i really wish they touched this in any of the movies, like, why are the telepaths the only mutants that don't get the right to be proud?? why are they the only ones that should repress their powers? they didn't choose them

wait come back i got more shit to say......when Isildur talks to Theo about the aqueduct, it's supposed to be him getting Theo to marvel at the technological developments of his homeland, and how awesome they are. the aqueduct had now been made a symbol of the progress Númenor has achieved. this symbol is made again when Ar-Pharazôn orders the demolition of Númenor's oldest and most sacred shrine for a new AQUEDUCT. in the name of progress and ambition, Ar-Pharazôn is disdaining and insulting the Valar. holy shit. hubris really will become the fall of man.

so i've been watching the Rings of Power bc i am a huge lotr nerd and at the scene when Elendil lights a mourning candle for Isildur in the shrine i was thinking "hmmm but Isildur isn't dead though... maybe the candle will go out?? symbolising Isildur actually being alive??" because i could SMELL the symbolism coming for a mile away. and then i went "😬 ah.....i see.....!!"
