What do you mean by ‘the Cycle’?

Oh… Geez. Okay. You’re honestly better off reading a book than asking me, but.

If you’ve heard of “the circle of life”, that’s essentially what it means.

Everything in this world lives and dies and lives again, and the different ‘phases of life’ are named after the four seasons.

There’s spirits, like Shaymin and Xerneas, that are more obvious and direct manifestations of those concepts— but everyone is a part of it. Temporary and always moving.

We like to put a lot of emphasis on all that. I know that other dimensions have entire pantheons of gods, with Arceus being the Creator, but our Arceus is The Cycle.

Not… a physical deity, but everything that is. And everything— everyone— is Arceus. So… I’m Arceus, this grass is Arceus, a Magikarp is Arceus; all of the Cycle is Arceus, and Arceus is all of us.

Our world is something divine experiencing existence in a million different forms all at once. Rather than, say, an architect that built a city and all its people. Or something.

This is getting away from me— Just imagine that Arceus is a giant tree, and spirits like myself and Ho-oh are its branches, and everything else is the… leaves…? Sure. And the tree blossoms, and turns green, and loses its leaves, which feed the roots, and so on for eternity.

Sheesh. I’ve said ‘Arceus’ way too much. Anyway, that’s the abstract answer.

It’s also the catch-all term for all of the major factions that sprung up around the different phases and spirits in the Cycle. Most people here (as in, This Universe) align themselves with one of them. They’re like covens, if you care about Witch and Wizard politics.

Each “court” is like… The ‘state of being’ for each phase in the Cycle; a rest. Beginnings, Middles, Endings, Renewal. Central Court encompasses Everything.

And each “gate” is meant to be the transition between two phases; the action. Birth, Life, Death, Spirit.

So… If that made any sense at all, congratulations. You pass. It’s way too late for any of this, frankly— Yawn.

What do you mean by 'Autumn', Angel?

Windglade Shepherd, Autumn… Same thing.  I’m guessing most of you people aren’t from around here. (Or just didn’t pay attention in school…)

Brand is Summer; I’m Spring. It’s our shorthand for “we represent those parts of the Cycle on this isle.”

Destino: Well aren't you both cute. Aren't you afraid of predators? The walking icicle looks like they would snap like a twig with the slightest hit and, total offence, but Dolly Wally over here looks like they have no idea how to fight. Honestly, you'd probably be taken down in a second flat. Can you actually do anything or are you all just looks?

I don’t. Know? It’s an absol, but they don’t look… yknow…

Is that why you’re being rude, or are you provoking us as a way to have control over rejection from others? You don’t have to do that here, you know.

To the Angel, what is your relationship with Echo? They seem to really like you, with how much they seem to work for you.

“It’s not like they have a choice to ‘work for me’ or not.” The Angel shrugs, keeping his tone light. “I try to look out for them.”

“And they’re the first Autumn I’ve actually liked, so… There’s also that.”

O-oh, well, I’m not ‘un-shinied’, if that’s what you mean. A Familiar form can be any color.

It’d be terrible to attack innocent Pokémon— I don’t know anyone who is cursed, so—!

… Anyway! Um, Saph is just an acquaintance of mine. He’s— was?— A wizard, so he’d be able to explain all of that better than I can, haha…

I’ve got to go. Do Lycanroc things? Ah, but good luck with your nightmares…! (Lavender helps, bytheway.)

Rimi is surprised at how this Wooloo could be transformed into a Lycanroc. As there was a story about Lycanrocs hunting Wooloos (or maybe Lechonks).

“Wow, nice! But I have somethin’ in thought. There’s an urban legend about whenever you do something bad, an un-shinify happens.”

“Un-shinify basically turns you into a normal-colored Pokémon. According to the legend, a few mons living here were turned from shiny to normal because they illegally had a battle with one harmless mon who barely know any moves.”

“Honestly, that’s not makin’ any sense ‘cause I see mons doing bad things and they did not turn shiny.”

“Also, I have Un-shinify in my dreams during the full moon.”

In the dream, Rimi is screaming in panic “What did I do???”

Back to reality: “And that’s how it is. Also, did ya mumblin’ something? Who’s Saph?”

Hey Dolly, how does it feel to transform between almost opposite pokemon? Especially with how the flock seems to have had an eye kept open at night... it seems very, complicated.

Oh, well… I’m used to it, now. Mostly. They are afraid of me like this, but they know I’m not a stranger. Usually.

It’s kind of funny, actually… I’ve heard that your Familiar form is like a mirror, or a wish. Maybe I shouldn’t feel so different.

My friend brings me food and stuff from human places! I like when they make bug-shaped things out of non-bug things.

I don’t think there’s any actual berries in them, and they’re bad for you, but that’s what makes them good!

Sweet... but also tangy. Not unlike berries but also very different. Stronger in flavour, and texture.

I have never eaten anything quite like it.
