Here is Niko expressing a bunch of random emotions.
I drew this instead of a genuine reference sheet and explanation for his expressions because I find it very difficult to draw Niko digitally (doesn’t happen with any other OC) and need to be able to draw him properly before I do anything else.
8 DAYS TILL ARTFIGHT LET’S GO
If you find Niko interesting, you can check him out on ArtFight here!

Turtle practice, nothing much today. Just some studies and a WIP of (another) RotTMNT Leo redesign… because reimagining human/turtle mutant designs is still quite fun for me and I will inevitably go back to doing it every few months.

I am still not satisfied with my more realistic style drawing skills, but I can see improvement comparing my last attempt with this one! (If I were to remake this piece I would probably change the foot, arm and get better at drawing clothes).
Any Opinions? Suggestions?
Oh. and school is almost over for me so I will be able to pay more attention to my glorious mutuals soon. + ARTFIGHT HELL YEAH + I will be able to post way more art >:]

As someone who lives in Europe, watching how this all unfolds feels like an absolute joke to me. It is very entertaining.

I just want everyone to know that their dispute was referred to as an actual divorce on national TV

Hi, I saw your pterosaur wing anatomy post and I just wanna say that really love it and I can tell that you put lots of effort into it.
I also want to say this: if you want to make more accurate pterosaur wings, disregard anything from David Peters and his associated websites "The Pterosaur Heresies" and "ReptileEvolution.com."
If you didn't know, he's a well known pseudoscientist who spreads lots of misinformation about paleontology related subjects and especially pterosaurs.
I noticed that several of your art refs on pterosaurs contained his stuff and I just wanted to point that out.
I appreciate the advice! :]
Yeah… I was a bit skeptical when I first saw the model, and upon doing further research I certainly wasn’t alone. Regarding the pterosaur wings, I observed that a lot of people disagreed on the membrane configuration he presented, amongst other things…
(And that’s not even including ReptileEvolution.com, Indeed.)
Thank you. I will make sure to add a notice on the reference post regarding that.

And that was about it.
EDIT: It’s best not to trust the Peters 2002 model (or any other models he has made) As I said in my rough study, many people disagree on the membrane configuration.
Here is a very rough study of pterosaur and bird wings. Half of the time working on this was spent trying to find proper references…
I am open to constructive criticism! There is a chance that I named/drew a few muscles incorrectly because there was just. So. Many. References.
Hopefully I will be able to post more art soon, it’s just that I’m currently working through finals now :’]

Sure thing!

I kind of just… tried to combine a bunch of them in my head. Also I need to make a P2 of this because I used even more references…

Oh man, I love drawing my blorbos in ridiculous poses i find on Pinterest.
I also needed to test out a few design modifications with Niko… in particular his phalanges and limbs in general. It’s not much.
And all of this because ArtFight is around the corner (1 AND A HALF MONTHS!!!) and I need to create updated references for all of my OCs.
I should draw an ask or two now…

More questions because I can’t get enough of your silly shrimps :]
Five questions! I mean, I still have more (I’m sorry mate I have so many lol) but I think to give you just like, a few to take a look at right now would be more efficient than yeeting 20 questions in a row at you. Take as much time as you need. 👍🏽

