Dear Future Me,

Today was my 100th mental health therapy session. Yesterday I ripped the metaphorical bandaid off and told my mom about my plans to get my first tattoo. It wasnt as bad as i was expecting but her reaction was still negative. That took a lot of courage for me to do because despite knowing I don’t need anyone’s permission, I still want her approval. I was prepared for a big fight. I was prepared for a lecture. What I got was a mix of disapproval and probably subconscious scare tactics. And concern. I held firm and didn’t snap back. I let the words slip off the walls I’ve learned to keep up for my own protection. I recognized in the moment she was trying to get a reaction. I saw it was her own issues, not mine.

I am growing. I am changing. I am transforming into a more authentic version of myself. Thus what I have chosen to be permanently on my body means that much more than it did before. The battles I’ve fought and continue to fight as a disabled woman requires a sharp sword. Yet I strive to remain soft and resilient as the Luna Moth.

If the Wheel of Fortune card was a food, it would be pizza, hands down and not just because of the shape.

Pizza is about variety, different toppings, crusts.

It's offering you endless combos. The Wheel of fortune is about taking all the bits and bobs and bringing them together, entering a cycle, finding change, the act of rolling with whatever life serves up ( get it (a).

Sometimes you're on top of the wheel (with thos crispy little pepperoni boats of grease) and sometimes you're under it (with anchovies and mushrooms). The point is, we're along for the ride, unpredictably and all.
