BATMAN: THE ARKHAM SERIES | EVERY RIDDLER GAME OVER SCREEN

Jason was tortured by Joker for so long, and I guarantee that Batman's identity wasn't the only thing Joker was able to get him to talk about. Imagine him after months of this: crying, muttering his family's names, begging someone to find him: "Dick", "Barbara", "Alfred", "Bruce". Joker has his guesses as to just who Boy Wonder is talking about, but that would spoil the fun! Besides, once his Arkham Knight gets to run around and take revenge on Batman, he can see if little Jason tries to look for his loved ones. He learned from Jason's ramblings and murmurs/sobs that his parents were both dead, but one name seems...different from the others.

And it's because when Jason first says it, it's almost two months after his torture. All the other names, he started begging for help from after a few weeks. Joker picks up immediately that this is a special thread to pluck.

"____? Ooh, that's a name you haven't wailed yet! Is it an imaginary friend, coming to save you since your Dark Knight Daddy's decided to abandon you? Or is it someone you wish you could see again? Maybe Uncle J can bring them to visit you, as a treat..."

And Jason immediately tries to lie. ____ is...dead, like his parents. But Joker muses that so are Jason's mom and dad, and he never said THEIR names while begging for help. No, this was someone special. "Why, Jason, have you got a sweetheart? Let's have a man-to-man talk about romance. Have you popped the question yet? Do they have a fetish for boys running around at night in flamboyant outfits? If so, maybe I could shoot my shot--after all, they're single now."

As the months dragged on, Joker would prod at Jason from time to time about Darling: pictures of them from afar where they're at work, on their way home, chatting with friends. Ah, young love's a fleeting thing, isn't it? Hey, now that Batman's replaced Jason, maybe ____ will get set up with the new Robin!

But Joker intentionally shows Jason something else later, too: a few old photos from ____'s bedroom, of them with Jason and a few handwritten notes they shared with each other. Guess they haven't moved on after all.

It serves a few purposes to show Jason these: it makes him believe that unlike Batman, ____ still cares about him. It lets Jason know that not only does Joker know where they live, but that he's been inside their bedroom. Maybe Joker even snaps a photo of them sleeping so Jason can have something to attempt to snuggle up to while tied up and forced to sleep suspended from a hook. And Joker knows that once Jason is let loose, he'll obsess over ____ and wind up corrupting whatever loving relationship they once had.

And sadly, it works perfectly. Once Jason escapes Arkham with Deathstroke, he sets up his hideout like a fortress and makes preparations to take Darling to keep them from being hurt or killed by Joker. Unlike Bruce, Jason WILL protect his loved one and he won't fail.

After kidnapping and reuniting with them, Jason can't stop himself from crying and throwing his arms around them that first night. He's only had those photos and scraps of paper for so long, and now they're right here in front of him. And while it still triggers him to be touched, he doesn't care and lets everything out. Over time he adjusts to being touched again by someone not torturing him, and he's so affectionate in private that it's suffocating at times. He almost never lets them leave his quarters but when he does, his men notice that he always has a hand on them--he also will talk less aggressively to them compared to everyone else, and a few men have even spied the Arkham Knight cup their cheek or take their hand gently while talking to them quietly. The instant he notices that he's being watched though, he snaps at them and tells them to quit gawking and get back to work.

He tries to be patient with them, he really does, but he can't let them leave. He knows that they're in danger, and he can't let them get hurt or killed because of him. Even when Joker dies, he refuses to let them go or contact anyone outside; Harley likely knows who they are since she assisted Joker in brainwashing/torturing Jason, Deathstroke helped set up their hideout and Jason knows that money is the only factor keeping Slade an ally. And he knows Slade is the type to use ____ as a bargaining chip if he had to. The other rogues Jason is working with would ALSO go after Darling to get leverage over him, like Scarecrow.

But when Darling keeps insisting that they can't stay like this forever, that their friends and family have no idea if they're even alive or dead, that this isn't the right way to prove your love for someone, he snaps. He KNOWS that! But he can't do anything the right way anymore. He's too broken, too damaged. And Darling is the ONE good thing in his life, and he couldn't bear them dying or worse because of him. He needs to keep them safe. He needs to KEEP them. They can't leave, ever. Once Bruce is dead, then maybe he can set up a secure way they can contact their family. But for now, they need to stay hidden away.

