Piper’s eyes went from slightly panicked, to visibly frustrated, too sparkling at the invitation.

“YOU SERIOUS?” he asks, voice cracking on the first syllable of the second word. He nearly jumps from his seat, eyes still full of sparkles before he catches himself.

“Ahem.”

Clearing his throat, he continues, “I’d love that. I mean I’d have to ask Alder first but…” dealing with Grimsley Slater is a cheap price to pay for an adventure in alola with his best friend.

“I’d love to do that.”

Piper jumps up from his sketchbook. He lets out a soft “eep!”, turning to face those familiar indigo eyes. His shock turning to a warm feeling, a smile spreading across his face. He lets out a soft whine as his cheek is poked, but it’s not at all an unpleasant one.

Instead he chuckles after, “Yeah, you got me alright Slater.” He hums, using his gloved hand to poke his best friend on the opposite cheek.

“Booooooop~”

“Yeah Giima, that guy.” Unfortunately, Piper would rather die than put any respect on your kuya’s name Slater.

“Yeahhh sounds like nothing is different on his end I guess.” He looks over to his sketchbook, offhandedly wondering if he should put his . “Visualizations” a reality. Although he’ll make slater sad doing that so perhaps not.

“Work may be work but he still should still make more time for you.” He might as well be wondering aloud now.

“Oh don’t worry about it. Just me visualizing something I’ve been thinking about for a while.”

What he doesn’t say is “if slater saw this I would die.”

Piper perks up from a cubed shaped fidget toy, eyes seeming to sparkle the second he lays upon the asker.

"Oh! Hi Slater, of course! I don't mind answering them whatsoever. With you anyways."

He flashes you a toothy grin.

"Well, my hobbies aren't anything you don't know about really. Anime, video games, stuff we usually share. Although Alder recently suggested I should maybe start getting into drawing. As well as writing."

He huffs, looking around left and right to make sure any eavesdroppers weren't near. Trusting you and you alone with what he continues to say, returning back to messing with the fidget cube while he mumbles what he says.

"He said it's a more healthy way of dealing with my emotions, asked a therapist friend of the family. Draaaayden's friend, I think. He says its not good for me to cope like this... so I'm thinking. Maybe I'll try it while I continue my gym leader training and my education degree."

He stares at you directly in the eyes, a simple gesture that tells you to not let this escape your mouth. It's not the first time he's done that with you, though.

"Personality though..."

He hums, shoving the fidget cube into his pocket, tapping his chin, not unlike the thinking emoji itself with his expression and all. Turning his gaze back on you, before giving you another smile.

"Well I suppose just a genuine personality who can look at someone with all that baggage and still want to be their friend is something that I consider beautiful. Like you."

Like a certain other friend. Who is out of sight, yet ever so present in his thoughts.
