I feel like there are a lot of people out there who needs to hear this:
If you dropped out of school because of diagnosed (or undiagnosed) ADHD, Autism, ADD, OCD, Dyslexia, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia etc… You did not fail. The education system failed you.

Myths VS facts about BPD
1. “People with BPD are unable to love.”
People with BPD can absolutely experience love, in fact, many borderlines feel love much stronger than the typical person
2. “People with BPD are abusive.”
Anyone can be abusive, including those with BPD. But we’re not inherently mean or violent. The majority of us are never abusive, even when experiencing symptoms. No disorder makes you abusive.
3. “People with BPD can never recover.”
BPD cannot be cured, but it can be treated. With enough therapy, time, and resources, many borderlines can reach a point where they no longer fit the diagnostic criteria. Recovery is possible.
4. “BPD only affects women.”
While BPD is most commonly diagnosed in women, it can affect anyone if any sex or gender identity. Research suggests that men may be equally affected, but may be misdiagnosed with similar conditions.
5. “Having BPD is a choice you make.”
Nobody would choose to have this, take it from me. BPD often stems from childhood trauma, abuse, abandonment, or hardship. No one chooses to have mental health struggles.
6. “BPD is really rare.”
BPD is actually one of the most common personality disorders. Around 3% of the population is estimated to have a BPD diagnosis. The condition isn’t rare, it’s just rarely talked about.

I think some people don't quite grasp that we mask because our unmasked selves aren't seen as socially acceptable. They think we're just a bit shy to show our quirks. They don't see that for us to unmask around them, they have to be accepting of behaviour that doesn't fit with social norms AT ALL.
neurotypical friends : i hope u feel comfortable enough to unmask around me ❤️
me unmasked : no talking . stare of a wild animal . strange noises . muttering the same thing over and over . picking at my skin .
nt friends : actually. let’s put gollum back in there. ❤️

the most helpful thing i have ever seen from neurodivergent internet spaces is “THERE ARE OTHER TIMES OF DAY TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH”. this has genuinely saved me from executive dysfunction spirals so many times.

A little reminder that the "scary" neurodivergents belong in the community too. The ones with intrusive thoughts. The ones who seem self-centered.
The people with ocd, bpd, npd. Stuff like that. They belong here too.

"adhd isn't a disability"
breaks down over trying to start tasks until he deadline is stupidly close
unable to do basic chores unless it's like 4am and then the whole damn house gets cleaned
speaks too fast
tangent and tangent and tangent. makes social situations hard
literally unable to stop themselves from interrupting people mid sentence (and the constant "*interrupts*- sorry, please continue")
knows what they want to say, cannot find the words, even if it's something basic
auditory processing disorder (pretty common with adhd), like how do you explain that you can hear but your brain has minecraft server lag and the chat will appear soon
hyperfixations, and people thinking they are special interests when they are not (they are short term, literally stops you from basic care like eating and drinking when in) edit: it was brought to my attention this comes across like special interests are easier to live with which is not the case, please do not take that away from this post!!!
impulse purchases making bank accounts cry
all or nothing. not hungry to pain. don't need to pee until pain. you get the picture
cannot sit still, like actually can't, constant moving and shuffling which people think would be cute but actually just pisses people off
doesn't have a fidget toy, not bc they are popular but bc they would have to put it away bc dylan over there got a fidget spinner and has been loudly playing with it (dylan is neurotypical)
cannot do anything if there is something else to do that day, must wait
just stfu it is a disability

Hey has anyone talked about how when neurodivergent people give an apology alongside a justification for their behaviour, it's usually a sincere attempt to explain why they acted incorrectly, but is usually dismissed by NTs as "making excuses" and attempting to escape responsibility
But NTs will often provide an "apology" accompanied by an excuse that absolves them of any actual responsibility in their incorrect action, and then get upset if any ND person points this out

Ah yes, the autistic experience of being more mature than your peers as a child/teen, and then less mature as an adult. The window of opportunity to relate is... not there
