A general lore question (though I guess it could translate to a gameplay aspect too).
How common or not are nicknames in this setting? Or the shortening of names and similar practices? And if it's a thing, is it also something that happens among people of MC's standing?
I'm asking because my MC's name is Leofric. But he's like... the cutest little thing, and obviously this isn't a name that truly suits him, in a way. I could very well imagine some people close to him calling him Leo, but on the other hand, considering this is a prestigious family and what not, it may be weird too...
So yeah, I'm curious about all of that!
Nicknames are certainly a term of endearment or informality, no matter the class! For the MC they could be shortened, diminutive, or descriptive. I'm not entirely sure how I want to handle nicknames yet, maybe adding a standard option during the naming portion. As far as the ROs, they could use the nickname or another term of endearment.

Wholeheartedly.

Ignoring historical accuracy XD, how'd E react to a cuddly MC who calls them their "Teddy Bear"?
😭 I... I can't! I'm in too deep. Teddy bears were named after Theodore Roosevelt, but I will compromise and used "stuffed bear", though I don't think they had those either.
Edith and Edward would only accept this in private, begrudgingly.

How would the ROs react to MC who very rarely speaks, if at all? And then, down the line, just soft occasional whispers while they're in a romance?
Fox:
The MC doesn't need to speak in order for them to understand. Every time they hear the MC speak feels as though a blessing was bestowed upon them. The urge to kiss the MC is strong.
Rabbit:
They are more than comfortable with the silence, but hearing the MC speak to them fills them with indescribable joy, to know that they feel safe enough to share that with them.
Butterfly:
They don't know how to react to this tbh, and it makes them question if they're doing things right all the more. Then, their heart can barely take hearing the MC speak to them. The delight makes them want to hold and kiss the MC.
The Uninvited Guest:
It doesn't bother them at all! When the MC does talk, they like that the MC feels comfortable enough to do so. They would kindly encourage it.
Edith/Edward:
They take it in stride, though they do wish the MC would talk more so they could know what they're thinking. They are touched, and they genuinely smile and wrap their arm around the MC's waist, leaning their ear close to fully appreciate it.
Tamsin/Thomas:
They are used to it and so would know how to communicate effectively with the MC by reading their face and body. Hearing the MC talk would make them feel complete again.

That talk about Butterfly made me realize that, yet again, I forgot they are even among the red flags to begin with.
They are 🚩(lite) lol!

Hi, same person who asked "quite a few" questions here (thank you for answering!!)! I made a few more since then. I didn't want to overwhelm you by sending them in concurrently, but I love love reading what you have to say about these guys on both blogs. Needless to say I Think About Them Often and patiently look forward to whatever you have to say whenever you do!
Do they feel more compelled to someone who shares more in common with them or someone who's more different?
If the ROs were a separate person, would they be friends with their original self?
What would they most look forward to teaching their child?
What's a hill they would die on? (can be serious and/or trivial!)
Lastly, to the red flag ROs: What are some red flags in others? Do they recognize it's a red flag immediately when they meet the person or could it creep up on them too? Would they ignore it or want to see how it plays out?
Also not really sure why Butterfly is considered a red flag? I group them in with the other masked ROs, though sometimes they remind me of E on their level of intensity or interpretation, and while some of their mentality might be a bit toxic they seem mostly normal besides that. Maybe I'm blind!
I hope you're offered some relief within your current events <3 Please stay kind to yourself for the things outside of your control.
Also, really didn't expect so many answers tbh, and for the only questions you'd skip to be both marriage ones! Interesting, interesting. My eyebrows are up in my hairline! What do these mean !!
I will never stop blushing at this, so thank you for reading and enjoying my work! The fact that anyone cares about these characters amazes me. I appreciate all the questions; they are so interesting and delve into interesting parts of them.
Do they feel more compelled to someone who shares more in common with them or someone who's more different?
Fox: No preference
Rabbit: No preference
Butterfly: Different
The Uninvited Guest: No preference
Edith/Edward: Different
Tamsin/Thomas: No preference
If the ROs were a separate person, would they be friends with their original self?
Fox: No
Rabbit: Yes
Butterfly: Eh?
The Uninvited Guest: Yes and No
Edith/Edward: NO.
Tamsin/Thomas: Yes
What would they most look forward to teaching their child?
Fox: Morals
Rabbit: Self-appreciation
Butterfly: Independence
The Uninvited Guest: n/a
Edith/Edward: Self-sufficiency
Tamsin/Thomas: Unconditional love
What's a hill they would die on? (can be serious and/or trivial!)
Fox: People should say what they mean and do as they say
Rabbit: Do no harm, but take no bull
Butterfly: They are to be admired 😂
The Uninvited Guest: They don't think about these kinds of things!
Edith/Edward: One must fend for oneself
Tamsin/Thomas: To love is to live
Lastly, to the red flag ROs: What are some red flags in others? Do they recognize it's a red flag immediately when they meet the person or could it creep up on them too? Would they ignore it or want to see how it plays out?
They all clock it pretty fast.
Butterfly: They are actually more discerning than you may think! Their main red flag is when someone else is too pompous and overconfident, because there is only room for one peacock in the room and it's them. They expect humility, and any disrespect is a turn off. But keep in mind they are only Butterfly after dark, so this only applies then 😉
The Uninvited Guest: Oh? 👀 yes please, every flavor.
Edith/Edward: They have low standards for what they consider to be a red flag, so it doesn't take much to tip them off. It's best to understand one's opponents, so they see how it plays out.
Also not really sure why Butterfly is considered a red flag?
Butterfly is an oft contested red flag, so I understand where you're coming from! My definition is thus, taken from my Romance FAQ: In short, I wouldn’t consider the relationships you can have with them to be healthy in the real world, but fine to explore in fiction. To be more specific, these routes are more akin to obsessions than equal partnerships.
I will be honest; I do not know how much it will come up in the story, if at all, but Butterfly can be quite spiteful when hurt. This and the fact that they are quite manipulative are not healthy traits!

