This project is taking me FOREVER, but I’m making good progress. I’m on Kill all your friends (which I LOVE) and already have theories for the other B-sides. ALSO. I just listened to the foundations of decay for the first time (yes, sue me. I know it’s been out for three years but like NEW MUSIC IS SCARY OK) and like. It’s amazing. I have found a new obsession
And thus, we move onto The sharpest lives (i cannot wait for kill all your friends)

Some silly little bilingual things-
(This post will probably resurface a few times, as I realise more and more things i do)
For context-
My mum has only ever spoken english to me and my sibling. My dad has only ever spoken (an Argentinian variety of) Spanish to us. No, he’s not Hispanic.
Anyways
I will sometimes say English words with a vaguely Spanish pronunciation, then pause for a second and realise ‘huh. That’s not right’ Alternatively, I’ll think of a Spanish word, and say it with English pronunciation because I can’t for the life of me remember the English word, and maybe, just maybe it’ll make sense to the people around me
I’ll think of a really good joke to make, and then realise- oh, for fucks sake, the pun won’t work in English!! Or vice-versa
This one might be the autism, but I’ll sometimes just stand there because laguage.exe has not loaded right today
I really struggle to explain how words work in my brain. Essentially, everything (as long as it’s in a language i understand) goes into my brain and then has to load into concepts that I understand. I don’t translate English to Spanish, or the small bits of French I understand into English or whatever. The words kind of just…exist as they are, and make sense. Brains are weird
I speak English every day of my life, but I rarely speak Spanish. I understand both fluently, but just because of where I live, I don’t need to speak it often. This means that when I do try to speak Spanish, I have a very ‘gringo’ accent, so people think I don’t speak Spanish. I do, I just suck at talking (in both languages lol)!
I make ‘ow’ sounds in Spanish. I hope this makes sense.
I don’t know many English nursery rhymes, but I know a tonne of Spanish ones! (Some of my core memories are of singing that one elephant song with my dad in the school drop off line)
I regularly forget that guests don’t understand my dad (when he’s talking Spanish) and I forget to explain. I realise soon enough, when they look at me weird.
I’ve accidentally developed vocal stims in a Spanish accent… (because i steal them from my father, who often makes the noises while speaking Spanish)
Also, a cool one- If I don’t want others to understand me and my dad, I sometimes switch to Spanish. This has misfired though, when he starts to translate to the others what we’re saying. While I’m shitting on the persons cooking…
I grew up constantly having to explain how to pronounce my deadname, because it was a Spanish name, as was my middle name. Luckily I don’t have that problem anymore
I think that’s all for now!

Another weird thing about recovering from long term mental illness-
I feel like I’ve lost a part of myself. And not in the like ‘oh being depressed was my whole personality’ type thing, but I’ve realised how many of my wants, future aspirations (in those brief times I thought I might get one) and even humour, were fuelled by mental illness.
Don’t get me wrong, I still have incredibly dark humour, and of course I’m still the same person, in practice, but being how I was during some very important times of my life has really…idk, confused me about who I am? I’m not sure. ✨life is strange✨

Meet my altars!
A tour of the magik I keep in my room
Since I am often unable to do big rituals, and the more ‘traditional’ aspects of witchcraft, I like to keep small magiky things in my room, whether that be spell jars, altars or crystals. I’m going to show you them now!
(Mild content warning for mentions of grief, death, and pictures of animal bones and teeth)
First: my altars.
I have two altars, one of which was never actually meant to be one.
I use my altars as a place to store my more withchy items, as a place to charge tools and to honour and remember past times, lost people, spirits and those I’ve personally lost.
Tumblr media
This is my first altar. It initially started as a place to charge crystals and water under the moon, and I would use my windowsill to place offerings. But then it kinda grew, and I just kept adding things, and it became what it is now. It has my book of shadows (or my first one. I soon realised i needed a much less delicate book for that. I now actually use a google doc for that sort of thing, and a mushroom themed notebook to write down my walks in the forest), which I handmade (somehow. Leather is a pain). It also has a selenite slab, which I use to charge crystals. I most often use tiger’s eye, to help with anxiety, but those amethysts have been there for a while.
There is a deer rib, and a spell jar for sleep. The jar, btw, has crushed coffee beans and pine nuts, then pine needles from the same forest I occasionally look for bones in, and a few amethyst and quartz pieces.
Most importantly, there is that random clear piece of plastic. This is a thing related to my pet rabbits, one of whom died, and the other we had to give away. Keeping this last piece kind of helps with the grief, I think. And it feels like I’m honouring them, in some way.
Tumblr media
And this is my second altar! This one was always meant to be an altar, right from the beginning. This one is more dedicated to my vulture culture, and more death related work. The drawers are where I keep my bones, teeth and feathers.
It has a few of my clay sculptures, both of which relate to death (an opossum with its baby, and a ghost). I’ve said before that I like to work intentions into my clay, and both of these were for protection and luck.
I have some potpourri, which I made, and some dried rose tea, along with a scent diffuser. Smells and scents are a big part of my practice, so these are very important! I also love making potpourri, seriously, if you’re looking for witchy activities to do, 10/10 recommend this.
Other than that, there is a little sentimental toy, and some pictures from my childhood (everyone saw ‘aaaaaw’), and a melted candle and match, which were kind of an accident but they look cool so um…yeah.
And finally, behind the ghostie sculpture, I have some tony bottles, filled with small flower petals and crystals.
Plants!
I love plants, and they’re great for magik!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I grow basil and parsely, which are obviously tasty, but also add a little bit of magik to every dish made with them, because of the love and care I put into growing them. And then I have the spider plants, which were a gift a very long time ago, and are impossible to stop. They have taken over my house lol
Materials
I keep most of my materials in the back of my cupboard. They feel safe there, to me. I only really use five things in rituals (spells are often a different matter, because they normally call for different things on each spell): salt, fire, moonwater or snow water, a crystal and some kind of offering. I also, on occasion, use cinammon.
Tumblr media
(I wan’t kidding lol)
Here I have snow water, moonwater, salt and small nuts and seeds that I like to put out for any rogue spirits. I also sometimes offer coloured string, or small pieces of apple/bird safe fruit.
Cleansing!
Once in a blue moon, I like to cleanse my room. It’s nothing grand at all, but I almost always feel better after doing it.
Here’s a little guide on what I do!
You will need-
Salt
Moon water
What I do-
First, I open all the windows, to freshen up the room. I like to leave them open for as long as possible.
Then I sprinkle moon water all around the place, especially focusing on where I sleep, the windows and the door. Then I go in with salt, drawing a border around the entire doorframe, and the same with the windows.
I switch up the crystals that are charging, and then I like to leave my curtains open for the next 24 hours, to fully let the sun and moon do their thing.
I often do this when I’m cleaning out my room, doing a sort out or after changing my bed. (The adhd likes grouped tasks)
Final things
These are the main things I could think of. Other random things I do are just crystals everywhere, bones too, cat whiskers in places I want good fortune to fall on, and naming things! I love to name things, especially if it’s something that might be a big part in my life. I feel that it helps connect me to the object, and makes it more maleable for future use. (My BoS document is called Gregory)
Oh, and I’m sorry if this whole post sounds incredibly robotic. I am NOT good at explaining things.
Anyways i love y’all, thanks for staying to the end! Good luck, happy witching!
