Also sorry about the disappearance! This blog was based off a very big hyper-fixation that died down after a while... and now chronic fatigue has been making me unable to keep up with things. Sorry I haven’t been active on here, I’ve been on a Banban detour because I am absolutely enamored with the games and how they’re batshit insane. I am also learning coding and modeling and rigging and procrastinating and how to make anything so there’s that too.

Cosplay Update!

If you’re striving for a lovecraftian horror vibe but want to avoid some of his more overtly racist stuff I do have some recommendations.

These synopsis contain spoilers but honestly since you’re not sold on the guy I’d recommend spoiling yourself first so you can just take what you like as inspiration the first time you read it or just skim the wiki or tv tropes.

Pickman’s Model- cosmic horror themed around art, specifically paintings. Lots of interesting refs to famous artists and insight on what makes their work eerie. The narrator and antagonist are both artists. Antagonist has an interest in witchcraft and pushes boundaries with the subject matter of his paintings. The monsters featured in his paintings are way too realistic to be pure fiction.

The Music of Eric Zahn- Narrator meets an elderly musician whose original pieces sound both beautiful and otherworldly. Seems to be inspired from a supernatural force and the music is played to keep whatever it is at bay.

The Outsider- Told from the perspective of the monster and starts off sympathetic. Themes of loneliness, alienation and the horror of coming to the realization you’re not human.

Personally, I recommend you make up your own lore since I find the Lovecraft mythos to be overrated and often the stories that include his most famous monsters tend to be the most overtly racist.

Keep in mind, these works still contain racists themes it’s just not as obvious or prevalent. I.e. the first two there’s physical descriptions that aren’t obviously racially coded but the idea of using facial features to infer moral character or otherness is definitely something you’d want to avoid.

I’ve been thinking about how to respond to this ask for a while cause it’s literally so kind. You just compiled and made a synopsis of 3 stories just to make my Lovecraft experience a bit more bearable and fun. TYSM!!! THAT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

fun fact: Walt Disney tried to fund an Actual Country named Epcot and run it as dictator, but was interrupted by his death. Assuming he lived long and successful enough, what would a country run by Joey look like?

First of all I kind of knew that but still it was scary to hear (I think it was a city, not a country, though). Second of all, Joey’s hypothetical city/country is his studio 1940s-19XX: it would look like hell. And I like how you phrased Disney’s death as an “interruption” to Epcot’s progress. Like someone had it out for him.

Honestly though, if Epcot was ever made, it would have been absolutely insane. I should totally research more on it, I think it would really help the feel of the au. It’s design is almost like a panopticon, with one skyscraper monitoring all this minor, repetitive suburbia and such.

Let’s all take a moment to look at the concepts for Epcot and say, “thank you, mortality”.

On a scale to 'it's all just a dream' to 'the world is gonna fucking DIE', how disastrous would the consequences be if what was inside the studio spread out?

Also, if an urban explorer disregarded warnings and went into the studio, what would they find?

Well, since all this is the result of just a tiny sliver of the black basin being transported to Earth’s surface, it certainly wouldn’t be good. At all. But I think, when taking into terms its sentience (or even sapience), the basin is more like a parasite. If it got out, it wouldn’t gorge itself out in the open, but instead hide itself in nooks and slowly take over different establishments, along with people’s lives.

As for the other question, nothing of note if they weren’t led astray. If no one knew they were coming, and they didn’t stay for long or go too deep, they would just find the interesting but uneventful remains of a once great studio. It only gets weird when someone feeds into that morbid curiosity.

It has indeed being producing animation after animation after animation and become an award winning company even while being overrun by inky abominations. Instead, make the horrible state it is in a metaphor for capitalistic abuse or something.

Joey Drew was never a human, somewhere during his life he learned that he was born artificially and that there were others disguised as humans who were also born artificially, and who probably didn't know they weren't human. He started researching how to create life and using himself as a test subject, Henry being the only other homunculus he knew, and probably the one who told him about homunculuses, hence why Joey was too afraid of getting caught to experiment on him directly.

Searchers and lost ones are the result of trying to turn regular humans into cartoons. Cartoon clones are the result of Joey managing to catch a homunculus, but he hadn't perfected the technique yet which is why there are many of them. Joey can't tell the difference between a human and a homunculus because they can be so similar, so his only method of working is via trial and error. His 'failed' experiments can't be let out into the world again so he enslaves employs them as his staff and makes them produce more Bendy episodes. It's a stealth game and you try not to disturb the "staff" from their work, otherwise they will try and remove the distraction. Joey makes false, mindless duplicates of them that go home every day so no one reports them missing.

The loop is actually from Henry taking a look around, being like 'WTF' and leaving, over and over and over again to the point where Joey has to write 10 20 29 30 years on it and facepalm at why Henry won't join him. Henry never left the studio- his entire 30 years was just a hallucination dreamed up by Joey to not let him become too suspicious.

I like this take! Very claustrophobic and creepy. I’m imagining men going home to their wives blank-eyed and unresponsive, and then going back to work the next day without so much as an acknowledgment. Eerie!

Oh, no, don’t worry! If it was I would’ve tagged it as such. He just bandaged his arms in film as to hopefully keep them from getting too wonky, and to not remind himself of his affliction every time he looked down.

After Henry left the studio, Linda realized that he was not really himself, but stuck with him anyways because she loved him and wanted him to at least integrate back into society before saying her goodbyes. They’re divorced but on good terms.

Why does Alice look like a komodor in your au? /pos

She takes most of her traits from the cartoon Alice Angel, but just very melty because her identity is melty. She was never seen as a real angel, and used to see everything as hopeless, so that kind of led into her being all goopy, slow, and devil-like. But she’s actually one of the people comfortable with her new form, along with maybe the cultists.