How would E react to a super upbeat, golden retriever type MC who's also pretty touchy and follows them around everywhere?
Edith and Edward are touchy about this because their father, though they loved him dearly, was of this disposition and E has a lot of hangups from it. As for touching, they don't mind at all! After being so solitary they realize just how much they miss it. But a MC who follows them around everywhere...? They are happy, content, and relieved, but there are just some people and places they don't want the MC to see which are crucial to their business. In those times they would give the MC busy work then gravitate toward them after such meetings quite subconsciously.

OK Cupid (hehe) I've got some questions for you! Expecting some answers to be a secret and am totally cool with that :^)
Is their public appearance a priority to them?
What intimidates each of the ROs when approaching someone?
Why have none of the ROs gotten married yet?
How would married life differ from the way they live now?
Do they tend to focus more on the short-term or long-term when making decisions?
Have your characters rank these in order of importance: money, career, love life, family life
Quite a few here!
Is their public appearance a priority to them?
Yes: Fox, Butterfly, The Uninvited Guest, Edith/Edward
No: Rabbit, Tamsin/Thomas
What intimidates each of the ROs when approaching someone?
Fox: What people think vs say.
Rabbit: Where the conversation might go.
Butterfly: The prospect of rejection.
The Uninvited Guest: What they might know.
Edith/Edward: Being sure not to underestimate anyone.
Tamsin/Thomas: Other people's confidence.
Why have none of the ROs gotten married yet?
🙊
How would married life differ from the way they live now?
🙊
Do they tend to focus more on the short-term or long-term when making decisions?
Short-term: Butterfly
Long-term: Rabbit, The Uninvited Guest, Edith/Edward, Tamsin/Thomas
Bit of both: Fox
Have your characters rank these in order of importance: money, career, love life, family life
This could get too spoilery for the masked ROs, so I'll just do these two.
Edith/Edward: money, career, love life, family life
Tamsin/Thomas: love/family life (the two are inextricable to them), money, career

Hello Cupid! Thank you so much for your lovely writing! ^^ Following up one of your newer responses, E reacting to a clinical MC, and E attempting to court regardless of how MC feels about it- is E going into the relationship *trying* to fall in love, trying to make MC fall in love (or at least lust), is E themself open (initially?) to being in love, or do they just want to control MC and thinks love/lust is the easiest way to go about it?
I won't go into too much of Edith and Edward's emotions for the MC going into the engagement (for spoiler reasons), but they do intend to have a loving relationship with the MC. That said, they do feel that love/lust is a good way to have control over the situation. Sorry I can't be more specific!
