i just love how 19th and early 20th century authors are **so obviously** just as demented and offbeat as writers of today.

Even highly regarded, influential works share this unique quality of letting you glance straight into the writer’s psyche now and then, after an all too disturbing description of something mundane… after which you go “hey- you’re really just as demented as i am, in a way that feels far too contemporary for an author of the modern era ! Wow ! …um…”

It’s such an odd time capsule moment to open up a book, some forgotten lesbian love story that’s come in and out of print several times, and have descriptors like this- that may as well have come straight off of some zoomer’s body horror aesthetic tumblr blog.

I am thoroughly confused, but one thing remains true- i love artists content in their disturbances, i love authors who strive not just to create beauty, but also those who memorialize their disturbed, ephemeral mind-musings, to leave a documented account of the nature of an artists mind, unrestrained.

To artists who find inordinate beauty in the mundane, your intention to extrapolate the musings of your digressive mind into art forms will always inspire me. You are as much like me as these authors are, though they have long since passed. Isn’t it a wonderful thing?

For a girl who feels detached from reality, art sure is a real gift.

IM LOWKEY DYSLEXIC… but my new hyperfixation is esoteric high fantasy/sci fi books…. and text heavy story based video games…. haaaalppppp meeee… the writers are transmuting their words into art in my visual artist brain and i simply must be classically trained to get it all out of me !! this is torture !!! my emotions are so big because all of the despair and void is being filled up by the dopamine rushing chemicals of a new hyperfix… instead of reading sci fi novels perhaps i will read my book on DBT !! Perhaps !! but let’s not spoil the fun…..
