I love you Ghost Files I love you hand written challenges and stupid bits I love you black envelopes with green wax seal I love you cinematic shots of Ryan and Shane sitting on the floor. Love you ovilus and detunes cat eye mask love you Ryan's beanie in every color known to man. Love that the quality doesn't suffer even if the eps were done in 3 months instead of half a year. Love you creepy illustations that add to the atmosphere during the ep love you bigger S and smaller R coin on the floor plan. Love you red telephone with people calling with evidence from that ep in he intro. Love that every season is different and it improves hope this show will be here for another five years and more. Love you every single detail that goes into making an episode that you think people will not notice. But I assure you some people will.

Every anime/manga nowadays with both a female and male lead has the creators talking about the characters like “she’s talented, clever, incredibly endearing, the best character I’ve ever written”
and then “I made him as a joke, he’s a dweeb. I lock him in my wash machine and he squeals like a little bitch.”
And I think that’s lovely actually

Saying the pjo show should’ve been animated may seem innocuous but it’s always rubbed me the wrong way because… well, it’s not lmao. It’s a live action and it’s always been a live action, even those godforsaken movies, so why did y’all think it had a chance of being animated? And the sentiment growing in the fandom just feels like y’all realizing you can’t outright say you want to keep the book descriptions in show canon so you’ve found other ways to say it.
Not to mention, animation isn’t the best medium for a show like PJO (coming from an animation fan). Just try to imagine the scene between Sally and Percy in their cabin in the first episode animated or the scene between Grover and Percy in the infirmary animated or the scene between Annabeth and Percy on the train animated… it just doesn’t work as well because those types of scenes are where seeing actual children saying and feeling the things that they are is crucial to the storytelling.
Now, Heroes of Olympus and Magnus Chase, however, those are books that are well suited for animation.

Thinking about “Gale’s Folly” and the nature of Gale’s relationship with Mystra in bg3 through the parallel of Lucian’s* “The Erotes.”
A story in which the Aprodite of Knidos held the obsession of a young man who ultimately tried to basically fuck the statue and disappeared, likely a victim to the overwhelming power of the divinity at Knidos…being drawn into a trance of obsession and being punished severely by the forces that be for giving into those cosmically demanded desires.
Like, I love using classics to relate to fantasy storytelling!!! And while FUCK MYSTRA obviously, it’s also amusing to consider this just in a lighthearted context. Imagine Gale sneaking into Mystra’s temple to try and make out with her statue. That little freak would for sure do that.
*probably not the real author but whatevs

Every time online discourse starts, I can only think of the fact that like, wouldn’t everyone be happier right now if we weren’t doing this?
We could actually just move on. And I think a lot of people would have been able to avoid getting their feelings hurt. What if next time we just, like, didn’t?
——
That was just a general feeling, but this is definitely inspired by the new D20 Misfits and Magic discourse. All Im going to say about that specifically is, I think a lot of the time, you guys overthink things, and accidentally ruin media for yourselves. That’s okay. But you don’t need to ruin it for everyone else, I think.
You don’t need to make a post saying how adamantly you don’t want to watch something, when nobody was telling you that you had to watch it. Nobody cared at all until you condemned others for enjoying it, and made it an issue of morality. People don’t like that. When you tell people they are upholding the institution of trans-misogyny just by watching an internet show, they usually don’t like it. Usually people get mad when you say things like that. Sometimes they will even disagree!! as is the nature of the internet. I think if you don’t like that happening, you probably shouldn’t make a post. Just my opinion though I guess.
Feel free to disagree, just promise me you’ll take a big, long, meditative deep breath before you reply.

I feel like people on tumblr fundamentally misunderstand “eat the rich” and use it as an excuse to treat people however they want. The phrase “eat the rich,” should advise you to be immediately critical of someone’s exploitative wealth, not hostile beyond reason to any person you consider wealthy.
The full phrase which goes “when the people have nothing more to eat, they shall eat the rich” implies that when the oppressed group has been stripped of their human dignities, they will retaliate in an equal reaction, as a last resort to ensure base survival.
This is why it’s “eat the rich,” and not “harass the rich,” or “spread misinformation about the rich,” or “engage in cruel and unusual punishment towards the rich.” Because those behaviors have nothing to do with the base survival of the oppressed group.
“Eat the rich” is a WARNING about what will happen to oppressive systems. The natural response to an oppressor is retaliation, others will treat you the way you treat them. It’s not saying that we should “stick it to the man” by eating (or in this case abusing, violating, disrespecting, or harming) the rich, it’s saying how a group that destroys itself through oppressive regimes is to be avoided. Eating the rich would be a tragedy because it would mean we lose all pretenses of what it means to be human and prey on one another. In other words, it’s an apocalyptic prophecy.
You shouldn’t be begging for a class war on tumblr, you should be working to remove the class system to better society. Those seem like they are similar things being on the internet, but I think there is a considerable difference.
If you pick petty fights with or about vapid celebrities online because they’re wealthy, you are not an activist, you’re doing absolutely nothing. QUIT WASTING YOUR TIME.
Go invest in your community, act locally. Support education, environmental initiatives, rally for causes and local candidates, contact representatives and make your voice heard, get involved, learn new skills, be a good neighbor, anything that includes getting off your goddamn phone, I’m literally begging.

