Everglow
The walk is tireless
in this path knighted with flowers,
anointed with
lakeside silver flashes.
The road ceaselessly unfurls
like a stonewashed ribbon
into the lightless horizon
that was a saffron dome
some seven hundred steps back
or perhaps more;
you lose count
when the unsaid words
talk in the dialect of the twinkling
but conservative eyes,
and the uttered frivolity,
the seemingly pointless giggles
fuel the stride
like an ever renewable source
of euphoric ambience.
Laughter’s echo mingles
with the rustle of unseen wings
as the treaty of unveiling mysteries
is wordlessly signed.

Slave me into your routine, kiss me before the sun could, kiss me on places only the sun would, for I live the day my toothbrush find its home in your bathroom sink, the day my name feels old in your lips

summer notes app poetry #4
down rivers in drop d
swinging under the branching leaves
counting down days of containment
i love this place for what you made it
you wrote yourself into the pavement
you placed a guitar back in my fingers
so one day i’d shape words i couldn’t say
depollute me, wash me away
down rivers and streams
into the coral bays
into the waterfalls and into the cafes
glimpses of film to haunt my everyday
sticky note doodles, hair ties, and hoodies
i’d think you want our memories to stay
music and pool over small town beer
replay not being able to look away
depollute me, wash me away
down rivers and streams
into the coral bays
throw the cassettes down, over and over
until the music dilutes the sin
of loving something that never ended
but never got to begin
depollute me, wash me away
down rivers and streams
into the coral bays
dilute me, wash me away
down rivers and streams
into the coral bays

summer notes app poetry #3
i think that the orange metaphor is overused to symbolize love
i think oranges taste like summer flings and new beginnings but i know when i was younger i used to throw up at the way it felt on my tongue
i wish instead you’d tell me how you’d love to spread peanut butter or cheese whiz on fresh celery sticks that sat in the bottom drawer of the fridge because you knew it was my favourite. the dip would fit just right as the butter knife glided over the hallow shell i was always eager to eat like sweet sweet candy. i’d naw and savour each juicy, sticky bite, the strings of each crisp chomp coming undone, unwinding and furling around my jaw. messy, dynamic, and homemade.
you’d never get to know that celery and shaved carrots were my favourite snacks though because you were looking for someone to be the person who’d peel your oranges for you.
give me a day i don’t think about turning time to when i was three, bringing my imaginary older sisters and angels back and let the sun glaze over me like hot honey made to stiffen into golden glass, freezing time in place. back to celery sticks and hose mist rainbows.
you made me hate the way time kissed my lips.

summer notes app poetry #2
martin luther king once said that god writes the gospel not only in the bible alone but also in the trees and in the flowers and the clouds and stars.
i loved you not only in letters but in time that i gave away i like currency i didn’t have, in the flowers you gave me that live forever pressed in time in my notebook, in the tree that we sat at when i let you go because i knew you a part of you hated me, and in the stars that i saw with him and not you.
i guess what i’m trying to say is that you were the saviour that never heard my prayers and wrote out a bible i couldn’t decipher, yet i followed it out of faith for your love.

summer notes app rambling poetry #1
i look at photos that you post now under the madrid heat and i realize that you look like a stranger that i would’ve glossed my eyes over in a crowd.
a part of me realizes that i took something from you that made you who you were when i was with you.
the other half realizes that taking it was payment for never letting me see that part of yourself until time slipped into the vast adriatic ocean overripe and untouched.
