#SkullznBowz This is a print I developed - it's actually a lot of fun to do prints in adobe illustrator once you get the hang of it. Pande and I need to develop a logo..... I have a feeling everything will be done in illustrator.
I mostly developed this print because tomorrow I have two fashion design job interviews.... !!! so I am spending the day updating my portfolio.... Fun! :D
Would you guys want a tutorial on how to develop prints in Adobe Illustrator?

FOREVER AGO, I promised my followers and friends on my deviantart account (http://allychan.deviantart.com) / facebook account that I would upload a new sewing tutorial since my old one is very outdated, it sucks, and is no longer how I produce clothing. The sketch above was the sketch for the shirt I created below:

The tutorial will be out sometime this month on how I create patterns for clothing. It won't be a full step by step on how to sew everything, but, it'll give a break down on pattern making, adding seam allowance, and some other nifty tricks for beginner pattern makers.  welp! That's all for now. I had a nice break, but, it's time to get back to drawing for tomorrow. Until next time!

Back in 2011 I was lucky enough to be Sumie's summer intern. She is honestly the greatest and I feel so incredibly lucky that I got to spend an entire summer learning from her. Congratulations doesn't even begin to describe what I am feeling for her. Congrats so much, Sumie! Penguin is so happy for you and feeling proud!  Gooooo check out Sumie Tachibana, Her designs and aesthetic are truly amazing!

Beginnings
With any journey, there is always a beginning.
I believe Pande and I had our start when we first met each other in middle school. We met each other over our mutual love for anime, asian culture, and art. We were in band together, clubs together, the same art cliques online, pursued artist alleys together at anime conventions, and I've always considered her to be my unofficial business partner.  Now, in our mid-twenties, we are actually considering starting an apparel business. I went to school for fashion and apparel design, and Pande is in school for graphic design, illustration, and works as a free lance illustrator... Together I think we will bring something truly new and fresh to the table. As someone who worked in the industry, for a short time (about a year), I just felt like I was getting the same story over and over, the same excuse - "It's not you, it's us" - but when you are told the same thing multiple times, you begin to wonder - is it really you? or is it really me?
My last fashion job I had I worked for a children's apparel company where it was like a fashion design job and graphic design job all in one. In a mass market you can not go super crazy with children's clothing (silhouettes, fabrics, etc)  - and this company's major aesthetic were huge appliques - which is what I mostly helped to design. Originally I was hired on the spot for my art style, but eventually was let go for the same art style that got me hired.
My boss gave me some advice which was to "pursue something with my aesthetic and staying true to myself".... and I thought that it was great advice and to pursue something more meaningful for myself.
Sometimes in this industry you can lose yourself by trying to sell yourself.
It's hard to find a company that exactly matches your aesthetic and what you believe in. I am still trying to work in the industry, but, sometimes feel as if I am lost and stuck.
Some of the best times I've ever had, however, were the times Pande and I spent together preparing for anime cons and running a very small but fun part-time business. I was so sad that I only really had the time for it in the summer time during my school breaks - and when school returned I had to neglect everything else.
Being apart of the anime con life was great, you got to meet people and partake in a very open and welcoming sub-culture.You got to experience new things you otherwise wouldn't see in your typical every-day shopping experience. You get to meet people from all over, and get to partake in everything, and feel like you actually belonged somewhere.
I think most of us can agree is something a lot of us in creative industries and sub-cultures long for. Being accepted for not being "the norm"... it can be liberating but crushing at the same time.
It's why I've decided to be a little bit more dedicated to mine and pande's vision and try to start our apparel business. With that said, I'll be using this blog to post fashion inspirations, art work, fun tutorials, and anything else we feel like we'd like to post here. I am hoping if you read this you too will stick along for our journey, and have as much fun as we plan on having.  Thanks for reading, ttfn. XO, Twill
