarrassment, hiding my face with my hands as she laughs. I peeked through my fingers as she kept laughing, and I let my hands slide back into my lap, a smile plastered on my lips. It was funny, I’ll admit, but I still hate myself.
“You know what, that’ll be our thing,” She chuckles, waving her hand as if it was nothing, but it DeFiniTeLY wAsN'T. She gave me another smile, “And call me MJ,” She adds, and I nodded as she got up from the seat in front of me and headed back to her table that had two others.
I wasn’t familiar with many Midtown students, being a loner had its downsides, but I knew who Ned and Peter were, but only because when Flash isn’t picking on me, he’s picking on Peter. I look away from them and back at my books, a smile temporarily on my lips.
“You look like an idiot smiling at nothing,” Violet suddenly spoke up, making me jump at the sudden sound of her voice. I turned my head and looked up at the black-haired blue-eyed beauty, and she sat down beside me, grimacing at my textbooks, “I don’t know how you can do this stuff,” She says, making me roll my eyes.
“It’s called paying attention, you should try it sometime,” I sassed, although keeping a straight face. She then proceeded to flicked my ear.
Violet was the oldest of the girls that Lucy had adopted, she was nineteen, however she never graduated high school so Lucy chucked her back in with hope. Violet, although absolutely stunning, wasn’t popular like you’d first think. In fact, she fit into more of the “don’t go near me or I’ll cut you” clique. She barely went to her classes and always got caught smoking on school grounds. The only reason why she hasn’t been kicked out is because she’s insanely intelligent. She gets straight A’s for all her subjects including her tests, pop quizzes, and assignments, but her behaviour is on the other end of the spectrum with a big fat F every time.
“Why would I need to pay attention to the things I already know?” She asks in confusion, making me scoff. I glanced up and noticed people staring at the two of us, and I quickly glanced a my computer.
I never wanted her to find out, I didn’t want her to even suspect it, but Vi was one of the reasons I didn’t have friends. They were scared to be near me because Violets’ always close behind. No one at school knows that we live together in the same building within the same family, because Violet doesn’t want anyone to know, which I can understand. But no one knows this so they’re always confused as to how we know each other, and why we wouldn’t be clashing.
“Are you gonna tell me why you’re here, or nah? Because I’m busy,” I told her, and she grimaces again at the sight of homework near her.
“Yeah, okay, so in other words your not busy, cool. So,” She began, and I gave up, turning so I was completely facing her. I wasn’t gonna win this fight, so I decided to roll with it, “I’m going out with Levi tonight so I need you to do your thing,” She says, making my eyes widen.
“Violet no! I can’t,” I told her, not wanting to raise my voice and draw attention, “And I thought Levi was in custody or whatever for stealing,” I asked, and she shrugs.
“His mom bailed him out, but come on Argonaut,” She pleads, pouring her bottom lip out, “Just one more time? I promise I won’t ask again,” She says, putting a hand over her heart.
I groaned in annoyance and leaned my head back, “Fine,” I spoke, looking back at her, “But I can’t promise it will work this time–and I can’t keep abusing my power for you,” I said sternly, making her scoff.
“Oh please, you do it all the time,” She chuckles stood back up. She put her hand on my head and violently ruffled my hair out of place, making me glare at her, “Thanks Argonaut,” She says and walks away. I rolled my eyes as I ran my fingers through my hair to untangle the strands. I looked down at my homework.
Homework… Maybe Vi does have a point.
*
The next class I had was chemistry, which MJ was also in. Surprisingly, as I sat down in my usual seat in the back of the classroom, she sat beside me. Her friends, Peter and Ned, followed her and sat in front, making my cheeks turn a blossoming red at the sudden attention.
“Margot, this is Ned and Peter, and we’re here to make sure you don’t fall into a pit of despair,” MJ says casually, making me frown, but still chuckle at what she said.
I looked over at Ned and Peter, and the Filipino gave me a smile, “We've been called into action, we are now known as the Cheer-Up Squad,” He explains, and I turned to Peter to see what he had to say, and he shrugs.
“It was MJs idea, we’re sort tied to an invisible contract that says we have to follow her, or something,” He explains and MJ turned her head, squinting at Peter.
“Support, not lead, very different situations Parker,” She says, and I laughed as Peter put his hands in the air in defence.
“It’s…” I began, trying to find a word, “It’s thoughtful, thank you, but I’m fine–,”
“Ah, silence!” MJ interrupts, “I will find satisfaction when you say you are no less than fantastic, understood?” She asks, pointing her yellow pencil at me as if it were a weapon. My eyes widened at the seriousness in her voice, and I nodded.
“Okay, if it makes you happy, then okay,” I spoke, and she gave a nod of contentment. I looked at Ned and Peter and saw Ned trying to hold back a laugh, and Peter just shaking his head. He then turned to me and gave an amused yet apologetic smile.

