In this workshop we are introduced to basic features of motion graphics and visual effects by using Adobe After Effects CC (AE). I get to know the software interface, elemental tools, importing and interpreting footage, creating assets and be organized with media. The workshop was also introduce workflow between AE, Adobe Illustrator (AI) and Rhinoceros 3D.

In this workshop we are working with digital rendering of architectural images. Starting from a given rhino model, we develop the rendering routine working with VRAY 2.0. First, I set up an exterior scenario using the provided 3D objects and the already defined point of view. Afterwards I apply material to objects, establish a few lighting conditions of the model and render the scenes. On the next page is images that rendered out from rhinoceros program after applying materials given.

This workshop is introducing the workflow between Rhinoceros 3D and adobe illustrator. We were going through exporting different projections from a 3D model to line editing, surface coloring, patterns and accents. The objectives are to learn good practices to transfer geometry from Rhinoceros 3D to Adobe Illustrator to scale, learn how to show spaces in different parallel projections and learn how to edit lines and fills to best communicate spatial hierarchies and materials. The image on the next page is the final result of my own work on this workshop.

In this workshop we are assigned to create this shape by using grasshopper plug-in in rhinoceros program, the objective is for us to understand data types, data flow, variable inputs, list management, geometric control and baking. Also, this is to introduce additional plug-ins, list structure and color assignment, advanced plug-in operations and data rich procedures and lastly to create layouts with rhino as seen in these sample images.

The concept of perspective was applied in this workshop. An understanding of the rules and and drawing one, two and three point perspectives were acquired. This work focused on spatial and volumetric vision to interpret abstract compositions. Line hierarchy was practised, in additoin to colors and shade.

This workshop started from drawing figures with exact dimensions, proportions and scale. Figueres modelled are in the family of deltahedrons. This exercise allows a better understand of 3D modelling. Afterwards, nests were built and volumes were aggravated. The volumes were then further manipulated.

Non-linear and non parrallel forms were introduced. Analytical methods and tools were applied to be able to compose drawings of the ‘deformed’ state. Topography was then later introduced in Rhinoceros. Elevation drawing, deformation, proportion and relationships, in addition to transparency and color were used.

This workshop focused on mental construction, which was then represented in complete isometric drawings. The drawings were traced and sliced through two different planes to show hidden geometires. Skills practiced includes construction, axonometric projection, shadows and patterns on the next page. On this page we are using foam to show the relationship between each parts after merge them together.

This workshop inquires into the controlled deformation of a 3 dimensional object. Movement was rationalized through series of drawings. Relationships between form and space were determined. As shown in these sample picture we have to fold a paper to make a model then draft it out.

We have been assigned to perform an action that apply on these raw material as cut, pattern and a void. For us to understand the different between each of the action. First we draw a draft of how we going to cut the foam, or scratch it, or even dig into it. As the result I manage to create sample of them under some condition given successfully.

UNIT OF INHABITATION This is the last project phase and we are assigned to design a a room continuing from the previous phase. This phase we are talking about dimension of room like how long is this, how far is that or how tall this is. Applying this to the room we design is our objective, the room I design this phase is the Last prison cell in the previous phase. The room I designed this time is inspired from a transformable apartment room in Hong Kong, Using that in mind I decided that this prison cell is going to have the atmosphere of normal six different room in one. The size of a normal prison is too small so I double it and add a little more giving it functions and parts which can flip and slide. These simple action can create a new room each time you do it, giving six different atmosphere.

BUILDING From last phase my city is about observing and being observed so, I will design a prison in this phase. From my research if I ask normal people about what comes to their mind first when I say prison? The answer is ‘ a dark enclosed place’ which I will do the opposite! My prison building is designed to be totally transparent meaning people can observed the whole building throughly. The building is spherical spiral shape with function going on. Three floors of this building is using privacy against our prisoner, The most top floor is where the least privacy given to the prisoner. The cell is totally see through. This prison have no guards, it is publicly open meaning normal people can visit and observe these prisoner as much as they want. These prisoner is being rotated through cells by month and the much lower floor it is the more privacy gain you are. The last cell is design to be as same as a normal room as possible meaning you are ready to be release back to the community.

CITY This city was inspired from the movie called ‘ Truman show ‘, The movie is about a man being raised to become a star of this show, so he has been kept in this city full of hidden cameras, which leads me to the idea of observing and being observed. My city is separated into two parts, on the left side with very low density is the side that been observed and on the right side with very high density is where people are observing. These two parts are separated by a large one-side mirror wall so, the left side city is going to see the reflect of their own city create an illusion of full city being the same, which it’s not.

PSYCHOGEOGRAPHY This project is about collecting specific data to create a mapping for each parameter chosen by us in the assigned location and for my group that location is Soi Wanit2. Those parameter I choose was Color palette of the facade and the second one was those loose object in the street. After finish mapping the street I’ve notice that Soi Wanit2 is full with various coloring facade, there are some bright color and some that the color has been faded away due to the weathering. Those loose object consist of many things, such as parking cars, motorcycle, bicycle, several stores, but what drawn the most attention is those bunch of metal and machine scraps nearly the whole soi.

ROOM & SEQUENCE This is the continue from previous phase and this is a set of rooms. The location is the lake and the area around the entrance will be shallow water the first room is about smelling, my client will experience the smell, the moisture and the atmosphere of the water surrounding him, The second room is about hearing, the sound is echoe from the fourth room. The third room is about viewing. The effect of water ringing on the surface of the lake is quite poetic. The water is transport from the pumper at the end of the fourth room through the wall layer and dropping from the ceiling and able to see through the cylinder-like structure in the middle of the room. At that area is open so the droplet of water will hit the surface of the lake which give us the effect mention before and also the reason why I choose the lake instead of ocean is because it is still and there are no crazy stuff like waves going on. The fourth room is about feeling, there are water flow from the above and covering the wall also the water curtain. The water that flow down will enter the small gap between the floor and the wall to the fifth room so there are no water spilling on the floor. Then finally to the fifth room my client is able to submerge himself into the water he love. After that my client can swim out to the lake through the cut and enjoy himself.

ROOM & BOUNDARY My topic for this project is Hydrophilia which mean people who love in water. This project is aiming on using the human senses to introduce the client to the whole new experience of the thing he love which in this case “water”. There are many functions pack in side this one room to entertain my client and it’s related to the senses of my client such as viewing, hearing, smelling and feeling. The room is design base on the shape of a droplet of water fill with functions that will open the whole new world of water experiencing to my client, such as the cylinder-like shape structure in the middle of the room that will give my client the visual view of water drops from the ceiling to the water surface at the bottom of the room and of course the room itself is transparent.

THE INTERFACE We developed the work from previous phase to able to paint in all directions, not only a single one by using strings and bottles of colors. We performed three movements in order to create 3D direction painting. We consider this as an art work and hope people to enjoy it and appreciated how it looks. Those movements we performed are swinging 360 degree in yellow, swinging 180 degree in blue, and circular walking in red.
