Wasteland by W. Scott Poole tells of how our culture regurgitates our fears, cultivating and nursing them to fit our modern needs. We are all screaming our heads off in horror with no signs of stopping anytime soon.

“I don’t care if I am in a state of contradiction; I don’t want to be a philosophical genius. I don’t even want to be a genius at all, for I have enough trouble just being a man.”

“Who can tell the anguish of the man who sided with the creature against the creator and who, losing the idea of his own innocence, and that of others, judges the creature, and himself, to be as criminal as the creator.”

at the time when anne frank was arrested, she was breaking the law. the people who helped hide her and other targets of the nazis were also breaking the law.
that is where it leads when you justify state violence. “if you didn’t want oppression you shouldn’t have broken the law” is an attitude that leads directly to fascism, and it rings entirely hollow from those who also support a leader that flagrantly violated the law but waived the consequences by virtue of power possession.
