i want you all to know that there is an artist (carmen papalia) who, after he started using a white cane, assembled a 12 foot long white cane and began using it in downtown vancouver. the length of the cane made it functionally useless as a device and the only purpose it served was making him an obstacle for sighted people. dare i say… 2019 goals

Me: oh yeah, if you think school photography is hard now, try imagining doing this with film.
The new girl: what's film?
Me: ... film. Like... film that goes in a film camera.
New girl: what's that mean?
Me: ... before cameras were digital.
New girl: how did you do it before digital?
Me:... with film? I haven't had enough coffee for this conversation

Sozin? Maybe not heartbroken! If having a dragon was a cool thing, and his just turned against him, maybe he needed an excuse to kill it. Sozin probably spinned the story to "I'm so cool I killed a dragon, because that's what cool guys do" and started a genocidal trend he was unlikely to care for.

Sozin started to hunt dragons meaning he killed his own dragon at some point too, his loyal companion 🤔🤔🤔

Totally agreed.
First time I watched, it was very weird to see Lin demanding Su takes any responsability for her past and just being manipulated. Lin is isolated from everyone else and of course she gets angry at Opal, because just like everyone else, her niece is not understanding why this fight is happening in the first place and pinning the blame on someone who doesn't deserve it.
Nobody stands up for Lin, even when the rift in their relationship started because of Su's reckless actions. Imagine how much that must hurt? Specially when she knows that her mother made amends with Su, but not with Lin! Toph could have stepped forward and just didn't! Now her sister, a person who's hurt her so many years ago in an event that separated their whole family (remember Toph actively protected Su from the consequences if her actions, probably hurting the straightforward Lin, then just bounced in guilt), this sister is now smiling and telling Lin to "get over it"? That's low. Really low.
I was shocked Lin just slept for 14 hours and was like "okay I forgive her now". Su never had to apologize, and nobody ever aknowledged how unfair the situation was for Lin, whose greatest mistake was to be too angry and lash out at bystanders because of a deeply unjust situation.
Lin deserved better. Also, did Korra ever apologize for calling Lin a bitter old loner?

So I like basically nothing about the Su, Lin, & Toph storyline/backstory. I mean, there are some individual pieces that I like fine, but even those I dislike in the greater context. And I especially dislike the way the conflict was resolved, pushing the notion that Lin is a bitter woman who had to learn to let go of old hurt to open up to Su who’s changed. Well, if you’re such a different person now Su, why don’t you prove it by acknowledging how shitty your behavior was in the past and, I don’t know, maybe apologize for permanently scarring your sister’s face? Like maybe come to the conversation with some humility and remorse, not this passive aggressive, “well I’m a different person now, which you would know if you ever answered my calls.” Bitch, I wouldn’t answer your calls either if you were coming at me with that attitude.
Look, I commend Su for her willingness to accept that people can change and not holding their past’s against them. It’s a good philosophy, and it’s nice to know that she extends others the same courtesy she’s hoping for from Lin; we hate a hypocrite. But she’s taken it so far, that she’s essentially treating their past as totally irrelevant no matter what and no longer holding people accountable for growing and learning from their mistakes.