CHAPTER ONE
Summary: Steorra and Spider-Man meet for the first time.
Warnings: just friendly vibes :)
Cover + Blurb/Info
The Cast!
MASTERLIST
°
“You may be the only person left who believes in you, but it's enough. It takes just one star to pierce a universe of darkness. Never give up.”
°
That was something I once read in a book of quotes written by a lady called Richelle E. Goodrich. I was given the book by my grandfather when I was just a little four year old girl, but then he soon past away due to Leukemia. I then became the last of my family left. I was alone as I grew up trying to understand the powers I had.
I was a mutant to say the least. My powers became evident during a ballet exam when I was twelve. The step-parents I had at the time quickly became terrified of me, scared I would hurt one of them one day, so they placed me back into the hands of the orphanage, not even bothering to inform the ladies that I was a mutant. I was then adopted again by another lady who had already taken in half a dozen children.
It wasn’t as bad as I first believed. I was the middle child between the seven of us, three being older and three being younger. I expected the house to be cramped and full of random objects, but it was quite the opposite. The house used to be an old apartment building, but Lucinda Blake had turned it into a home with four stories and ten rooms, and meaning I didn’t have to share with one of the other girls. She paid the bills and food with her will money since she was also the last of her own family name, and with donations through an online charity service.
I was meant to be doing physics homework that's due tomorrow morning, but it wasn’t as important as what I was doing now: kicking ass.
“Ow, you bitch!” A bad guy dressed in all dark blue, not black, but blue. He charged at me while I charged up a ball of energy, a bright white light forming in the palm of my hands. I flicked one hand at the guys face, breaking his nose and making him blind for a moment, then jumped a few metres over his head and back behind him. I threw the second ball of light at him, making him fall face first onto the road.
I winced for the guy, knowing it would have hurt, then looked back at the convenience store, noticing this guys partners were still trying to rob the place. I rolled my glowing golden eyes and walked towards the store. As one of the two men spotted me, I placed a hand on the light switch, absorbing the electricity in the building. My skin began to glow, electric currents moving throughout my veins. I was the only source of light in the store.
They raised their guns at me ready to fire, but I raised my own, a blast of electricity shooting from my raised forearms, knocking them back against the tiled wall. I placed my hand back over the light switch and transferred the rest of the electricity back into the shop.
“You’d think bad guys would know better then to steal after seeing superheroes kick an overgrown talking prunes ass,” I told the cashier, who simply had his jaw dropped and eyes wide at me. I gave a small giggle at the shell shocked man and walked towards the two unconscious bad guys in blue, “Let’s get you two back to your buddy,” I mumbled, grabbed their collars and dragging them out of the store, “Have a nice night!” I called out, and the man nodded silently.
I stacked the three men on top of each other, and just as I go to pull my phone out, a flash of red and blue zoomed past me. Some sort of string began wrapping around me like rope, making me yell in shock, “What in the hell?” I asked.
“Technically I should be asking you that,” A guys voice spoke. I look up at the roof of the store and spotted Spider-Man perched on the ledge, “Who are you, and why are you stealing my job?” He demands.
I let out a huff and opened my palm, spec-sized balls of light flew around me like fireflies and cut away at the web. It fell at my feet and Spider-Man quickly jumped down from the roof in confusion, hands raised in warning.
“How did you do that?” He demands another answer.
I raised an eyebrow at him, folding my arms loosely as the specs of light absorbed back into my skin, “You’re the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Boy, shouldn’t you know who I am?” I asked him with amusement.
“Spider-Man, and it’s Steorra, right? Like from Octopath Traveller?” He asks, making me chuckle.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I told him sarcastically and then pulled out of my phone, dialling 911. Spidey kept his eye on me as I informed the police, then as I hung up, I looked back down at the bad guys, “You ever seen these guys before?” I ask him, and he walks forwards, standing beside me as he looks at them.
“No, but I’ve taken out a few guys dressed like this before,” He says. He then crouched down, grabbing the left wrist of the top guy and pulled his sleeve down, revealing a tattooed symbol, “And they’ve all had this stupid symbol,” He says, obviously annoyed and frustrated. I took a closer look, and frowned at it.
“That’s…” I began and stopped, trying to remember the name of the symbol.
“That’s what? You know what this is?” He quickly spoke, standing back up and stepping very close to me. I put a hand on his chest and pushed him back a little.
“Give a girl some thinking space, Spider-Boy,” I told him with a small chuckle.
“Sorry, it’s–I’ve been trying to follow these guys for weeks,” He began, “And if you know something that might help then I need to know,” He says, and then sirens began blaring in the background, making me turn back to listen how far they were. There wouldn’t be enough time for me try and remember, so I looked back at him.
“Follow me,” I told him and spun my heel. I took a few steps towards the convenience store and jumped, landing on the roof of the shop. I looked back and watched him web his way up within seconds, “You think you can keep up?” I asked him with a smirk.
