Happy 80th Birthday to The Beano today. I always remember the excitement I had as a kid, getting my 50p pocket money and being able to buy The Beano and get at least 20 penny sweets! Pillows and sleep! Since getting this human size pillow and few things have changed. We can't spoon as much as I'd like, I have much less room in the bed and my wife sleeps better....apparently. It sadly is a struggle for her to sleep at the moment and I expect that's going to get worse. Is this preparation for no sleep when the baby is here? Also, we're conscious for her to be sleeping on her side. Pram talk...what pram are you using? Does it need to cost the same as a small car? For me, I'm keen to have a pram that is light, folds easily, can be used for newborn up to 3 years and has some storage for a bit of shopping. Picked up mum to be Bounty bag (shouldn't it be parent to be?) from Tesco today and got these items. While there, I picked up a few items that were half price. Question: is NCT worth doing? Are there other options? I'll probably do the free NHS class regardless but feel something more is required, not just for the information but also for making new friends in the same situation as us. I've provisionally booked us into the NCT classes. Decided after comparing the courses they offer, that the signature class looks to be best for us, but the price is a little high. Apparently Tesco and Asda have great deals on for lots of baby related items now. Morrison's also have a few. While I still can't feel any kicks or movements from the baby, last night an amazing thing happened. I got home from work and as I started talking to my wife she said the baby started kicking and moving a lot, after not moving much all day. After hearing mum all day on her phone calls I'm sure the baby was happy to hear my voice. I find myself talking to the bump a lot or at least trying to be loud around it so it gets used to my voice. 2 questions: 1) Do you use these jar foods for your baby? 2) Would you use one of these a month after the best before date has expired? I ask these questions because, before my firstborn arrives, I have this mentality of making all the food myself for my child. I realise that until he/ she arrives I don't know if I will be able to do this. Also, I never thought I'd be buying these so soon but my work colleague did this for me today. Really sweet of her. This t-shirt made me smile but really, with my first child in the way, I don't want to have that #dadbod. I want to be #fit, #strong, full of #life and be the youthful parent for my child and hopefully children. I've got back into the #gym and even just two days in I feel more energised. With so much on my mind from buying a new home to being ready for my baby to arrive and many other things, it really does help to take some time for my own #health and #fitness. And so this new chapter in my life begins! An early dating scan reveals to me that I'm going to be a dad. This is my baby at just 6 weeks old. It's crazy that it's so so small and has a heartbeat already. Seeing it is amazing but hearing that heartbeat is something else. I can't explain it. I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of 'i can't explain it in words' along this new journey. Many things start racing through my head now, specifically what kind of dad will I be? Time is going to go by so fast. I'm going to try and document this so I have more to share and hopefully gain some advice from people that follow me along the way. My first few posts are going to be a little backdated as at time of posting this we are 21 weeks. Comments and advice is always welcome.
