I have so much love in my heart for Natalie Goodman.

being in next to normal was heartbreaking especially watching my mother in the audience, who lost a 2 day year old child to a disease they didn’t know until it was too late. The mother who then had me a year later.

Of course my family is one of the best case scenarios and my parents worked together to let me live the life they wished my sister could’ve, but wow

The moment the twist happened, my mom cried the entire rest of the show. My dad read the synopsis and wasn’t even able to bring himself to come.

The first thing my mom said to me once it was over “I needed to see this” and “your dad needed to see this too and I can’t believe he didn’t”

I love and relate to Natalie so dearly and playing Diana really put some things into perspective for me

Next to Normal shows everyone that grief is everchanging. Give it a warm hug before it goes away, because you’ll learn to miss it. In the quietest nights, when things are hard and you just can’t seem to fall asleep…You’ll hear it again, and you will *miss it*

Next to Normal is brilliant, and it is also one of the most moving shows you can see if done right. And being IN IT is a whole different story. You really just leave your heart out on that stage and it’s hard to find a way to experience that feeling again through theatre.

Anyways rant over, really deep in my thoughts rn :,) yearning to post clips of when I did this show because wow it was so incredible and stressful and beautiful and heartbreaking and therapeutic

I am so obsessed with next to normal!! I'm quite proud of this as I've been in bit of an art block recently! I tried getting as many song references in as possible!

My only n2n complaint is that Natalie never had any resolution.. esp after hearing her cut song .. like she completely wrecks her life, and becomes an addict. Where’s the song/scene about her making the decision to be clean ?? Or even more heart wrenching, where is her realizing she is wrecking her life and having a moment of “well yale will never accept me at this rate so fuck it”

I guess I just felt like her character arc had a hole in it that was bandaged over by every other character getting some level of resolution

Tho..

The more I think about it maybe that’s the whole point?
