JUNE 24th is my BIRTHDAY.

according to the internet it is also "make a terrible comic day"!

I haven't drawn (REALLY drawn) in months. (I've been learning to write.)

I'm even drawing this with a writing fountain pen instead of a drawing pen.

I've been musically busy making art as well. (but making music is more of something that happens to me, instead of a conscious decision I make)

I've been inspired by my friends to try being creative in Minecraft, too!

(it's a learning curve.)

WHAT I'M SAYING IS:

it's important to remember that creativity comes in many forms! even a simple conversation with friends!

"I Still Think We Could Have Made It Work" - me, 2024 mixed media (magazine cutouts, tissue paper, paper grass, the fringe hem that I cut off of some denim shorts, paper towel packaging, dried fruit nutrition label, wooden & ceramic beads, embroidery floss, green paper clip, ribbon, sudoku page, fabric leaves, cocktail umbrella, doll's lace fan, dryer sheets

This piece tells the story of an abusive relationship: at first glance it seems romantic and blooming, but upon closer inspection it is just an idealistic fantasy superimposed over a cobbled-together approximation of love. It is made out of mostly garbage, as well as some various scraps I had laying around from past projects.

this piece is also going to the gallery! here's the description i wrote for it:

"This piece was inspired by the ever-increasing visual overstimulation of the modern world: what once might have been the subject of a textured, vibrant still life is now flattened - the real point of interest lies in the plastic bag that overlays it."

i just thought i'd come and update that this piece is now going to be hanging in my new local art gallery as part of its opening selection! i might be selling it too, depending on how busy the gallery gets this summer :)
