synopsis : Alex and Juno reunite at the Xavier house, this one shot follows after THIS drawing I made

"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you..."

Alex's eyes search my own for some sort of explanation. "Juno, that's not something you just fucking 'forget' to tell somebody," his voice is uncharacteristically cold.

"What did you want me to do, Alex? I lost my husband!" I feel an intense pressure in the back of my throat, I fight the urge not to cry, "you moved off to god-fucking-knows-where and I didn't want to stop you."

"Why not? This would have stopped me!"

"Because I-," I fall silent momentarily, "-I knew it would keep you here, in a house that would remind you of him, having to watch me become depressed, hear me say I hate my child. I couldn't do that to you, because I, myself, barely survived it."

Alex goes quiet, his eyes search for answers within my own, and studies my face and how it contorts with pain. "Juno, I'd jump in front of a train for you with no regrets, I'd relive a hundred lives full of agony for you, I would have stayed had you told me."

My face relaxes and I come to realize that he, perhaps, was right. "Her middle name is Alex," I say after a moment of awkward silence.

His eyes instantly softened, "really?"

I nod my head, "I think she took a quality from each of us," he knows exactly who 'us' is in this context, "she looks just like Sean, down to the freckles, she's fucking brilliant like Hank, she's got your name, your temper, and your ego-"

Alex cracks a grin and allows me to continue.

"-she's got Raven's beauty, and she has my powers. She's a wonderful kid, but she reminds me of him so much sometimes it's... unbearable."

"How do you do it, Juno? Live like this?"

"I wish I knew," I laugh under my breath, "I think that it was more difficult in the beginning... I would see him every time I would see her and I would think of him and how he died, his funeral, the life he never was able to live. I think that now, it doesn't hurt to remember him. Now, I don't think of his death, I think of his life when I see Aurora."

"Does she have a father-figure in her life?," Alex questions.

I smile, "she's got Hank and Charles."

Alex shakes his head, because I didn't truly understand what he was asking me, "I mean... are you remarried?"

The question stuns me momentarily, "... no. Well yes, but no. Hank and I-"

Alex is quick to interrupt, "-HANK?! Y-YOU AND HANK!?"

I quickly cusp my hand over his mouth, "Aurora doesn't know Sean is her father, and it just seemed right, Hank and I aren't in love romantically or anything, we don't even have any kind of wedding rings."

I take my hand off Alex's mouth, he is quick to insert his opinion, "why not tell Aurora?"

"Sean was my one true love, there's no point in me telling her that her father died, Hank loves Aurora and I, he takes care of us, he's her true father. Hank was there feeding her in the middle of the night so I could sleep, he was there at all her birthdays, he brings her and I chocolates and hearts every Valentine's day. Hank is a good man. But he is not the one I will be running to first in the afterlife."
