((Sorry, but I'm going to have to close down this blog for a little while. There's just been such a sudden influx of new information, and I need some time to reorganize things. I won't be removing or retconning any of the answers posted thusfar, but I'll be coming up with a fix sooner or later.))

"Ha ha, I'm kidding. But in all seriousness, the only time I've ever felt real regret was that time I fell from the top of the Sky Spire. Man, that was awful. But that was also the first time I got to see Opal. So, like, that was kind of cool."

<Connie leaves the room for a moment. When she returns, she has a stern expression on her face, though her cheeks are still red.>

"I want to be absolutely clear, that people don't think that friendship is somehow 'below' romance or the other way around. Steven is my really good friend, and we're not some lovey-dovey couple of teens like you might think. N-not that I would m-mind lovey-dovey, or anything..."

"Sooooo.... not ~technically~ a teen... B-but I'm very mature for my age!"

"Uwuhh... Why can't I hold all these dragons??

"Hehe, sorry. I've become really invested in this iOS game, Dragonvale. It's very cute! You get to hatch and raise your own dragons. Although, it's really more like a zoo. I kinda worry about the well being of fictional creatures in a digitized space, because it affects our view of real animals in a genuine space.

"Mnngh, don't tell Pearl I've been worrying about animals again. She'll be all like, 'Ohh, you're growing up to be just like your mother~' and blah blah compassion for all living things blah blah blah. Look, I'm not trying to be like anybody else, I just... really care about animals."

((This isn't really an answer to a question anybody asked, I was just being cute. By the way, Dragonvale is a very real thing, and you can add me as your friend in the Game Center, under the name Connie Quartz! Or, at least, I think that's how it works. Magic stuff I usually understand but technology confuses me.))

Given that Connie isn't white, would Greg (or even Rose for that matter) be non-white as well in this AU?

((Well... to put it simply, yes. Connie Quartz Universe looks a lot more like her father than her mother; or rather, in this AU, Greg Universe looks a lot more like Connie. I guess you could say that'd make him Indian.))

((The reason behind this is primarily because making Connie's father white (or white-passing) would add another facet to Connie's character that would convolute the purpose of this AU. Specifically, as much as I already draw from a bit of personal experiences in building Connie's character, being a mixed-race child born to a white father would be projecting far more than I'm comfortable adding to this character, which also involves a lot of unhealthy traits that I decided, as a writer, would not be good for Connie's story. She already has a fair few of her own flaws, but I definitely do not want to give little Gem Connie the sad story that has become my life.))

<Connie is looking at the photograph with an almost pained expression on her face. As she looks up at you, her grimace turns into a weak smile.>

"It really sticks with you, you know? All the media we consume, the people we encounter. Everybody grows and changes in their own way, you know? Me... I choose to let it change me for the better."

I'm just wondering, what is exactly is this AU? Could you explain it a bit more?

Alright, since all of this response is going to be OOC, I’ll put it under the cut:

Connie Quartz is an alternate universe in which Connie and Steven were born in each other’s places, with Connie as the daughter of Rose Quartz and Greg Universe; and Steven as just some human kid she meets in Beach City.

The purpose of this AU was to explore the characters relationships with each other and how they change in the absence of Steven, who I believe has a very real, positive effect on the Crystal Gems. When Steven, who is a definitely a happy, determined kid, is replaced by Connie, who’s a bit more quiet, introverted, and does as she’s told, you see the Gems change as well, and, to a lesser extent, the residents of Beach City, who’ve all be touched in some way or another by Steven’s kind and outgoing nature.

And, of course, I also made it because Connie is just adorable and I thought it’d be cool to give her gem powers.

tl:dr a lot of folks take Steven for granted so I made this AU to replace him and see how the story changes.

Pearl could only ever summon one spear, and if she threw it, that was it. Over. Done with. We used to sort of tease her about it, like, we tease each other about stuff all the time, but I think that sort of got to her...

A lot of times when I worry too much, he's right there to tell me things will be okay. And I think that's really important, because I've always have problems telling myself that..."

"Although, this one time...a old couple came up to me asking for directions. They had the whole tourist getup—cameras, sun visors, cargo shorts, you name it. Anyway, they wanted to know how to get to the water. I just turned around and pointed toward the shore, which, like, isn't really that far away from the Big Donut, but maybe it was hazy out and it sort of blended in with the sky? I guess people who don't live near the beach just forget what the ocean looks like and don't know what to expect."
