Finally sharing this! I'd been waiting until I had the next chapter ready but I just couldn't wait anymore. Thanks to the amazing @sinsydia for bringing this moment from Chapter 8 to life 😍 I loved every step of the process and even MORE IN LOVE with the result. They're not together here yet, they still have things to sort through, but the emotions are there and drunk Seb + emotions isn't a good combination (or is it?😈)

the more I write this fanfic the more I realize it's Sebastian's story rather than Poppy's (my oc). I unintentionally made him the main character, where he starts healing the ugly feelings he felt towards himself, his family, the town, and realize he can find happiness anywhere he chooses because it's not tied to a place.

that it's embarrassing and uncomfortable when you realize you're part of the problem too, but the people who love you will appreciate you realizing that.

It's just such a compelling journey he has that kinda flies under the radar in the game. And I didn't like like it was 100% tied to his relationship with farmer. It's probably not, but it *seems* that way because it's a game so understandable! I love them together but I'm trying to give him some space to work things out with his own relationships. Enough to give me peace that he'll be okay. That he brings a lot to the table on his own, and they're a power couple because they're both amazing on their own. as opposed to other chapters where the story demanded both their povs, this chapter is almost entirely sebastian and at first I was trying to fix that, but I'm realizing it doesn't need to be fixed. Maybe he does need this space. And this might be a way too deep for a pixel character, but he deserves it hahah

Sebastian x Farmer headcanon

He calls her 'sunshine' to get on her nerves about how she's aaaalways willing to help and always checking to see if someone needs something she can forage or something from the mines, and how much of a goody two shoes she is. but secretely it actually makes sense for him since she brings a little light to his day when she drops by.

Sebastian x Farmer headcanons (oh oh, i'm falling in love) ♥️

The farmer keeps trying to teach him about farm life and he indulges them because sometimes that's the only thing he can think of to start a conversation (every time he attempts small talk he feels like an idiot. Farming is safe, they like farming and he doesn't mind listening). He sometimes pretends to be completely clueless about stuff he already knows.

They start co-parenting a frog (it lives with farmer since they've got more space for a terrarium), so he visits often to check on 'their son'. He brings his laptop, settles in the dining room and makes a work day out of it. It's got the perfect view of field outside, with the farmer working on the crops. He KNOWS checking on their frog is just an excuse, but won't bring himself to admit it. He doesn't get a lot of work done

Sebastian's obsessed with how the farmer prepares sashimi but they won't let him help. He's fine with that bc he's pretty hopeless at cooking. HOWEVER, he's not so bad with desserts, so he starts 'sneakily' collecting dessert recipes from neighbors to make for the farmer when he stays for dinner

He's always on farmer's case about working too much. And still they fret over sucking at this farm life thing. Sebastian's intrusive thoughts scream for him to give them a hug and tell them they're doing amazing. He can only muster a 'the farm looks good'

If they're walking through town and the farmer reaches for his hand to pull him along, Seb glances covertly and their joined hands, his ears turn red, but he plays it cool (NO WAY HE'S LETTING GO THO)

Since he was pretty mean with farmer when they first arrived in town, even turned them down at the spring dance, he apologizes to them by pulling them into an impromptu dance in the farmhouse kitchen. It's awkward, and he's not even used to holding people close, but the farmer looks so happy, he smiles, they smile, and he knows it'll be okay.

He loves it when in a room full of people, the farmer gravitates towards him, even if it's just to tease him. He pretends to be annoyed but it doesn't always work and the farmer sees right through him. When that happens he just gets teased more. WIN WIN

writing this fic has been so therapeutic! I've actually been working on an original fantasy novel for a while, but taking a break to write some sdv fic has been the most fun I've had in a while
