some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.

sometimes writing isn’t about talent. sometimes it’s about sitting in your chair and suffering for 45 minutes until a single sentence crawls out of your skull

Harry Potter/The Magicians crossover (sorta), Post-war AU, Brakebills University, late 1990s, slow burn, enemies to codependents, psychological intrigue, canon-typical trauma, memory manipulation, magical injury, morally gray choices, ensemble cast dysfunction, experimental magic gone very wrong, soul bond but they hate it, magical academia hell

I have my first 5 chapters revised and ready to go, if anyone is looking to beta read a Dramione endgame fic with some Theomione sections.

Okay. So. This was supposed to be a one-shot. A fun little enemies-to-lab-partners post-war Dramione detour through magical academia. Just vibes. Just banter. Maybe a haunted textbook or two.

Cut to possibly three years of overthinking and six months of actual writing later: I am now accidentally three parts (600 google docs pages) deep into a five part fic I have not posted a single word of. I have an ensemble cast—old favorites, OCs, and everything inbetween. There are footnotes. There are magical mechanics diagrams. There are character dossiers longer than my actual dissertation. There is an annotated map of the Catskills. I have invented at least two new magical disciplines, mapped out a soul bond taxonomy, and lost sleep over how many libraries is too many libraries. I no longer know how to be normal.

So here’s my humble request: I desperately need a beta reader. Someone with a strong stomach for soulbond dysfunction, magical academia, and characters who process emotion exclusively through dueling and passive-aggressive post-it notes. If you like long, slow burns, questionable moral decisions, ensemble chaos, nonlinear trauma recovery, or if you’ve ever thought “Dramione, but put them in America and give them access to muggle drugs” you might be exactly my person.

Any time I have a new little outfit or piece of jewelry, he might as well have gone ahead and bought me a villa in Florence. They stalk my instagram, find a date night post, and discuss it in class like my marriage is some sort of slow burn period drama.

He does Normal Husband Things™ and the kids act like I summoned him from another realm with ancient blood magic and now he’s bound to me for eternity. Which, I mean. Fair. But still.
