Dude, my friend is absolutely insane!

We just got to maruki's palace and saw how everones lives have been completely altered to be perfect as if nothing bad had ever happened to any of them. I, of course, was happy that all my closest friends were enjoying their new lives, but deep down, i know that this is wrong. This world was created for the sole purpose of everyone being happy all the time, everything they've ever lost or wanted placed into the palm of their hands. I thought this world was bad since 1: it completely discredits all of the hard work we just went through to destroy evil and get humanity to think for themselves but 2: its also such a unsatisfying way to achieve ultimate happiness. There are, of course, times when giving someone happiness is fine, like gifts or kind gestures, etc. But to completely change their lives, so nothing bad has ever happened is just revolting to me. Every one of our team members has been through hell, but we came together, fought together, and changed the world. We created our OWN happiness. I would take nothing less than the wonderful experiences we've all shared together, bonding over our joined distaste for evil people who take advantage of those they see as weaker than them.

Why am I saying all of this? You may ask. Well, my friend stated that they think this revolting dull monochrome world is COMPLETELY FINE WITH THEM!!! I couldn't believe them when they said that they wouldn't do anything about this world. I think they're crazy but i want to know what you guys think. Tell me in the notes if you would rise up against maruki or live in a world of nothing but fakery.

okay so a LOT happened but i'm finally back in the third semester with a new round of theories (currently about to enter this weird palace on 1/2)

-i've had my ultimate maruki theory for a LONG time now and it seems he's finally carrying out his actual plan to alter reality and remove pain itself. as in he did that, everyone is happy and dead people are back and morgana's an ugly human and akechi's a free man. it seems that all the wishes everyone had deep down have realized themselves in this perfect version of the world.

-so this palace we just found is likely to belong to none other than dr maruki if i had to guess. i have absolutely no idea how he managed to actually change reality, i always thought it would be via the metaverse (which does exist now), but the thing is we got rid of that. it may exist now but it didn't after defeating the evil cup god, so how is it back? what's giving the person behind all this (maruki) the ability to change all these things?

-but basically the plot of the third trimester is gonna be stopping maruki and turning reality back to normal

-one thing is that i can't tell whether or not kasumi is affected by this. she hasn't mentioned her sister, who i assume would be alive if thats what she wished for or would make her happy. actually i just remembered she can see the palace, which she has in common with akechi and joker (who are unaffected) but no one else. that means shes definitely an exception alongside them

-(btw, i was thinking those two specifically know something is wrong because they were the chosen wild cards. which, if that's true, what does that have to do with kasumi??) (i vaguely remember hearing something about a new god being created after the evil cup of doom got defeated; i may be stupid or missing something or jumping to conclusions but maybe that new god chose kasumi as its trickster? that seems to be what happened with akechi and joker if i'm not mistaken, since they were chosen as rival wild cards from the start.)

-edit edit ok so i have 3 theories how akechi is alive and well after shido's palace.

1: the public thought he was alive during or after the metaverse merge, causing him to exist in reality because mementos (where the public's consensus changes how things are) and reality (where stuff actually exists) were one and the same for a while

2: maruki was already messing with reality before and granted joker's wish for him to be alive during a gradual integration of his perfect world

3. his cognition missed i guess idk its possible

theorizing while me and my friend are fighting shido's boss fight as we speak

so the phantom thieves are gonna steal shido's heart, he's gonna confess everything for his speech when he gets elected, and the phantom thieves are gonna be like AW YEAH WE SAVED JAPAN!! after taking a moment to be emo about akechi.

but then as we celebrate saving japan, that strange being that "wants us dead" is gonna show up and threaten the whole world. (i already mentioned this, but i think theyre the voice in caroline and justine's heads, and maybe they have involvement with the fabric of reality or something. like perhaps they made the metaverse or smth idk.) so then we gotta save the world and thats the plot of the remainder of vanilla p5.

then for the third trimester all of my theories on dr maruki are gonna be relevant and he's gonna carry out his plan of altering reality to remove pain itself. and we gotta stop him somehow, concluding the story of the third semester and persona 5 royal.

back in the day people used to hate on six for dropping mono without even considering that from her perspective, he betrayed her first.

when mono finally makes it down the tv hallway and sets the thin man free (despite six's repeated efforts to keep him away), they both run into a nearby room and hide. six gets found and reaches out to mono for help, and he makes no effort to save her. after an entire game of the two of them helping and growing to trust each other, mono hides away while six gets captured.

now she's been betrayed by her only friend and warped into an unrecognizable monster with nothing but her music box to comfort her. returning from the beginning when she was locked away in the hunter's basement alone, six's music box is the one item that offers her peace in the horrific world she lives in.

and then that same kid shows up. she tries to offer him the same comfort the music box gives her, and in response he breaks it. from her perspective, the one person she had finally been able to trust in the world just left her to die and then destroyed her most important item after she offered it to him to share. after all that, why is it so hard to imagine that a traumatized child might decide to take revenge for that under stress (and who's to say she can trust him again after he abandoned her)? children can be selfish and impulsive and mean, they haven't yet learned how to make the right decisions all the time.

that isn't to condone her actions obviously, but it does explain them. she isn't some evil monster who betrayed poor innocent mono for no reason. they're both complex, morally grey characters who should be understood from their own points of view.

