Let’s talk about shipping in this fandom for a bit.

The most problematic of them all is apparently AtsuKyou. While most people ship it as a cute, puppy love type of a ship, the haters call them paedophiles which is an absolutely disgusting misuse of the term.

Why? Because the said pairing is not paedophilia. Atsushi is only four years older than Kyouka, and she herself isn’t a child- she is a teenager just like he is, which means that since they are both in the same stage of life between childhood and adulthood, there is no reason to assume that type of malice on Atsushi’s part.

Only because you think people’s brains magically mature after turning 18 it doesn’t make it true as some people take more or less time.

Saying people support paedophilia because of a fictional pairing is more than a stretch.

So, just like you wouldn’t say you hate Soukoku shippers because they support abuse (another horribly inaccurate insult) you also shouldn’t say AtsuKyo shippers are paedophiles. Not to mention the fact that all these charachters being shipped around are, well, fictional.

This brings me to another thing. Oc x canon pairings.

Let me tell you, no adult in their right mind, regardless of how many anime teens they like, is going to be attracted to real teenagers. Why? Because anime teenagers are usually given traits suitable for adults, not just in charachter, but looks as well, purposely making them appealing for both adult and teen audiences.

Not to mention that whatever you ship (also write/draw) has noting to do with you approving such behavious. Most of the times people are in for the aesthetic, story or plain curiosity.

Stop using fake morality as an excuse to be shitheads to others.
