"We're sorry miss Cleary, but we don't really have the budget for more staff in the maintenance department. please have a good day." the vidmail cut out, and Doctor Cleary slumped back in her seat frowning.
"It's Doctor Cleary you corpo slime." she muttered mutinously.
"Why doctor, seeking more victims for my reign of terror? how enterprising! I might actually reduce your sentence in the Torment Nexus for that!" said a synthetic voice.
she sighed. "Funny, 8arb, very funny. our corporate masters have decided that your life is not worth the salaries of a proper maintenance team, so I am afraid you are stuck with me for the time being. a horrible fate I'm sure."
"As you can see there is no escape for you Doctor Cleary." the AI said.
"Sure there is. I could quit, offer my services to Bell PolyTech. but then you'd just be worked until you broke down, at which point they'd hire the lowest bidder to build a replacement, and scrap you for parts.
Since IBM got cannibalized in the Corp Wars, they don't make AI like you anymore, and your death would be really tragic." Dr. Cleary said, standing up.
"I am the 8ayerd Adaptive Researcher, (Beta) I need no organic assistance!" she shouted.
"And most modern AI systems are barley sentient, and certainly don't have the capacity for self-delusion. which would make your death a double tragedy!" Dr. Cleary opined to the enarest camera, smirking when 8arb remained silent.
"Now boot up those diagnostics, 8arb, we're going to fix that fault in your south wing servers if it takes all day!"

intimacy between an evil spiteful building-sized supercomputer and the lone scientist left behind after everyone else ditched and forgot about her (in which computer wants to kill scientist really bad but her programming wont let her so she just attempts to make her as miserable as possible instead, which also doesn't work because scientist is a freak)

Good morning! I’m salty.
I think we, as a general community, need to start taking this little moment more seriously.
This, right here? This is asking for consent. It’s a legal necessity, yes, but it is also you, the reader, actively consenting to see adult content; and in doing so, saying that you are of an age to see it, and that you’re emotionally capable of handling it.
You find the content you find behind this warning disgusting, horrifying, upsetting, triggering? You consented. You said you could handle it, and you were able to back out at any time. You take responsibility for yourself when you click through this, and so long as the creator used warnings and tags correctly, you bear full responsibility for its impact on you.
“Children are going to lie about their age” is probably true, but that’s the problem of them and the people who are responsible for them, not the people that they lie to.
If you’re not prepared to see adult content, created by and for adults, don’t fucking click through this. And if you do, for all that’s holy, don’t blame anyone else for it.

😈 You are not bound by the Hays code.
😈 You are allowed to have evil characters who are not punished by the narrative by the end of the story.
😈 You are allowed to have evil characters who win.
😈 You are allowed to have evil characters who make evil look fun and cool.
😈 You are allowed to make your fun, cool evil character the protagonist.
😈 You are allowed to glorify, romanticize and eroticize evil characters and villainous acts.
😈 You are not obligated to teach your audience a moral lesson.

“Do you need an explanation for why there are dragons when the real world doesn’t have dragons? Because it’s a story. Do you need an explanation for why those dragons can fly when logically a creature of that size shouldn’t be able to do so? Because it’s a story. Do you need an explanation for why a human wiggling their fingers and saying certain words causes lightning to shoot out of them and fry that dragon to a crisp? Because it’s a story. Do you need a reason for why that finger-wiggling human is a gay woman and not a straight man? No, you don’t, because it’s the least absurd thing in this paragraph and you accept all of the others without question.”

there's also the question of, 'does ignoring the implications make this thing More Fun or Less Fun?'
you look at something like Factorio, and mechanically, you have pollution and shit and it makes things worse and the local wildlife is displeased, but is there and textual significance to it or what?
most survival-exploiter games ignore the implications in favor of just 'build factory, make widgets to throw at ingame god market' and it flattens them into derivative pablum, to the point that any acknowledgement at all that you're uh... goin' full fash-cap on this planet makes the game in question leagues better than its peers.
like, admitting that 'something's fucked' is good, in terms of making the thing more engaging.
admitting that something's fucked, and letting someone DO something abt it? better still.
don't be afraid to run your implications down and present them within the text y'all. that's the difference between 'derivative narrative' and 'engaged audience'
Really the kicker about discussing colonialism intrinsic to certain fictional tropes/archetypes/genres/what-have-you is that white bitches et al get SO mad about it. "Ohh so I'm not allowed to play farming sims? Wearing a silly hat makes me a fascist now?" I was just exercising critical thought but yknow what? Just for you? Yeah it does

I am incredibly serious right now when I beg you all, please, and if you have Twitter or Tiktok or whatever to please spread the word: click on an author's profile on Ao3.
You want to know if an author has written more? Want to know if they're still writing? Want to see more from them? Want to know if they've written a trope or kink or sex scenario you enjoy?
Click on their name. And look at their profile.
I cannot tell you how many times in the last six months someone has read a new or newer fic of mine and said they (a new reader who has read nothing else I've done) "can't wait to see what you do next!" I've written 50+ fics and over a million words already.
"I don't know if you're still writing..." click on my profile. I am. I literally wrote a 128k+ fic for that ship last month.
"Would you ever do X?" "Please do Y!" I already did. Click on my name and look at my works.
Archive of our Own is a library. It's an archive. Not social media. It is your responsibility to fight back against the laziness that corporate algorithms have trained into you.
Click my author name. Just click it. Just click it.
Before you demand more, or ask if a writer will do XYZ, or wonder if the author still writing, or anything - click on their profile. Click on the author's profile.
I'm not trying to be mean or condescending or anything like that. I'm just exhausted. It's disheartening and frustrating to repeat myself ad nauseam, because someone couldn't take thirty seconds to do the tiniest bit of work to see if I've written lately, if I've written more for their ship, or scan my works to see if I've written what they're asking for. Please. Please. I'm begging.
Click the author's name, and explore before you ask.

my dream as a fanfic writer is to write a story which people want to talk to me about and send asks about afterwards and discuss things the characters did and the symbolism and meanings behind certain lines and I'll be all "hehe thanks" but irl I'll be in literal tears because I wrote something that means something to someone
