The Strawhat cast recreated the iconic Volume 11 cover art as part of marketing for Season 1.

What image from the manga (volume covers or chapter covers) would you like the live action cast recreate/copy as part of Season 2 marketing? Or for future seasons?

for season 2 it has to be one with only the 5/6 of them cause robin definitely won’t be marketed as a straw hat yet but this one springs to mind cause it’s fucking nuts and i love it. nami looks cute as hell and sanji’s outfit is. something!

I’m curious of when the live action reaches Skypeia. Because I feel like 8 episodes would be too much for it lol. Like 5 episodes of it would be enough. I need to reread this arc again but I also don’t want to because of the pacing 😭. I don’t remember much of what each crew member does in Skypeia other than Sanji sabotaging Enel and then saving Usopp/taking the hit “Thanks. I needed a light.” I do remember Luffy vs Enel fight. And then that’s about it lol. Most of what I remember from that arc are scenes that don’t have the strawhats.

If the live action reaches Skypeia, I think this arc would be much better, not only because of the pacing but also because the visuals of it all would look amazing in live action. Also, this arc is the perfect opportunity and time for Robin to connect and get close with each crew member before Water 7, where it all goes downhill. Water 7 and Ennies Lobby would hit so much harder in Live Action if Skypeia focuses a lot on the growing bond between Robin and the crew.

Ngl I personally think there should be more scenes between Robin connecting with either Nami, Luffy, Sanji and Chopper. Because those 4 were really emotionally affected by Robin leaving the crew. It would be nice to see some parallel scenes of Sanji, Chopper and Robin together in Skypeia or Long Ring Long Land arcs with a scene of her leaving them both in Water 7. Ngl it probably would be much more emotionally impactful and justifiable for Sanji to trust in Robin’s innocence in Water 7 compared to Nami in Arlong Park in Live Action. Because on Water 7, he knows and has spent more time with Robin before he goes after her. Like show us a scene of a really good conversation between these two prior to Water 7.

skypeia is one of my favourite arcs, it’s so good. jaya’s great, enel is a brilliant villain, i love the side characters, the visuals are so cool, the general plot is super interesting and it has some of the best outfits (skypeia nami is the cutest, and sanji, robin and zoro’s outfits all slay), robin’s first adventure with the crew and sanji’s “i needed a light” is so iconic so it’s one in most looking forward to in opla.

i honestly think 8 episodes could be an okay amount for it if jaya is 2 and skypeia is 6, and you could very well do an entire episode dedicated to noland and kalgara flashbacks because they’re important and i do agree that 5 episodes seems like the right amount for the main plot with all the straw hats.

i definitely think robin’s relationship with the crew would be more honed in on because it would make water 7 so much more emotional than it already is. robin in opla in general is something i’m ridiculously excited for so i Need to see skypeia and her as a straw hat and specifically to see her relationship with sanji because yes it would make water 7/enies lobby that much more impactful but also because i need to see my favourites interact as much as physically possible

I’ve been watching some of Taz’s interviews lately, he had interviews for promo of another film Cleaner, and it does seem that he does have a lot more to do when it comes to fight/stunt wise in season 2. I actually think they are gonna change a lot about Drum of how the final confrontation/fight happens. I get the feeling that Sanji is gonna be involved in that final fight but it won’t be against Wapol. This is based on context clues and Instagram followings, I think his fight might be probably against one of Wapol’s henchmen, probably Chess (uses bow and arrow).

I have no idea about Whiskey Peak. My hope is that he does something that doesn’t involved passing out drunk lol. I think there is a way to write that the other Baroque Works doesn’t notice him, aside from Vivi, Mr 9, Igaram and Robin. The most probable option is to separate the members of the crew. Have Zoro, Luffy, Nami be other on other side of the town, while Usopp, Sanji and Vivi on the other side. I don’t expect Sanji to fight or anything. But I do hope they start Sanji’s Mr Prince thing with him being sneaky or suspicious of Igaram.

For Little Garden, the one piece official Instagram account actually confirmed on one of the comments that the unluckies are gonna show up in season 2. They said something like “watch out for a vulture and a beaver,” which are the Unluckies that fight Sanji.

Tbh this is wild to me because I have assumed that they are gonna limit the special cgi creatures in Season 2 because I would imagine Chopper is hella expensive. They already confirmed that they are gonna be dinosaurs (in a video with Jacob Romero). And Charithra has also hinted on Instagram about Karoo. So it is somewhat confirmed that Season 2 has 2 Giants, Dinosaurs, Chopper, the Unluckies and Karoo. Imagine if they also included the Lapins?! I doubt it but this show has surprised me so much so who knows.

