THIS! And also them kinda glazing over a lot of Marc’s background in general? Marc’s relationship with his father makes me so sad any time I think about it cause it’s so important to who Marc is. And it makes me upset at the show for not going into it cause Marc’s father is so essential to who he becomes and how he sees his faith going forward.

His father’s pacifist nature highly contrasted Marc’s growing anger/fustrations (very rooted in toxic masculinity imo) and that led to that fracture and they couldn’t mend it before he died. Marc’s father loved him, but didn’t know how to reach him and that’s sadly very realistic. (I don’t really wanna go into any further detail cause that involves shit with Randall and I lowkey hate Randall Spector, but he’s existed since 1980 so he’s lore I can’t skip over…at least for now lol)

But in the show I legit barely remember him because they had to shoe in giving him an abusive mother to like idk…justify his DID diagnosis I guess? I’ll be so real Marc’s backstory in the MCU so far feels very sanitized/audience friendly and not as nuisanced as I’ve always interpreted it.

Sorry, I kinda got off topic there, but yeah just everything regarding Marc’s Judaism and his childhood in general was kinda messed up and all over the place. I know the original Lemire book the show took inspiration from was also very “up to interpretation” at point with what was real and what wasn’t regarding facts of Marc’s childhood, but still….it could have been executed a lot better.

I’m sorry for ranting/rambling I kinda hate the show highkey. My friends are sick of me ranting about it but I gotta. I need to sleep 🙂‍↕️💤

Marc’s Judaism is very important to his character in the comics and it should’ve been more explicit in the show
