The King's Affection
Scene repainting (Final Episode)
I used to be really scared of painting without guidelines before. Even simple sketches needed to be outlined with pencils before I even ventured to paint it digitally. But I realised doing so was just me refusing to step out of my comfort zone. So I decided to break that habit and paint one of my fav scenes from one of my fav kdramas without guidelines! And here's the result.

The actual scene...

AU where Loki and reader are sent on a reluctant diplomatic mission and are asked to surrender their weapons. Loki (not being called God of Mischief for nothing) begins pulling out a ridiculous amount of daggers and swords and other spiky weapons out of ridiculous places, while the reader struggles to keep a poker face. Meanwhile the guard is close to having a heart attack. Finally Loki pulls out a spoon and places it on top of the pile.
Loki: May we enter now?
The guard: (speechlessly nods)
Reader (whispering): How many of those knives were real?
Loki (with a poker face): None except the spoon.

Hua Cheng-zhu

I loved the pose but I tweaked the face a bit. And made him taller as well.

Here's a close up.

The Lantern Ceremony
(Wangxian Fanart + Fanfic excerpt)
‘Lan Zhan,' said Wei Ying as soon as he was settled near him. ‘Since we have gone through a life and death experience together, let’s release a sky lantern together as well and make wishes.’
‘I am used to doing it alone,' he countered. It was a feeble attempt on his part to hide the fact that he was flustered, especially when he noticed how close Wei Ying was.
‘You can always change a habit, can’t you,' the latter pouted. ‘Besides, I painted this especially for you. Look.’ He held out the lantern he had been scribbling on.
It was a rabbit drawn in masterful strokes.
Lan Zhan couldn’t help admiring it. Something about the picture caused a pleasant warmth to pool at the pit of his stomach.
He didn’t realise his face had betrayed him until Wei Ying exclaimed, ‘You smiled!’

I Whatever You
A Wangxian fanart+fanfic
Lan Zhan had always wanted a bunny. Ever since he was little he had found comfort in playing with his mother's pet bunnies that used to snuggle up to him whenever he visited her. He liked their soft, warm noses pressing against his palm searching for snacks and tidbits. He liked their fluffy fur that his fingers just disappeared in each time he stroked them. And moreover, their presence itself was like a comforting blanket. Bunnies never forced him to talk. They never expected him to hold a conversation. They were happy about him just being there.
He did ask for a pet once. But his uncle was strictly against it, citing that pets would be a distraction. Not even his brother could be of help in that matter. And he accepted it. Just like he accepted the absence of his mother's comforting presence. He accepted the fact that he would never again find that warmth anywhere in this world. That it was only natural to feel the cold and just...be.
Until.
Lan Zhan looked over lovingly at his husband feeding a white bundle of fluff, making silly noises. He didn't know if he deserved this much happiness. He didn't know if this would last even. But, it was everything he had ever wanted. And damn would he fight every element in this world, tooth and nail, to keep it that way.

Under the Magnolia Tree

This is a small scene repainting I did of the Untamed series to go with the fanfic I am writing currently. You can read it here.
Lan Zhan eyed the boy with thinly veiled disapproval. He could see they were almost similar in height but the latter was more on the leaner side. Large, expressive eyes that could hardly conceal any emotion looked back at him with wary curiosity, a sudden mischievous smile gracing those lips.
It made Lan Zhan’s heart titter in a strange way. glared.
‘Come now,' the boy cajoled, the jars of Emperor’s Smile swaying as he sheathed his sword. ‘Neither of us wants this. How about I leave quietly and you pretend you didn’t see me?’
‘Lying is prohibited in Cloud Recesses.’
‘Okay, fine. You don’t have to pretend. At least let me leave. Here,' he held out a jar. ‘I’ll give you one of these. What do you say, eh?’
If Lan Zhan considered an ideal disciple of the Gusu Lan sect, this boy ticked off all the wrong boxes. He knew this one was trouble the moment he discovered him climbing the walls with a pair of wine jars after the curfew was imposed.

