This year I too want to try inktober challenge.
I'm not sure I'll be able to complete it, but let's give a try.
The inspiration for the drawing came from one of my favorite tv show RuPaul's Drag Race (thank you Netflix for giving me the 10th season this week).
This is a mermaid outfit worn by Aquaria and I loved it so much.
Even if it is not so literal to the poisonous theme, I was too inspired to not draw it.
This challenge will also be an excuse to finally use my moleskine (ruled...)

Today’s sketches are from Netflix’s Castlevania.
Should I stop rewatching this show?
Obviously not.

I don’t have the exact transcript of Araki’s artwork reveal talk yet but here’s some fun facts about the new DIO and Jotaro posters:
Araki wanted to draw the “two strongest people” for the posters, using compositional elements to create a strong contrast between them. The backgrounds are supposed to convey this: the “sharp angle” of Mt. Fuji versus the circular moon behind DIO. The colors - red versus blue - create contrast too.
ofc DIO’s pose references Rodin’s The Thinker … but Araki’s also evoking the wind god Fujin and the thunder god Raijin in the two works (since DIO and Jotes are basically “deified” characters). I’m a non-expert here but, some thoughts:
re: Raijin, check out Jotaro’s active downward pose along with the “lightning flash” of white that doubles as the snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji (add to that Jotaro’s pointing pose that references Clint Eastwood’s Magnum revolver - Araki explicitly pointed this out again the reveal - it’s like a lightning bolt’s shooting out from his pointing hand).
Fujin’s traditionally shown shirtless with wild red hair, wearing animal print. The wind that’s traditionally depicted as a round billowing cloth bag that trails behind him is visually a lot like Za Warudo draping around the full moon:
tl;dr, basically Araki put a lot of thought into this.