I LOVE this and I'm building on the idea a little bit...🦇🖤 I think Darling begins as belonging to one member of the Batfam, a romantic darling.

Bruce meets Darling through her work as a plucky detective with a bad habit of getting into trouble. As Bruce, he charms, wines, and dines her and as Batman he saves her life, Darling slowly unraveling the truth of both men as they fall deeper and deeper in love....though she still doesn't know just how dark that love truly is until it's too late.

Dick stumbles upon his Darling as Nightwing, the damsel in distress! Can anything be more romantic? Of course he starts stalking protecting her from afar before approaching her as Dick and after that, game over! He's madly in love and Darling is going to love him too, no matter what!

Jason meets Darling at some stuffy event Bruce dragged him to one night. She's the daughter of some suit and, after bumping into him in an attempt to escape some creep, they talk and laugh and dance together, Jason feeling happy for the first time. Perhaps that's how it happens. How he starts stalking her, killing for her, coveting her in ways he cannot understand. He should feel bad. Guilty even. But Jason's too in love to care anymore...

Tim meets Darling at school, on dreary day. He's doodling in a notebook and they're reading a book they have hidden behind a textbook, Tim stretching to see what it is. Twilight. Unable to resist, he leans forward and, in his best Batman voice, whispers "hang on tight, spider monkey" making them both start laughing in the middle of class. Yeah, they got detention. But they fall in love too, the seeds of a dark obsession planted on that fateful day.

Barbara has known Darling her whole life. She's always been a friend but for the past few years, something has changed. Barb has changed, friendship becoming love and love becoming obsession. She truly is ashamed of it but she cannot stop herself from watching over Darling, deluding herself into signs that mean her love is returned.

Damien meets Darling through his work...because she's the Penguin's daughter. They didn't even know that Cobblepot was married much less that he had a kid. But there she is, a picture of sweetness and innocence in such a dark world, and Daemon is drawn to her at once. He knows it's twisted and he doesn't care, too enamored to question himself.

Cassandra meets Darling through work, both on opposite sides of the line, Darling as a villain and Cass as a hero. But that just makes Cass love her more, seeing Darling as someone who is in need of saving more then anyone else. Darling was born into a crime family and, though she's not a bad person at heart, she feels as though she had no choice while secretly dreaming of escape...so Cass isn't wrong.

Duke meets Darling at a museum, a school trip that met up with a local public school. They both snuck away from their groups in order to check out an as-of-yet unopened exhibit and spend the day running around, avoiding teachers/security, and being cute. He leaves with Darling's number and a newfound obsession. 🖤

But I think all of the Darlings have something in common. Living in the same corner of Gotham, a sleepy (and thankfully villain attack free) little place, one of the oldest parts of the city. Everything, from the shops and apartments/houses to the street lamps, is still in it's original Victorian Era style. Everything is dark but cozy and in candlelight, looking over a small park. They each have a pet, an interesting job, and a secret diary (not so secret when you have a yandere reading it but anyway)!

All it takes is one.

One yandere to fall in love and bring you into the madness. Because one dark night you'll be brought home in chains, already the prisoner of one twisted love...only for the prison to grow darker, a twisted love growing tenfold. I think, for the most part, it would be a Romantic yandere x Darling x Platonic yanderes but I also like the idea of a Poly Yanderes x Darling situation (the batboys sharing a darling????). 🖤🖤

In the yandere world he would definitely choose you over money any day

He only let’s Kabal be around you

Nobody else knows anything about you especially Kano

He ain’t above using his guns to threaten those close to you or even you

He loves to call you Darling

(Loves when you say y’all)

He serves the throne because he needs money to keep you happy, comfortable and fed

Will threaten Shang Tsung for that little slow aging magic. He’ll say yes because he just loves to cause trouble for people

If you try and run he will lasso you

Hogtie you as a punishment for trying to run from him

Will have you dress in a similar style to him

Since he’s from Earth he does want a wedding to tie you to him (not just rope)

He hides you away because he doesn’t want anyone to know about you both due to him wanting you all to himself and because you could potentially be in danger as well

Showcases his guns so you know that he’s always armed

I can imagine Kotal Kahn and Shao Kahn fighting to the death over you and Mileena just skips over and twirls herself around you so happily and hisses against your neck when you say that you prefer being with her, Joke or not, she'd take it very seriously and claim you as hers.
