*insert 2k words of watering down the fact of what he did (R APE), patting themselves on the back for their own 'measured response', implying that the victims shouldn't be believed because they went on a terf podcast, throwing in some irrelevant commentary about jkr for good measure, waxing lyrical about how gaiman/go/fandom changed their life, counselling caution and protection for the powerful, white, straight male who at the very best, by his own admission, took advantage of two very young, very vulnerable women, one of whom was literally relying on him for both housing and income at the time*

Sure, you're autistic. But if you never ask your friends how they're doing, never show any interest in their life or hobbies because you're too busy waiting to get back to infodumping about your hyperfixation, don't offer them comfort when they're upset because you're uncomfortable around emotion, then don't be surprised when they stop spending time with you.

And don't excuse your behaviour by blaming  it on your autism. It's a neurodivergence, not an all-access pass to being a bad friend; do better.
