Chandra Shekhar Azad born as on 23 July 1906 in Bhabhra village (town) in the present-day Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh as Chandra Shekhar Tiwari popularly known by his self-taken name Azad ("Free") was an Indian revolutionary. Azad was drawn into the Indian national movement at a young age. When apprehended by the police at age 15 while participating in Mohandas K. Gandhiโ€™s noncooperation movement (1920โ€“22) at Banares (now Varanasi), he gave his name as Azad (Urdu: โ€œFreeโ€ or โ€œLiberatedโ€) and his address as โ€œprison.โ€ Azad was disappointed by Gandhiโ€™s suspension of the noncooperation movement in February 1922, after several policemen had been murdered by a revolutionary mob at Chauri Chaura, He was involved in the Kakori Train Robbery of 1925, the shooting of J. P. Saunders at Lahore in 1928 to avenge the killing of Lala Lajpat Rai, and at last, in the attempt to blow up the Viceroy of India's train in 1929. Azad and Bhagat Singh secretly reorganised the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA) as the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) on 9 September 1928. Determined never to be captured by police, Azad was constantly on the move. On February 27, 1931, Azad arranged to meet a revolutionary at Allahabadโ€™s Alfred Park (now Azad Park). He was betrayed to the police, who surrounded him as soon as he entered the park. After being surrounded by the police and left with no option of escape after the ammunition was finished He shot himself. Also, it is said that he used to keep a bullet to kill himself in the event of being caught by the British. Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa born on 17 February 1836 as Gadadhar Chattopadhyaya in the village of Kamarpukur, in the Hooghly district of West Bengal was an Indian Hindu mystic, saint and religious leader in 19th century Bengal. According to his followers, Sri Ramakrishna's parents experienced supernatural incidents and visions before his birth. In Gaya his father Khudiram had a dream in which Bhagwan Gadadhara (a form of Vishnu) said that he would be born as his son. Chandramani Devi is said to have had a vision of light entering her womb from (Yogider Shiv Mandir) Shiva's temple. Ramakrishna reportedly had experiences of similar nature a few other times in his childhood, while worshipping the Goddess Vishalakshi, and portraying God Shiva in a drama during the Shivaratri festival. Swami Vivekananda became Ramakrishna's most influential follower, popularizing a modern interpretation of Indian traditions which harmonised Tantra, Yoga and Advaita Vedanta. Vivekananda established the Ramakrishna order, which eventually spread its mission posts throughout the world. Several organisations have been established in his name. The Ramakrishna Math and Mission is the main organisation founded by Swami Vivekananda in 1897. Ramakrishna taught that jatra jiv tatra Shiv (wherever there is a living being, there is Shiva). His teaching, "Jive daya noy, Shiv gyane jiv seba" (not kindness to living beings, but serving the living being as Shiva Himself) is considered as the inspiration for the philanthropic work carried out by his chief disciple Vivekananda. he died in the early morning hours of 16 August 1886 at the Cossipore garden house. According to his disciples, this was mahasamadhi. #ramkrishnaparamhansa #saint #bengal #religious #leader #spirituality #ramakrishnamission #ramakrishnamath #birthanniversary https://www.instagram.com/p/CLazLwbgaZ9/?igshid=1k05xzfctxp9o

Dayananda Saraswati born on 12 February 1824 was an Indian philosopher, social leader and founder of the Arya Samaj, a reform movement of the Vedic dharma. Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati was born at Tankara, currently the Morbi district of Gujarat state. Saraswatiโ€™s original name was Mul Shankar and his fatherโ€™s name was Karshanji Lalji Kapadi and his mother name was Amrutbai. The demise of his younger sister and his uncle due to cholera made Saraswati to ponder the meaning of life and death. Though his parents wanted him to tie the knot in his teenage itself, Saraswati revolted and then ran away from home in 1846. On 7 April, 1875 Dayanand Saraswati formed the Arya Samaj at Bombay. It was a Hindu reforms movement, meaning "society of the nobles". The purpose of the Samaj was to move the Hindu religion away from the fictitious beliefs. Saraswati was a renowned scholar of the Vedic knowledge. And hence to revitalise the Vedic knowledge, Swami Dayanand published many religious books that include the Rig-Vedaadi, Bhasyya-Bhoomika, and Sanskar Vidhi. According to certain sources, Saraswati was poisoned on a few occasions; he miraculously survived such heinous attempts, but could not survive the last attempt of assassination. Saraswati died in 1883. #swamidayanandasaraswati #birthanniversary #philosopher #socialleader #aryasamaj #founder #indianculture https://www.instagram.com/p/CLLYWAvAmIg/?igshid=1oyl736t5j19c

