The Invitation

Wee and Lili peeked up from the largest shell on Cironus' necklace when Zalfe mentioned them. Wee gave her a friendly wave but Lili was still a little suspicious. With all the seriousness a little shrimp zora could muster, Lili crossed her arms, and gave the Zorphin woman curt nod.

Meanwhile, Cironus turned his head to hide the blush that was forming after being called Ocean Eyes

"Cironus," he said. "You can call me Cironus."

He looked back up at her when he felt the heat in his face leave. Knowing she didn't mind him showing up had bolstered his confidence. He needed it for what he planned to talk to her about.

"It's all good! My practice sessions get loud so I wouldn't wanna disturb anyone nearby. Bad singer, remember?" he joked, referencing the first time they met.

He didn't want to strike out with another awkward moment so he pushed on quickly.

"I, uh, was hoping you'd be around here again. I wanted to talk about that invite you left me...because I've been seriously considering it. That said, I wanted to ask if there was anything I needed to do? You know, talk to your uhh…matriarchs? Leaders?”

One for Becquerel: Does he work well with others or does he prefer to do his job alone?

Hes often a loner but he enjoys one extra person or small groups, seeing other zoras as an opportunity to know em better

He despises group work or group scouting, constantly making sure everything is going good.

He finds when working with others he can trust their judgement, so when working with Sidon he knows he can just rely on, then also start to get close chatting up a storm without worry of others looking in

Zora in the Domain sleep in those pools, where does Saph sleep? Does he sleep like other zora do or in a different way to accommodate his size?

Considering how he's quite literally the second largest person in the domain? in the lake below at first

but when he started getting things in order the first thing before the restaurant was getting himself a pad practically

Knowing full well he'd need special amenities he practically has his own level, its towards the lower areas of the domain but has its own super wide water fall for him to use

its about a small area, a large pool, but even a personal bath which yes he uses for bubble baths

he has it open to anyone but sternly tells anyone who hangs out there to be careful about the stuff he has there, mostly food related but also a few memorabilia, like a few bobbles from his friends and a few things from home

also yes he does drag Becquerel for bubble bath snugs

sometimes my adhd does this thing where im not allowed to do anything because SOMETHING MIGHT occur, because usually when i sit down to do something family comes in and is like "we need to leave"

and years upon years of that has become a problematic sixth sense because I KNOW SOMEONE IS GONNA COME KNOCKING WHILE I TRY TO DRAW

Saphirion would make hand crafted cakes with decorations of your favorite animal made of fruit and other things

Like making a clownfish outta oranges

Or a sword out of icing

Also he hates "what if it was cake", waste of icing

PIRATE SHIPWRECKS?

ALL OVER THE PLACE

...Hey Cironus, am I allowed to talk about your uncle?

Wait, no, he asked about pirate shipwrecks.

Well, I can do that too!

Monster pirates are notorious in Hyrule, of course, but everyone's heard of those - especially with the whole Upheaval (and the Calamity before that). They're also not very interesting to read. Like, sure, you've got your stories about Big Boss Silversnout and Captain Scissortail, but if you're looking for anything beyond their body count, there's not much to say. They're big, mean, and ugly, but they don't really have any motivation beyond "gnarr gnarr eat the fishboats." They don't typically write anything, either, so unless they're the unusually talky type and leave survivors, you don't really get any recorded history about their personalities.

So we're going to talk about Captain Duros and the Mons Meg instead.

This one was a surprise for me! Like, yeah, I'm a goron who takes to water, but my people don't come from Eldin. We're from Alae. We float.

Duros, though? Not only was he a local, but he was a big frickin' local. Like, most of Duros' survivors back in the day called him Captain Cannonball - not necessarily because he was all that round, but because his ship, the Mons Meg, was outfitted with a cannon that he'd shoot HIMSELF out of. This guy literally punched holes in his victim's boats, and he had the knuckle welts to prove it!

This guy was vain, too. Wrapped himself in all sorts of tassels, capes, furs - whatever could twirl behind him as he thudded around his ship. The shinier the better, too: if it sparkled in the morning light, he'd latch onto it and never let go.

According to his victims, this was all about presentation. He didn't care if half of it ripped off of him as he shot out of the cannon, he could just buy more of it with the treasure he looted from your ships. Besides, the sight of all that fabric, spinning behind him like a corkscrew? That made him stick out in your mind. You were taken out by Captain Cannonball, and you will never forget it.

So what happened to the Mons Meg?

Well...the obvious thing, of course.

It exploded.

Turns out, cannons like that had an upkeep - and as ostentatious as Duros was, he wasn't so great at keeping mechanics on his payroll. After one too many times shooting out the side of his ship without fixing, the entire priming mechanism went up - and just as Duros had crippled his next ship, he turned around to find the Meg going up like a bomb flower meadow during allergy season.

Needless to say, not much is left of that ship (which, incidentally, sank somewhere around Location 4). The new one he landed on, though?

That one became the Faule Mette - and whatever you think of Captain Cannonball, what you cannot say is that he ever learned his lesson.

But yeah, there are pirate wrecks all over the place in Hyrule! I’ll have to report some more later - like, I’ll have to do some research for it, but if I recall correctly there’s a whole spate of them around Mother’s Maw, thanks to some wild zorphin called Fjord. I’ll see if I can dig it up!
