San

Goes home for Christmas, but his parents usually aren’t there

Spends time with his grandparents instead

His sister came home with him the first year, but after that, she only accompanied every other year

It’s a recharge time for San during this time of the year

He takes care of the creatures with Byeol, a cat, alongside him

They all love him

Especially a dog (courtesy of San’s grandmother who insisted they keep him) named Shiber that he treasures the most don’t mention that in front of the others

Makes potions as practice and also experiments with some ideas he had come up with

The potions room has caught fire more than once because of this 

A loud explosion that sends vibrations through the house will alert everyone else, and his grandparents will shake their heads before looking at each other until one stands up and goes to take a look (mostly his grandmother)

They can’t stay mad/annoyed for long with San apologising repeatedly and looking like that-his eyes glistening with tears and a pout on his face

Another sigh, then a wave of their wand and the room’s fixed

Plus San’s back to his cheery smile

And all is well

His parents are home more often during Easter

When they do stay, San smothers them with hugs

And the entire two weeks next to them

Finds any time they are free to do something with them

He just misses them so much

They do too

Summer is…

You have to deal with a hyperactive San who wants needs to be outdoors

Wakes up way too early somedays (”Is this really my brother/son/grandson?”)

Tries not to make too much noise but fails

Somehow still very energetic when night falls

Everyone else is tired

Other days you wouldn’t see him up and about until around noon

That’s more like the San they know

He’s there physically but his mind is asleep or somewhere else

Communicating with him would be a waste of time

You can ask him a question and he’ll react with a “Huh?” 5 minutes after

“Sannie, do you want to eat anything?”

“…”

Just sits there on the sofa

Cuddling something to his chest

Sinking into the cushions

There’s not really an in-between?

Legs crossed and a hand supporting your head, you stared off into the dreamy blue sky. Thoughts wandering in all directions. The way the clouds moved so softly and steady sprinkled peace over the whole park, and who knows maybe the whole city.

“Are you still here?”, San giggled and tapped you lightly on the shoulder.

“Oh sorry” you snapped out of the Thoughts Train™. “Why are you smiling at me like that?” the way he kept smiling at you made it almost impossible to not smile back.

“It’s just,” a soft giggle left his pretty lips once again, “you’re the best thing that ever happened to me, dear”

Dear, memory of my own

I always saw you in my dreams. I really wanted you to be real. I still do, but I realise hanging onto an idea that I created isn’t good. You are a memory i created. You aren’t real. I have to accept that.

However, for some reason I can’t stop thinking about your smile. Your smile on the day when you first told me you liked me. The way you made my soul beam in excitement. How you would fiddle with your fingers when you were nervous. The warmth of your embrace. Your gentle fingers brushing away my tears.

Though I have to remember that I made you smile. I made you say you like me. I made all the little characteristics of yours. You were my defense mechanism. Something I made up to escape reality. To escape what I actually was feeling. You were made up.

If you were made up, why does it hurt letting you go? Why does it hurt letting something only existing in my head go? To be frank, I have no idea. I don’t want to hang onto an idea my whole life. I don’t want to ruin myself anymore.

I didn’t want to live, so I dreamed. From now on I will live in reality. I will live with all the people around me, not you. I will create real memories. I will feel, I will cry, I will scream. This time without suppressing anything.

This letter is a goodbye. A goodbye to a memory of my own, that was you.

You gasped for air, clutching your hand to your heart. It hurt so bad, but you had to keep moving. You had watched your uncle, one of your your own, slaughter your father, the pack alpha. You mom had screamed for you to run, and you did, but not before you watched your uncle break her neck with his bare hands. You had run for hours, the searing pain of loss spreading though your body. How could he do that? Kill his own kin, his pack, his alpha and luna, for what? You shook your head free of the questions because you knew why, he was devastated when the moon goddess hadn’t gifted him with the alpha gene, but to his younger brother. How humiliating he must have felt, the eldest of his pack… to be a beta.