I] Now, I have gathered that Dysphians can be found in various parts of Dysphia, like the equator and polar regions. How has their biology adapted to living in these areas? Do Dyspians have anything that could be considered a subspecies due to this?
II] Oh, and here’s an important one: What do Dysphians eat? And how do they eat?
III] How do Dysphian morals differ from those of humans? (Or well, at least I assume they do differ… I think it would be quite strange if they didn’t, with an entirely different evolutionary chain, biology, and history and all). I also assume that Dysphian morals would also vary depending which settlement I am referring to.
IV] I wonder, how advanced is Dysphian Technology? I’ve seen the above water exploration gear that Pshi uses, and observed that they have some form of agriculture, but I don’t know much more than that. Are they at discovering nuclear fission level yet? Hmm… have they even discovered atoms yet? I assume they have, as they would need to understand atoms and their electrons in particular and so on to build those robotic legs Pshi uses.
V] Are Dysphian cells similar to ours? If so, what are the similarities, and the differences? Hmm… I suppose they don’t have DNA, do they? Another very complex molecule with the same function, probably…
*cracks knuckles*
I] Now, I have gathered that Dysphians can be found in various parts of Dysphia, like the equator and polar regions. How has their biology adapted to living in these areas? Do Dyspians have anything that could be considered a subspecies due to this?
I] dysphians are mostly, but not exclusively, tied to chains of hydrothermal vents (like human settlements tend to be near a water source), so around tectonic seams all across the planet. Considering the nature of hydrothermal vents, those chains are easy to follow, so it had taken dysphians only around a couple ten-thousands of years to reach everyware, not long evolutionary, but long enough for communities to become isolated. By the time of the first coast dysphians had separated into nearly a hundred different subspecies in the whopping span of 120 thousand years.
Here are some examples! [These are all adoults]
II] Oh, and here’s an important one: What do Dysphians eat? And how do they eat?
II] Dysphians are omnivores :) The meat in their diet can range from clams, worms and small critters to predators and juvenile megafauna, while plant matter is kelp and different sorts of sea weed that's grown locally.
about how they eat.. it's tricky. before dysphians actually separated into their own species, their ancestors who lived in the deep primerally ate carcasess which because of the unique conditions down there were soft, so their jaws actually kinda regressed and became more primitive, they cant open or close them so their ‘tongue’ evolved to block the opening when not in use. between still eating softened carcasses and starting to hunt and get smarter dysphians mouths changed very little, one of the reasons being that they started to work around the structure of their mouths, preparing the parts of their quarry they couldn't scrape off with the edges of their tubular mouths for consumption.
from there the food needs to get from the mouth to the stomach, dysphians don't have the muscles necessary to swallow, in fact most beings on Dysphia can't, instead they evolved a special organ that's anchored in the stomach (which i wouldn't call a proboscis because it does not suck up food) and is used to drag food directly into it, its function is similar to a trunk so let's call this appendage trunk :D
[Juvanile dysphian, on the younger end, in an attempt to snatch and eat something they shouldn't, the equivalent of a fea]
Trunks across dysphia come in many shapes and sizes and usually serve a similar purpose, but can also be very versatile, for example they can be evolved to become a lure, or a capturing net-like device.
III] I would assume that most intelligent species would come up with a similar set of morals if they're not solitary animals. Killing without reason is unfair and is generally frowned upon even with reason, same goes for intentionally causing pain or harm to others, those are the most basic morals, in order for a community to exist and stay those rules are the minimum.
Otherwise it mostly depends on the settlement, the big differences come in how dysphians treat labor, strangers, and their young, but those aren't really morals, they are societal norms.
IV] I wonder, how advanced is Dysphian Technology? I’ve seen the above water exploration gear that Pshi uses, and observed that they have some form of agriculture, but I don’t know much more than that.
IV] My development of Dysphia isn't very time specific, like humanity Dysphia has different milestones in the scientific field, like the aforementioned First Coast ,the first successful expedition out of water and the founding of the first surface colony for example.
Pshi is from the First Coast, a middle aged mechanical engineer responsible for the ‘legs’ that allowed greater mobility than the previous to them wheels. You'd be surprised but the legs that Pshi built are purely mechanical.
Are they at discovering nuclear fission level yet? Hmm… have they even discovered atoms yet? I assume they have, as they would need to understand atoms and their electrons in particular and so on to build those robotic legs Pshi uses.
they will eventually learn nuclear fission. at the time of the first coast though, cells and microorganisms have been known for several decades already.
V] Are Dysphian cells similar to ours? If so, what are the similarities, and the differences?
There are differences but there are similarities too. For example most dysphian cells have no nucleus and full DNA, RNA is produced in the spinal cord/branches and is shipped into microfactories located in the organs and tissues to be translated into proteins.
Not all dysphian cells possess the ability to produce/translate RNA, at least independently. The cells that can produce and translate RNA I call provider cells, which are bigger and more complex compared to the working cells. all cells can breathe and produce energy for internal and external functions, but not all cells can reproduce and create their own proteins, they must first send a chemical signal to the nearest provider cell and ‘request’ proteins, be it because their lifespan is running out and they need to prepare for mitosis or they need new enzymes. This mechanism was adopted by multicellular organisms when they were starting out to fight against viruses and cancerous growths, it has proven to be effective, but other than multicellular organisms it is not widespread. colonial organisms and single celled organisms manage differently, i'll touch on that later.
Hmm… I suppose they don’t have DNA, do they? Another very complex molecule with the same function, probably…
Not.. exactly. The molecule that carries an organism's genetic material is still made up of a chain of small acids, since it is seemingly the simplest way of carrying information from hundreds of millions of years. Of course, the structure of the molecule is very different. Yes, it is made up of a chain of acids, but not the same acids like on earth, and holding the molecule together is not carbon, or at least not just carbon, but sulfate carbonate and more fatty acids. I think I will still call the genetic code DNA, since it is still similar enough and to not confuse its function.

thank you so much for this ask! Thinking about it all really sometimes pulled me out of hard place and overall these were such an interesting set of question that i wouldnt have thought about on my own :D
#I am going to go reread this now because RGHH ALL OF THIS THIS IS FASCINATING!!!#I find their trunks quite interesting...#Honestly their entire eating mechanism is interesting.#Hmm… I can also observe that the Dysphian subspecies on the bottom of the first image seems to have a sort of#hook-like structure near their mouth… I wonder what it’s for.#Time to speculate! >:]

Random test I made in my pretty unrealistic angular style. Might delete it later because I don’t like how the eyes turned out...
Messing around with the Ivilitium’s designs a lot, this one here is inspired by atlantic mackerel. I see them all the time in fish markets here and find them quite interesting.
Flat colour version and reference bellow the cut!

How do you feel about drawing machinary :]
Woah- you’re in luck! I drew these very recently as practice.
They are a bit wonky… I wanted to purposefully challenge myself by not using any sketch. Full pen head on. And of course, that combined with the fact that these glorious aircrafts are inorganic, very symmetrical and in perspective in most of the reference images makes it way harder. Worth it though!
I. love. Machinery. I’ll be ecstatic to draw any prompt regarding it!

I am currently in exam-packed weeks, so I’ll unfortunately be posting way less… :( . But! That doesn’t mean that I can’t attempt to make some doodles here and there. It may take a bit though. I may draw it today or in 3 weeks XD
So, just a reminder that my art requests are still open! I also wanted to update the art requests info post, so yeah.
please please please I want, no- NEED to draw give me ideas I’m begging you-
✗] I WON’T DO: - NSFW/kink - OCs (wait until ArtFight! ;] ) - very costly stuff (comics, many characters, etc.)
✓] I WILL DO: - Gore (not guro though - Angst, whump, etc.
Oh, and if you want to request/ask for something regarding my own OCs, go for it! I love drawing my freaky little blorbos!

For @bazookaboi ‘s long cat meme thing XD.
Obin is on the higher end of 7 feet tall on all fours and could probably hold either of these guys with one hand. I wouldn’t recommend trying to grab Rinshi, though, they’re very twisty and have lots of sharp bits.
#WHEEEEEZE#My god the look on Rinshi’s face 💀💀💀#1000/10 level drawing#I will never get over how disheveled Rinshi looks.#like a pathetic wet stray cat.
