i’m sure no one even remembers atom existed but i just thought of how tentative and careful octavia was with him (and he was totally nice and so sweet about it) because he was. her First. the first person she formed an emotional (and physical) connection with, something that was more real than her kiss with jasper………. and she couldn’t commit fully because while she’s most likely touch starved from so much time alone she’s hesitant and she’s still feeling out her social skills and attempting to navigate platonic relationships let alone romantic ones, especially when they’re surrounded by war and tragedy and it’s dangerous to get attached immediately to someone. she loves so fiercely and it would hurt so much to lose ppl…

so it doesn’t really make sense how exactly she was able to jump immediately into a relationship with lincoln?? given the high stakes of the show couples tend to Couple Up quickly with little to no slow burn but it just feels like a huge jump that octavia wasn’t ready for narrative wise (in her character journey) let alone… non narrative wise. i think she would have benefited more from exploring all that she really wants now that she’s free to have the connections she couldn’t have before outside her mother and bellamy.

unpopular opinion: Octavia didn’t deserve to be hated for her actions. She needed support/love and didn’t get that. They turned a warrior into a leader and had the nerve to be surprised at what she did despite being in her ear telling her all the horrendous things she should do. Nobody gave her sympathy despite some of the characters doing things worst or just as bad as she did and they got sympathy/some type of help. It just makes no sense and I will never get the hate for Octavia.

Octavia writes in her letter to Bellamy that “she gets it now”. That because of Hope she understands everything that Bellamy did for her.

Which, in terms of their childhood, sure. But for everything post-bunker? I don’t believe that.

I don’t believe that Octavia would meet Hope again after years apart and immediately condemn her without seeking to understand what happened to her during that time.

I don’t believe that Octavia would poison Hope “for her own good”.

I don’t believe that Octavia would encourage Hope to die for her.

I don’t believe that Octavia would exile Hope into a toxic forest on an unknown planet because she wasn’t willing to help her deal with her trauma.

Bellamy’s words to Octavia, when she had to risk him to save her people, were “if you do this, there’s no coming back".

Octavia’s words to Hope, when she had to risk her to save her mother, were “be brave, tell him it’s done”.

bellamy stans who are angry that he died without him and octavia getting to properly reunite and ‘’’’’fix’’’’’ their relationship LMAOOOOOO and who’s fault is that???????? he’s the one who single-handedly ruined their relationship beyond repair. he’s the one who came to earth after not seeing his sister for 6 years and IMMEDIATELY undermined everything she had done to keep the human race alive. i dont know what the fuck show yall are watching but he literally said to her, in canon, this is an actual line he said, to her face, re: blodreina - “it’s a joke.” like she hadn’t just gone through 6 years of trauma whilst sacrificing her own mental health and morality for her ungrateful people? lmao ok. 

but of course he wouldn’t know that. why? oh THAT’S RIGHT, because he never bothered to ask. and don’t even come for me with the ‘octavia put bellamy in the fighting pits’ shit aka the absolute dumbest fucking argument of all time……..she only did that because HE attempted to ASSASSINATE HER. she didn’t even want to do it (she said this many times in the episode/s!!!!! again: what show are you watching?!??!?!) but rather she had to do it so she didn’t look weak as a leader.

and as if season 5 wasn’t a nail in the coffin of their relationship enough, in season 6, when octavia is very obviously suicidal, mr “you’ll always fit in with me” is just like ”get off my spaceship and stay here in what we already know is a dangerous forest, alone, on this foreign planet and die for all i care” and thEN spends the rest of the season making HER beg for HIS forgiveness????????? he’s such a manipulative, emotionally abusive piece of shit and my pOINT in this very long post is that fixing the Blakes’ relationship post s5 was never going to be possible even if bellamy was alive and also that he got what was coming to him. thanks for coming to my ted talk, keep octavia’s name out of yall’s mouths. bye.

Wanna roll me some headcanons you'd want to see in "Broken Windows" while it's still in the planning phases?

You know I would love to!! 

The dog is constantly getting into Niylah’s plants. However, Niylah can never stay mad for long because Octavia and Hyde always give her matching puppy dog eyes and all is forgiven. Niylah constantly reminds them that “they’re both lucky they’re so cute.” 

They both lead pretty busy lives but they always try to set aside date nights. Originally they were carefully planned out and scheduled but over time they just shifted into spontaneous dinner dates, hikes, or antique shopping whenever they both happen to be free. 

Whenever Niylah has to stay up late studying she often has to cram herself into bed because Octavia is already sprawled out in deep sleep with both pets by her side. 

Octavia and Niylah both love to talk about their dreams for a bigger apartment or a place of their own. They dream about everything from treehouses in the woods to penthouse apartments in the heart of the city. Deep down, they both love their tiny cluttered little apartment. 

Octavia is addicted to traveling and exploring the world so the two of them start a travel fund. Whatever extra money they can scrape together goes straight to the fund. It doesn’t usually amount to much but whenever Octavia gets disheartened Niylah is always there to comfort her and bring her back down to earth reminding her how worth it it’s going to be when they get to travel the world, just the two of them. 

Octavia almost always sings in the shower and because their apartment is small and has thin walls Niylah will occasionally join in and it becomes a duet through the walls. 

Octavia often invites over Monty, Jasper, Bellamy, Raven, and the rest of her friends to hang out at her place even though all of them have to cramp into the tiny space. All of her friends love Niylah and drag her into all of their crazy drinking games. 

Octavia’s prized possession is her old beat up motorcycle her brother gave her as a gfit before she went off to school. She loves to take Niylah out for long rides with no real destination, Niylah’s arms wrapped around her waist the whole time.
