I really want this. New name and art for basics...yes please.

What about Basic Lands with different names than the default ones? Like a functionally equivalent Plains called "Meadow" or something (it'd still be a Basic Land - Plains). I don't think it' s a good idea for standard, but it could be interesting in a supplemental set as another avenue players have to trick out their decks.

We’ve seriously talked about that. The rules could support it, but we decided against it.