Like what the hell is their budget for the CGI to have this many weird/special creatures??? I mean we also have to think about the devil fruit powers in season 2! That’s ALOT of special effects to do omfg

i actually really don’t want anything about sanji on drum to be changed i’ll be honest. the avalanche and how that all happens is super important both to me in general but also to his character in general with his self sacrificial nature and how willing he is to put himself in danger or to sacrifice himself to keep his friends safe. drum is the first instance where we see that with how he gets himself really badly hurt to keep nami and luffy safe and that’s more important to me than him being in the fight later on (plus who doesn’t like seeing they’re favourite character bloodied up and hurt)

whiskey peak i definitely wanna see him not passed out the whole time. i don’t know what him and usopp could be doing cause he does need to be out of the way of the copious baroque work agents but i just hope he does something more than in the anime.

the list of special effect and cgi for s2 is staggering, no wonder it’s not out until next year. the ships, laboon, the giants, the unluckies, the dinosaurs and lapins, karoo (i so hope they’re in it), chopper, wapol and what 9? other devil fruit powers it’s insane. the budget must be crazy

What are your predictions on how the live action is gonna last?

Because Stranger Things and Squid Game are Netflix’s flagship shows that are ending this year. So Netflix is gonna look at shows that would be their “next big thing.” And I think they are fairly confident that One Piece is gonna be a flagship show.

Have you heard about the “Netflix House?” It’s kind of like a theme park and the attractions are inspired or related to their popular shows. Currently they are going to launch two Netflix houses. One in Philadelphia and One in Dallas. The Philadelphia Netflix house will have Wednesday and One Piece. The Dallas one will have Stranger Things and Squid Game. I don’t know about you but just from this alone make me think that Netflix is very confident in One Piece.

Theres also the fact that they are producing an anime remake of One Piece, where it is assumed that the pacing is much better compared to the original. Also, Season 3 is happening, even though it’s yet to be confirmed. I think they are just waiting for the opportunity to announce it, maybe on One Piece Day in Japan or Geeked Week around September or October. Some of the main cast have mentioned Season 3. Joe Mangeniello literally said that they are taking a break between Season 2 and 3, and that they will film Season 3 later this year. Some of the crew are flying back to Cape Town to build the sets. It’s happening. I know this is a stretch but imagine if they actually do yearly production or filming of each season? That would be amazing but I have to remember that it’s Netflix we are talking about here. They are so bad when it comes to green lighting and releasing these shows lol. But with One Piece, they already have so much material and the story is already written. They don’t have to wait for the showrunners and writers to figure out what happens in the next season like in Squid Game, Wednesday and Stranger Things.

i do think they’re gonna keep making it as long as it’s popular and profitable. definitely agree with it becoming one of their flagship shows cause he’s been grouped with their other biggest shows (stranger things, squid game and wednesday) and yeah it being included in the netflix house after just one season does show how confident they are in it.

season 3 is netflix’s worst kept secret and i love it. i was also wondering if there’s gonna be an announcement for it on one piece day cause it makes sense. i’m pretty confident in a 2027 release for s3 if it’s the same schedule as 2 and filming does start later this year. if they continue to greenlight the next season prior to the release of the season before yearly isn’t a crazy thought, especially because as you said the story is already there for them.

What do you think about the sets in OPLA compared to the anime and manga?

Personally, some sets in OPLA season 1 were just so beautiful. I think my favorite was the Baratie. I definitely prefer the live action version of the Baratie. I also absolutely love the look of all of the ships in OPLA. I remember being shock the first time I saw Alvida’s ship on screen. The colors were popping! I can’t believe that they actually built these ships. Some were repurposed of old ships from the Black Sails show.

(Fun fact: Alvida’s ship and Garp’s ship are the same ship, they just repurposed the design and changed the colors)

(Another fun fact: Lukas Ettlin is the director for the Drum Island episodes. He has also directed the best episodes in Black Sails. Watch “Black Sails: Battle of the Storm” clip on youtube and then imagine what he could do with snow. He can make any situation really intense. Ngl I think he is probably the best director in Season 2 based on his previous work. So I’m really excited for the Drum episodes because I really think these episodes might the best and highlights in Season 2)

For Season 2, they showed a bit of the Loguetown set, Crocus’ light house, Dr Hiriluk’s laboratory in that Set Tour video with Jeff/Buggy.

But I really want to see Wapol’s castle and throne room because the cast have said that it’s huge. They also shared that there’s gonna be a scene in Crocodile’s office and that it really looks like it’s underwater. I also really want to see the set of Little Garden, there were some leak photos of what the Mr 3’s candelabra would look like. I especially want to see the wax house because I feel like it’s gonna look better in live action. They have not shown a glimpse of these other sets (we saw a concept art of Wapol’s castle on top of a drum mountain, but we don’t see the details) and I really think it’s because these sets are one of the highlights of the show.

Ngl these arc aren’t my favorite in the manga/anime, I thought they were a bit underwhelming. But I think these arcs would look really insane in live action. Just imagining what it would look like together with the other devil fruit powers and the creatures, plus what the cast has been able to share in their “Before You Go” clips…Season 2 might be more insane and eccentric compared to Season 1.

i loveeeee the sets so much, especially the baratie, it’s just so beautiful (but that’s unsurprising, i love all things baratie).

every time i rewatch i spend a lot of time simply looking at the background and sets because they’re so detailed and beautiful and there’s so much to look at. one of my favourite parts are the wanted posters. i really hope they do more of them in season 2, i wanna see a law poster in the background.

so excited for season 2’s sets. logue town looked SO cool as did the candelabra and whiskey peak which i saw a few weeks ago. crocodiles office better be as cool as everyone is hyping it up to be (it sounds incredible)