A small fanfiction and fanart for y'all. Enjoy!
Home is Where the Heart Lies
It was a bright sunny day when Wei Ying found himself once again in the familiar town of Caiyi. It had been...how long...a few days short of twelve months?
Almost a year since he and Lan Zhan took a tour through this place, enjoying each other’s company for the last time before they went their separate ways.
Gosh, thought Wei Ying, it feels like forever.
He picked his way through the crowded marketplace, pulling a reluctant Li’l Apple behind him.
The place didn’t seem to have changed much. They still sold loquats in the same stall. He could see the little bridge over the busy canal, boatmen ferrying passengers and goods in their little boats and dinghy underneath. Only the shop selling Emperor’s Smile had a new shopkeeper now.
It all felt so familiar. Like only yesterday, he and his shidi and shijie were disembarking at the tiny quay, on their way to Cloud Recesses.
Wei Ying took in a lungful of the cool Spring breeze, shaking off the sudden sadness that threatened to drown him, and set off in the direction of Gusu.

happy holidays! could you do mdzs for prompts? thank you c:
Wei Wuxian knows he should be grateful that Lan Xichen is here now, smiling at them from behind Lan Wangji’s shoulder, that they’re not going to be forced to wait outside the entrance of Cloud Recesses in a humiliating manner. But mostly he’s just pissed off, at Jin Zixuan for being a jerk, and at Lan Wangji for the same reason, for thinking forgetting an invitation was an appropriate reason to treat them like this. Shijie and Jiang Cheng are clan heirs, just like Lan Wangji is. He’s pretty sure the idea is for them all to get along here.
It’s an insult, plain and simple, and Wei Wuxian isn’t willing to let the Jiang enter Cloud Recesses like this.
“You are most generous,” he says to Lan Xichen, making a subtle hand gesture behind his back that causes all the Jiang disciples to freeze and fall back, no longer walking towards the entrance. He can practically hear Jiang Cheng grinding his teeth from here, but he doesn’t protest. Rank is a tricky thing with them and the disciples and the best solution they’ve found is to never, ever contradict each other when it counts, even when they think the other person is being an idiot. “However, before we enter, I must request you put up your regular wards. I understand the entrance is currently being guarded,” he inclines his head to the two Lan at the gates like he hadn’t been giving them shit thirty minutes ago, “but that’s no reason to be complacent.”
Pointing out Cloud Recesses nonsensical security system is petty, and a bit of an easy target, but it’s better than nothing.
Except Lan Xichen raises an eyebrow and asks, “What do you mean?”
This is just asking Wei Wuxian to trash his clan’s decisions, which makes no sense. Or he genuinely doesn’t know what Wei Wuxian is talking about, which is concerning enough that this is no longer about making a token protest. “You shouldn’t put up weaker wards just because you have guards here now. Even if it’s an energy drain, you should always have your strongest wards up.”
Lan Wangji is giving him a super bitchy look, which is at least what he’d been expecting. Lan Xichen’s voice is still perfectly pleasant when he says, “We do not alter the wards for shifts. I assure you that our wards are constantly set up to provide maximum protection.”
Uh.
Um.
He looks behind him, partially to hide whatever his face is doing, and partially to look at his siblings. Jiang Cheng shrugs and Shijie presses her lips together and gives a slight shake of her head. Okay, wards are his thing, he hadn’t exactly expected his siblings to notice, but from Shijie’s reaction the Lan brothers aren’t messing with him right now.
“I can’t let my shijie stay here if this is your maximum protection,” he says apologetically. He will march them all down back to Caiyi and put them on the first boat to Lotus Pier.
Lan Xichen’s smile becomes a little fixed. “Our wards are put in place by our clan elders. You have nothing to worry about.”
He could stand here and argue with them about it, but. He sketches a talisman in the air, not even bothering to ink it on paper, and sends it forward with an arrogant flick of his hand that he learned from Madam Yu.
As soon as it hits the wards it fizzles, then it all dissolves, the barrier breaking down like a string being cut.
The Lans all turn to it, incredulous. He didn’t know they had facial expressions, but that’s shock if he’s ever seen it. “They are inadequate. They are ancient and predictable and weak.” He starts sketching in the air again, and this is something that he should grab talisman paper for, but it’s easier for them to see this way. “You use silver as your grounding base, right? The air around it tastes like it. Copper is basic and old and resists meddling better, although iron will give you more flexibility for modifications. Your also weakened by using a continuous line rather than a feedback loop. Once one section breaks, the rest follow suit, which means someone only needs to find one weak spot to bring it down.” He has to put his weight into this one, shoving the glowing characters into the nearest pillar and watching his red spiritual energy flare across it. The warding barrier is back up, but different than it was before. Better. “That’ll do for now. The Jiang are happy to provide aid in updating your wards.”
If they don’t accept that help, they’re going home. He cannot handle the stress of being worried about all his martial brothers and sisters all the time because the Lan haven’t updated their practices since Lan An.
They’re all staring at him now. He shifts his weight from one foot to the other, not liking their stares, because he’s not sure what to do with them. They’re not hostile, he doesn’t think.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Shijie says, voice sweet and full of false politeness. “We may have neglected to introduce ourselves properly. This is Wei Wuxian.”
Those stares are sharper now. “Wei Wuxian,” Lan Xichen repeats slowly. “The Jiang’s first disciple is Wei Wuxian.”
“That’s me,” he agrees cheerfully.
“You are – young,” Lan Xichen settles on finally.
“The invitation said all disciples below twenty one,” Wei Wuxian says, blinking. “I’m fifteen, so I’m here. I distributed my duties among the senior disciples before I left.”
“I encourage you to accept his aid. Senior Brother Wei is a master of talismans.” Ooh, Jiang Cheng must have been more pissed off by all this than he let one. He never calls him Senior Brother.
Lan Xichen looks back at the barrier he’d just put up and says, “I see that.” His smile when he looks at them is somehow both more fixed and more genuine. “I will discuss it with my uncle, but perhaps we do need a bit of an update.” He bows and gestures to the gate. “We welcome the Jiang to Cloud Recesses.”
Wei Wuxian falls back enough so he can walk side by side with Jiang Cheng and tries not to let Lan Wangji’s heavy gaze bother him.