Just reached one of my favorite parts of persona 5, the Akechi boss fight in shidos palace! My friend started crashing out when they saw him transform and change his persona as they've been theorizing about him being evil for a long time but didn't know that he was a wildcard like Joker. Bro snapped 57 screenshots of the whole event lol! They were so confused as to why Akechi let us live and sacrificed himself. Anyways im excited to see how they react to the rest of the game, as always have a wonderful day!

even more p5r prophecies bc im bored of mementos and i need something to think about

- predictions for shido's palace (which ive been on the first trip to): we're definitely getting confronted by akechi at some point, that's probably gonna be extremely dramatic, and we're gonna succeed in preventing shido's election. (whether we change his heart or he dies or some secret third thing, im unsure but either way we're ultimately winning.) (oh and akechi ok so the crystal ball isnt telling me anything about how he ends up. he could end up redeemed, happy, dead, imprisoned, leaving the country or spending the rest of his days at ihop who knows)

- a friend told me the number of palaces/villains so there must be another one at the regular p5 ending. this palace is the one ive always had the least amount of predictions about. lately (specifically after finishing caroline and justine's rank 10) its clear to me theres some kind of evil being/stronger force at play and that being wants us dead (which i remember justine said once). if i had to guess, this individual is the one who wrote their personas list and is also the voice they've been hearing in their heads. thats literally final boss main villain behavior, so even though i admittedly don't have much proof to work with, thats enough for me to tentatively make a prediction of the last villain because you dont leave buildup like that unaddressed.

- as for the third semester ive had a guess for a VERY long time. originally it was based solely on bad vibes but then the evidence started building up and i think maruki is gonna be the final antagonist of persona 5 royal. i yapped about that in my last theory so i wont sit here and say everything again but basically my main point is, i think he's gonna be using the metaverse to alter reality and somehow defeat pain itself so we gotta stop him👍👍

im telling you i knew since day 1 DAY ONE i called it i called it i called it I WAS RIGHT

so its 11/21 and i have absolutely no idea whats happening

-its awesome because i LITERALLY CALLED akechi being the snitch and the killer and working for shido but all of this other stuff seems like its coming out of nowhere. absolutely insane that the phantom thieves had a plan all along and i had no idea?? INSANE THAT THEY KNEW??? i had no idea they had a plan or that they knew he was the killer or that the siu director was gonna die. but im SO excited that i actually figured out about akechi and him working for shido. i was actively jumping up and down and i cant wait to see where it goes from here. we're changing shido's heart to prevent his election but otherwise i cant possibly imagine how it ends, except for one thing

-so maruki's rank 10 is VERY interesting. he keeps yapping about "reality" as if it's something he can fix or change. he wants to use the metaverse and his cognitive psience research to remove pain itself from the world in a similar way to the phantom thieves changing hearts. he very clearly intends to do something to alter reality, and i think that sounds like the kinda thing an antagonist would do. i think we're gonna be stopping maruki from whatever he's gonna do to change reality with the metaverse (which, btw, is definitely happening during the third trimester since he's a royal exclusive character.) im so excited im going insane this is SO fun

its now 11/12 in my game and im gambling like crazy in the palace and im here with goro akechi kills people theory: round 2

- so in his and joker's duel, the gun he uses definitely isn't the same one he uses normally. it appears more similar to the gun the man behind the slaughter used to shoot okumura (with his left hand and everything yk yk its all connected)

- as early on as the arcade he was joking about "taking joker out" (🤨🏳️‍🌈) which is exactly whats going on now with the duel and glove and all that. i think that means he's been planning to kill me (joker) for a long time, which makes sense with him lying about when he first went to the metaverse.

- so the biggest problem with this theory is that obviously the guy's mask isnt black like madarame said back in the day. i dont have a very good explanation aside from "ignore that part and it works", but i will mention it so everyone knows i didnt forget that. im also aware that when shooting okumura and in akechi's flashback the killer seems to have a vastly different outfit from akechi. my only defenses are again "go away dont ruin my theory" and also the phantom thieves can change outfits in the metaverse all the time.

- i just thought of something so MAYBE perhaps its based on cognition like our super cool outfits are in the first place. maybe he appears with a different outfit between okumura and sae's palace because, while both seeing him as a threat, okumura knows hes the killer and sees him as such while sae doesnt?? idk this part is literally all speculation i have zero proof

- ok this theory has been building up for a WHILE but i think shido's using him for political gain and ill elaborate on that. first off, i think his goal is to set the phantom thieves up as a huge threat and then very publicly defeat them to give the impression hes saving the people and get voters, effectively putting public trust in him and taking away any suspicion from the murders i think he was doing to anyone he saw as a threat before then.

- akechi works with sae niijima on the SIU (which i cant remember what that means in the slightest), which has a director who has been speaking repeatedly to someone. both of them know what the metaverse is by name, implying him and his mysterious caller are connected to a metaverse user who is obviously the killer (goro akechi is a metaverse user who's been so for at the very least longer than he lets on and is obviously the killer). siu director and the person hes talking to were very much involved with getting that principal killed. the person hes talking to is likely to be someone in power who hates the phantom thieves and that description fits shido.

- not much more evidence for that, ive been cooking up these theories for months so its really easy to forget details and take long held theories as facts when they could always be false. (example: i actually thought the casino was gonna be shido's palace for a LONG time and i was very surprised to learn it wasnt)
