Hands still aren’t fully recovered. I can type again, but it took so long to get to that point that I kinda gave up on meeting my deadline for the week. Rather then just writing the whole week off as a lost cause, I started working on a sequel chapter to one of my oneshots. Here’s an unedited teaser for that if you’re interested-

Ingo had no idea where he was.

But he knew he must be on the brink of death.

So cold. So tired.

Was he going into shock?

There were figures, people, just up ahead. It was dark, maybe just after dusk or just before dawn, but Ingo’s night vision was better than others. That was probably why they couldn’t see him, even though he could see them.

“Help…” He called out, his feeble cry carried away by the wind. “Help!”

He stumbled forward, desperate, unsteady, confused and lost and he needed-

“HELP!”

They heard him then, finally looked his way. Their voices muffled and scrambled, but very obviously alarmed. Several ran towards him, grabbing his arms as he stumbled and almost fell, his legs seeming to give out beneath him. How long had he been walking? How long had he been here, wherever here was?

“Have you seen my brother?” He asked one of the people carrying him, their normally burning touch numbed by the endless chill. “He looks like me, but he smiles while I frown.”

The person said something in response- but Ingo wasn’t sure what.

“His name is Emmet.” He continued, not even sure of what he himself was saying. “Is he here? Have you seen him?” It was so hard to walk forward, to keep up with the people dragging him along. Where were they taking him? Somewhere warm? To his twin?

Why was it so cold in the middle of summer?

Where have I been:

Rylee (author of The Black Coat and other such works) flew down to visit for the week so that was three weeks worth of prep, hanging out, and recovery. (I love her so much and I’m so glad she could come visit)

Unfortunately for writing though, we got the new Fantasy Life game to play together and like…

I have well over 300 hours in the first one, and Fantasy Life i is soooooo much bigger. I’m already at, like, 150 hours. It’s consuming my every waking thought and I think I probably need to get it a bit more out of my system before I can be productive again. My sleep schedule also got absolutely forked which might be affecting some things. Heck, maybe it’s my meds or something too IDK I just work here

So! Uh. Sorry about that. I’ll be back soon I promise.

You should play Fantasy Life i it’s a fantastic game I loved the original so so so much and this one is so much better and they keep giving it free updates and stuff and it’s so big and full of content and 100% worth every penny and-

🥳 Why did you start writing fanfic? 💌 Is there a favorite trope you like to write?

These two lowkey go hand in hand together lol. I answered earlier that platonic physical affection was probably my favorite thing to write and (TLDR) pure touch starvation was one of the things that drove me to finally write and publish my first fic (A Touch of Love)

The actual story is a bit longer tho lol.

Basically, I came down bad with a case of Submas obsession (as many others did) and it was consuming my every waking moment. I ADORED PLA the entire way though, and Ingo’s section was my absolute favorite (I have the black and white 2 game guides so I recognized him INSTANTLY). He definitely would have always been my favorite character, but I wouldn’t have found the submas fandom if the YouTuber I had followed for Deltrarune animatics hadn’t made a video promoting their sibling’s fic. (Shoutout to easterncriminal i guess lol) That, of course, led down the submas rabbit hole, and soon it became my every waking thought.

It got so bad I actually tried writing fanfiction (got a full chapter in) before giving up and throwing in the towel because of my health issues. I didn’t want to get attached to a project and have to ditch it AGAIN because of my crappy body.

Despite that though, it was still taking over my life, and I had no one to talk to about it. And my Mom could only listen to so much of my insane ramblings.

That’s where my therapist came in! She was the goat and recommended I join some kind of community to talk about my new special interest with. I had fairly recently read the fic End of the Line, and remembered the author talking about how they had launched a discord server recently. So! I booted up discord, joined the server and…

Well. That server changed my life lol.

By some perfect storm, Twin Spirits server was an accidental melting pot of artists, writers, AU thinkers, and just general submas lovers. (Despite the originating fic being functionally abandoned at this point, the server is still going strong on its own) People were constantly posting their stuff and getting hyped up by the other users and like, that was really cool? I looked at that I went “I could do that. I almost DID do that.” and that thought just kinda stewed at the back of my brain.

And then, low and behold, my mother took an internship on the other side of the country, so the whole family had to pack their bags and go on a cross country road trip. Absolutely miserable experience. I was uncomfortable, miserable, and unable to even distract myself with video games because all I could think about was submas. Eventually I gave in and pulled out my notes app, scribbling down some things there. Next thing I know, I’m churning out a oneshot out of pure touch starvation, editing it a bit in the hotel room, and posting it online.

And like.

I’ve posted things online for YEARS. I’ve never had more then like, one or two person even engage with my stuff.

But when I posted Touch of Love?

I got comments immediately.

It was an alien experience. I had like, five comments by the end of the day and I was so so so happy about it. It was my first, honest to goodness real success in five years. I haven’t stopped since.

So yeah! Submas changed my life in so many ways that this is really only the tip of the iceberg, and I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for you guys. Thanks for everything :)

🎨?

🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

Oh this is tricky lol. Short answer is always FaeU. I love FaeU so so so so so much and I get so giddy anytime anyone draws my boys. ItS hard to pick a specific scene in particular though, as if there’s a scene that I really want visualized, I usually do it myself (perks of being an artist on the side). But…. I guess I’d love to see art of some of the faerie wardens/leaders or even conductor lady Sneasler.

Writing wise, weirdly enough I think I’d like to see more Night of the Frenzied? I’m of the opinion that the best fan works come to be (at least in part) through group effort. Wether that be drawing inspiration from your peers or talking ideas over with your friends, other people bring in new perspectives that you don’t have. Night of the Frenzied was basically written entirely solo (I wanted to surprise my writing group) so it doesn’t really have that collaborative element. I don’t really plan on adding to it, since I don’t have any more ideas for it, but I’d love to see if it could grow into something bigger and better with other people’s help.

All that being said though, I’m not expecting anyone to actually do anything with it. It would be really cool if it inspired someone in some way, but at the end of the day, if I want to make sure it grows, I’d have to take care of it myself. So for now, it shall remain a lovely little seedling on my metaphorical shelf.

(I realize now that this only says fanART and not fanWORK, but I came up with the answer for this one before reaching that realization)

Is there a fave trope you like to write? For the ask game!

100% physical touch. (Is that a trope? Whatever)

Everyone else in my family has the brand of autism that makes them hate physical touch, and I’m sitting here with touch as my main love language. Drives me mad lol. Reading and writing about physical affection helps soothe that deficit somewhat.

(An interesting thing about the submas fandom specifically is that it felt like (emphasis on felt like. Personal experiences may differ) in the early days “the twins have no touch autism” was considered like, fanon canon. I obviously railed against that in my own fics, and, while it’s still definitely a headcanon people have, it feels less like the generally accepted norm. I like to think I helped influence some of that change, if only a little. Prooooooobably just wishful thinking on my part tho lol)