Thomas Alva Edison born on February 11, 1847 Ohio, U.S. was a American inventor who singly or jointly, held a world-record 1,093 patents. He developed many devices in fields such as electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording and motion pictures. These inventions, which include the phonograph, the motion picture camera and early versions of the electric light bulb. He established the first industrial research laboratory. Edison was taught reading, writing, and arithmetic by his mother who used to be a school teacher. He attended school for only a few months. However, one biographer described him as a very curious child who learned most things by reading on his own. Edison developed hearing problems at the age of 12. As he got older, Edison believed his hearing loss allowed him to avoid distraction and concentrate more easily on his work. Thomas Edison began his career selling candy, newspapers and vegetables on the trains running from Port Huron to Detroit. He became a telegraph operator after he saved three-year-old Jimmie MacKenzie from being struck by a runaway train. He also studied qualitative analysis and conducted chemical experiments on the train until he left the job. In 1866, at the age of 19, Edison moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where as an employee of Western Union. On December 25, 1871 at the age of 24 Edison married 16-year-old Mary Stilwell (1855โ€“1884), whom he had met two months earlier. she was an employee at one of his shops. They had three children. On February 24, 1886 at the age of 39, Edison married the 20-year-old Mina Miller (1865โ€“1947) in Akron, Ohio. She was the daughter of the inventor Lewis Miller, His first patent was for the electric vote recorder, U.S. Patent 90,646, which was granted on June 1, 1869. Finding little demand for the machine, Edison moved to New York City shortly thereafter. Edison died of complications of diabetes on October 18, 1931 in his home, "Glenmont" in Llewellyn Park in West Orange, New Jersey. Edison's last breath is reportedly contained in a test tube at The Henry Ford museum near Detroit. #thomasalvaedison #american #inventor #bussinessman #legend #thomasedison #experiment https://www.instagram.com/p/CLJG2Cig-H4/?igshid=acwbr3pd795z

Charles John Huffam Dickens born on 7 February 1812 was an English writer and social critic. He created some of the world's best-known fictional characters and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. His works enjoyed unprecedented popularity during his lifetime and, by the 20th century, critics and scholars had recognised him as a literary genius. His novels and short stories are still widely read today. Despite his lack of formal education, he edited a weekly journal for 20 years, wrote 15 novels, five novellas, hundreds of short stories and non-fiction articles, lectured and performed readings extensively, was an indefatigable letter writer, and campaigned vigorously for children's rights, education and other social reforms. Dickens's literary success began with the 1836 serial publication of The Pickwick Papers. Within a few years he had become an international literary celebrity, famous for his humour, satire and keen observation of character and society. His 1843 novella A Christmas Carol remains especially popular and continues to inspire adaptations in every artistic genre. Oliver Twist and Great Expectations are also frequently adapted and, like many of his novels, evoke images of early Victorian London. His 1859 novel A Tale of Two Cities (set in London and Paris) is his best-known work of historical fiction. Between 1868 and 1869, Dickens gave a series of "farewell readings" in England, Scotland and Ireland, beginning on 6 October. He managed, of a contracted 100 readings, to deliver 75 in the provinces, with a further 12 in London. As he pressed on he was affected by giddiness and fits of paralysis. He suffered a stroke on 18 April 1869 in Chester. He collapsed on 22 April 1869, at Preston in Lancashire and, on doctor's advice, the tour was cancelled. On 8 June 1870, Dickens suffered another stroke at his home after a full day's work on Edwin Drood. He never regained consciousness and, the next day, he died at Gads Hill Place. #charlesdickens #birthday #writer #novelist #socialcritic #olivertwist #acristimascarol #philanthropist https://www.instagram.com/p/CK-m4_6gsUR/?igshid=1f510odn4tf66

World Cancer Day is observed on February 4. It is an opportunity to rally the international community to stop the injustice of preventable suffering from cancer. This is a global initiative which brings the world together to combat the cancer epidemic worldwide, urging governments and individuals to take action against the disease, as a whole. The campaigns aim at assuaging the misconceptions, myths surrounding cancer and educate people to identify symptoms, get the right treatment and reduce the number of deaths. Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) that was established in 1993, had created World Cancer Day in 2000. WHO and several other international organizations support UICC in its endeavours to coordinate and spread cancer awareness globally. UICC works throughout the year with the sole objective to save millions of people out there from the bouts of cancer. In its attempt to boost awareness, UICC partners with health and cancer institutions, formulates educational activities, makes public service announcements. In 2017 the theme was โ€˜I can, we canโ€™ which meant that the power to address the cancer burden lies in all. So, it is possible to lessen the cancer risk factors, overcome the challenges of early diagnosis, treatments and palliative care. 2021โ€™s theme is โ€˜I Am and I Willโ€™, harping the potential to be victorious in this battle. #worldcancerday #2021 #uicc #who #health #awareness #theme #iamandiwill https://www.instagram.com/p/CK21K3zA42-/?igshid=3mysidaiddqa
