Everyone knew that Iwa had a huge hate boner for the Yondaime Hokage— they’d refused to remove his bounty even after he became sitting leader of the world’s largest military, which was little bit of a political faux pas— and that extended to his sole surviving student as well. A self insert into an orphan kid during the second shinobi war. The SI has a laid back attitude and a policy to not care overly much about the events of the story. She is outed as a genius in the first chapter itself and ordered to not hold back anymore. She still retains the laid back attitude though. Slightly OP, but not overly so. There's a Jiraiya POV featuring interactions with the other two Sannin. Features interactions with Kushina, Minato, as well as a Yamanaka classmate who's probably original character.

It's by the same author of Biggering [ASoIaF], but not quite at that level (yet).

Self Insert into Alicent Hightower

This is one of those fics whose title aptly describes its premise and where the story successfully carries through with the promise of its title.

The story is of a self insert into the mind of Alicent Hightower. Except it begins, not at the start of her life or long before the tensions flare up or whatever. Instead here the SI (named "Alice"), is dropped into the mind of Alicent just as Viserys is about to die, and she has to both reconcile her two conflicting worldviews as well as figure out a solution which has the least chance of her family making it out relatively unhurt. And well oh well she does. She politics the hell out of those fuckers.

I did wonder somewhere in between on whether Alicent really needed to be a self insert for this premise to work, and concluded that no, not really. The story could be envisioned as an AU where the same actions could be brought about through alterations to Alicent's character or the events that lead up to the premise. But Alicent becoming a self insert also allows her to speedrun through a lot of the character development needed to get to that point, not accounting for the advantage the huge trump card that is foreknowledge provides her.

This fic only has three chapters of which two have already been posted. Yet I'm waiting for the next (and last) chapter with the same enthusiasm that I await TV shows with. Kinda sad that this will end in just three chapters, but it is good that this way it won't drag on and then maybe get discontinued. But fingers crossed and hoping that the author writes extra chapters later.