Gorgug x Mary Ann Skuttle is the purest concentrated form of an “enemies to lovers” plot on a technicality, but is devoid of anything that ever seems to make that trope appealing to people,
And I think that’s extremely funny.

i like to think that Henry Hopclap is the Jawbone of The Rat Grinders …
His home is a safe space, not only to Ruben, but to the other Rat Grinders too. Ruben spends most nights at Henry’s and sometimes Henry will wake up in the morning with all the Rat Grinders scattered across his house sleeping. He gets a little shock for a second because he didn’t expect them to come over, but quickly calms down and goes about his morning.
Mary Ann burrowed under a pile of blankets and plushies on the floor in a corner somewhere.
Ruben in his own bed in the room that Henry offered to Ruben when he noticed Ruben coming over more than usual, Buddy curled up next to Ruben facing the opposite way.
Kipperlilly hidden under a blanket on the sofa sleeping as quiet as a mouse. She’s not trying to be stealthy, she’s just small and sleepy.
Ivy and Oisin on a beanbag in Ruben’s room that is somehow big enough to fit the both of them comfortably. They’re both leaning against each other and not even fully lying down in the beanbag.
Henry clocks where each of them are before writing a quick note on a loose piece of paper:
‘Running errands. food and drinks are in usual places, just don’t burn the house down. call if you need. love you guys. - Henry’
Henry sticks it to the fridge with a magnet before leaving for the day. He knows each of their personal struggles in their lives and all he wants is to let these kids know that one person in this fucked up complicated world is always there for them no matter what.

Honestly I’m so broken up about the rat grinders. I really don’t think they will get revived after all this, and they were still just kids! They were manipulated by adults via their insecurities and anger! They are just a different example of how the teachers of aguefort are failing these children, but things could have been so different.
The kids they use to be, before Porter and Jace, deserve the be mourned just as much as Lucy.
Edit: just because after looking online apparently this is a controversial take and I don’t want anyone to yell at me, the bad kids have every right to kill them. The rat grinders are flawed and would need to change significantly if they did get revived. Especially Kipperlilly, given her track record, really needs help. I’m not saying whether their deaths are wrong or not, or that they should be revived. I know it’s just a show and that it includes violence. Just as characters, I think the rat grinders have a ton of potential and I would have loved to see them develop.

Adaine sees people. She is literally a diviner, THE oracle.
Her closest non-bad kids relationships are: her dad - a werewolf former drug dealer who attacked her when they first met, her sister - a reformed villain and personal bully throughout childhood, and her wizard friend - who worked for the conspiracy in freshman year and was canonically a bully to her friend and other students.
My point is: Adaine sees everything by nature, including the best sides of the people around her. Not only does she see who people can be, she see it before they know or could even fathom it themselves. Maybe it’s because of how truly unseen she always was for her whole life. Either way, Adaine Abernant sees people.

Watcher made a response to the valid criticisms that communicated a better solution going forward and an apology for their mistakes. In three days, they were able to synthesize the criticisms and find a better solution. Can we agree now that they are not, and never were, horrible, irredeemable people? Nor are they rich capitalists who don’t care about their community?
They are just people, trying to make content, and do what is best for the members of their company as well as their community.
I’m very happy for the outcome as people who cannot afford the subscription will be able to continue watching. I am happy that they acknowledged the flawed presentation of the change that left audience members feeling ignored. I am happy that the creators I support are the kinds of people who listen to criticism and make changes.
As they stated, this was a lesson for them. However, it should also be a lesson to the community that we cannot jump to conclusions and moralize every issue. Demonizing people and making assumptions before even allowing them to respond is just not how the world works. That isn’t how you have good interactions with people, especially in the context of creators. Many are so far removed from the idea that they are human beings, and not the online best friends built into your phone whenever you want entertainment.
I am extremely happy for both the watcher boys and the audience who processed their feelings in mature, respectful ways and gave honest, genuine criticism.
For everyone else who decided to berate those who they disagreed with, demonize people, build narratives that blame specific people (Steven), and all around acted childish, entitled, and hateful: fuck you, you don’t deserve their content and you’re lucky your spiteful attitude didn’t turn them away from content creation all together.