“Is that a challenge?” He asks, his left eye widened as if to raise an eyebrow. I shrugged, then I quickly ran towards the edge of the roof and jumped again, this time going higher, gliding for a moment before landing on top of taller building. I kept leaping from roof to roof while Spider-Man swung in between the buildings, keeping up with me.
I wasn’t stupid, I knew he was quite fast, I just wanted to show him that I was equally just. I had to show him that I was an equal hero.
I came to a halt on top of one of the tallest apartment buildings in Queens, doing a quick forward roll so I wouldn’t trip over my own feet. I headed to the edge of the building and sat on the ledge, letting my legs dangle as I waited for Spidey to join me, and he did.
He crawled up the wall from below instead of using his web, jumping up and sitting beside me, looking out onto Queens, “You weren’t flying, right?” He asks confused.
“No,” I chuckled, “But I probably could if I practiced. It’s more like leaping, gliding then falling,” I told him, and tried to think about the symbol.
“Why don’t you practice? You’ve got the whole city,” He says, gesturing out to New York and the surrounding boroughs.
“I don’t really have much spare time between homework and doing your job for you,” I smirked, looking at him and his eyes squinted at me.
“Alright Sparky, calm down,” He scoffs, and I raised my eyebrows. I had used my electrokinesis before he approached me, which meant he must have been watching me.
“Sparky? Oh, so you were watching me like a perverted, hm?” I asked, making the white eyes on his suit quickly widen in embarrassment and shock.
“W-What? No–No definitely not… I wouldn’t,” He stutters like crazy, and I simply chuckled at his behaviour opening my palm in front of me.
“Don’t worry about it Stickers,” I smirked, creating a nickname for him, “I know I’m pretty cute,” I added on, a slight mix of sarcasm in my words, a side of my non-hero life shining through. I cleared my throat and confused up tiny specks of light in my palm, then watched as they turned into the symbol found on those men’s wrists.
“I know this,” I mumbled to myself, “Come on,” I added.
“There’s a lot of these guys with this tattoo,” Stickers began, “Could it be something to do with a group? Maybe a cult?” He asks, throwing out ideas, and thankfully his ideas were smart.
“A cult,” I repeated quietly, and my eyes snapped wide open, “Sulfur. That’s how I knew it!” I spoke quickly, making Stickers’ eyes squint confused.
“Sulfur? I don’t get it,” He spoke.
“This symbol is for the alchemical element Sulfur, it’s–it's also called the Leviathan Cross,” I told him, “It has ties with satanic rituals and–,”
“Cults,” Stickers finished, “We’re dealing with a cult,” He mumbles, running a hand smoothly over his head.
“I think you should tell your Avenger friends about this,” I told him, “I don’t have a good feeling about these Leviathan guys,” I said nervously, letting the symbol turn to falling particles of light, slowly dying out within seconds.
“I agree with you, and hey! You should come with me,” He says happily, “Maybe Mr Stark could design you a better suit,” He says, and I looked down at my own suit.
My suit consisted of a pair of high-waisted black sports leggings that were cropped below the knees, a self-cropped black and grey baseball t-shirt that had the hood of a black hoodie sewn to the neckline. I still had a mask covering the top half of my face which gets tied up at the back. Hell, the o my thing cool about my outfit was the fact that I kept my eyes glowing a golden yellow all the time. I also had on a pair of steel capped combat boots, but I took off the bottom of the shoe and replaced it with the bottom of a trainer for more flexibility when I ran.
Speaking of which, my shoes were starting to break, “As much as I would hope he’d actually do that,” I began, lifting up a leg to inspect the shoe. I huffed at the loose grip, “I’m pretty he won’t, considering the more important things to look out for like like ten feet tall prunes, sociopathic evil robots, and Captain America’s fists, so,” I trailed off, and he laughs at the last comment.
“If he can make me a suit, he’ll make you a suit, I promise,” He says patting my back. I sent a wave of electricity through my body, shocking him before he took his hand back, “Ouch!”
“Don’t touch me Stickers, unless you want me to fry your ass like a Krabby Patty,” I told him, swinging my legs back and standing up. He lets out another laugh and stands up as well.
“You’re funny,” He states, making me smirk as a comeback was brewing in my mind. He points at me accusingly within a second, “Don’t. Don’t you–Sparks don’t–,”
“Guess that makes you the funny looking one,” I laughed making him lean back, groaning in annoyance. I rolled my eyes and then looked in the direction of my home, “Well, it was nice to finally meet you, but I’ve got physics homework to finish off, so, see ya later Spider-Man,” I told him, and his eyes widened, pointing at me again.
“You called me Spider-Man!” He says happily, making me laugh.
“Don’t forget about the Leviathans,” I called out smiling, stepping on the ledge, “Bye Stickers!” I called out once more and then leaped into the sky, falling towards buildings, leaping to each rooftop one by one.
