Doing Art Fight this year! A bit of a last minute decision, so my page/characters aren’t all set up yet, but I’m working on it, lol

Prioritizing attacking people I didn’t get to last year, and then going for attacks and revenges. I do have a parasaurolophus-themed mass attack planned….

My monitor makes the colors look off whenever I look at it from any device other than my PC, so I like creating slightly different versions of it to see what works best lol

Also, I followed the ref very loosely so any inaccuracies are entirely on me. I just hated painting the spikes/plates :']

Ok, Mermay is almost over and I've had this WIP sitting on my computer for weeks at this point.... It's a concept and it's not even close to finished but I wanted to get it out before the month is over lol

Hellgrammite mermaid!!! Centaur? What would this be called.... The larval stage of Dobsonfly are aquatic but they aren't called naiads... and have legs... can mermaids be aquatic insects??? Most aquatic insects are just aquatic until their adult stage though..... Could do riffle beetles.... Idk and Imma stop dwelling on it

Wow! This gave me flashbacks to my insect morph and phys course. I had to dissect a hellgrammite in it and draw 6 or so scientific diagrams... That prof was a harsh grader too lol. Lot's of nights spent crying.

Not to mention someone stole my second hellgrammite (which was alive in a tank, btw) and I had to make do with my one >:[

I plan to return to this soon! I like the idea of aquatic insects as mermaids and I think I would like to eventually do a series.

Polio Myelitis Vaccine

From the first rollout of the vaccine in the United States.

This vial carried the first of the Polio vaccines in the city of Tulsa, OK in April 1955 and was administered to my grandmother (aged 9) and another little boy at the time.

While we had long known about my grandmother’s stories of getting the first vaccine and that she had made it into the newspaper at the time, we were surprised today to run across this vial which she was allowed to keep.

I’m one of those people that if I close a WIP tab, I’ll never return to it

Why do you have all these tabs open?

Because if I close them, they’ll be lost to the void, never to see the light of day again

Despite being an entomologist, I have plenty of insects that I “hate”, so-to-speak

Not because they’re scary or ugly or anything

It’s because I’ve worked with them and have had to spend time either identifying them to species / sex or culturing them

That being said, I’ll see you in hell rice weevils and psocids

Pterodaustro, a genus of ctenochasmatid pterosaur, in the evening sun. Took inspiration from Caribbean and Lesser flamingos for colouration :)