HuaLian (fanart+fanfiction)
You often imagine him. Leaning against the door. Smiling at something you said. Or perhaps taking the broom from your hands and helping you sweep the shrine.
Sometimes you imagine him walking beside you as you go down to the village to gather scraps or attend to the people's grievances. You imagine him standing at a slight distance, waiting for you patiently to finish your business. Even if it's getting dark.
You imagine the two of you walking back home at night, him holding your hand, gently guiding you around bumps and dips, his voice softly teasing.
When you see thousands of lanterns adorning the night sky, you imagine him lighting them and sending them off one by one. And your feet hurry at the thought, your heart thudding with equal joy and despair.
When you see a shadow, a tall man in the faint light of a candle, you break into a run, his name on your lips mingled with happy tears. And when he catches you in a familiar embrace, you know, oh you know you're not imagining this time.
He is real. He is here.

Mustard Fields (Wangxian Fanart+short fanfic)
‘What is the one thing you want most in life?’
I took a deep breath, realising the gravity of the question. The light, frolicking mood from a few moments back was gone. He had turned pensive again.
‘Why do you ask?’
‘Nothing. Just curiosity?’ he ended with a little chuckle.
A soft pang went through my heart at the sight. He looked so fragile and delicate at the moment, hiding all his demons behind a smile. In the retreating afternoon glow, he looked like a creature from another world, fae-born and ethereal.
‘I don’t know,' I said, hoping to divert him from that sombre mood. ‘Happiness perhaps?’
He nodded slowly, as if finding some deeper meaning in my flippant remark.
A comforting silence stretched between us, often filled with the soft murmur of bamboo leaves and rustling mustard plants. Sometimes the sharp cry of a homeward bound bird pierced the tranquil air.
I took a deep breath of the cool autumn breeze and leaned back, watching the few tendrils of hair that had esaped his top knot and was fluttering against his cheeks.
‘Happiness,' he paused, plucking a blade of grass and twirling it between his slender fingers, ‘it’s fleeting. I mean what is true happiness? Who defines it as true happiness?’
‘I guess it varies from person to person. What makes one person happy may not do so for another.'
He sat hugging his knees, his eyes following a little butterfly fleeting around the mustard blooms.
Presently he said, ‘Sometimes I feel happiness is like those butterflies. We know they are short-lived and too fragile to be touched. We know chasing them would only make them vanish even faster. And yet it doesn’t stop us from doing those things. Don’t we do the same thing with happiness? We know it’s fleeting and yet we never stop chasing it. Sometimes even our entire lives. I wonder why...’ he trailed into silence.
‘Perhaps happiness is in the chasing itself,' I murmured
He flopped down beside me all of a sudden, stretching his hands behind his head. ‘What a wonderful paradox though. Perhaps we are happy just chasing happiness!’
'Mn,' I shrugged, trying hard not to show my pleasure on my face.
'Lan Zhan,' he said, nudging me with his shoulder. 'Dont be so modest! You know that was a really beautiful thing you said!' His soft laugh drowned the rustle of the bamboo leaves and the plaintive cries of the birds.
And in that moment, I knew I was happy.
