Re reading the original hunger games is so funny bcus katniss can literally read haymitch's mind like what. I'm dying of thirst but haymitch hasn't sent me water, that must mean that there's some nearby!! And one kiss is one pot of broth!! Like she even acknowledges that it's strange when she's like oh to peeta this would just be a pot of broth. Haymitch will give her one look and katniss knows immediately what he means and she's right every time

Meanwhile peeta is like your dress really suits you and you look nice :) and katniss is like he's trying to kill me

the lord of the rings is so honest. so raw. so sincere. so unabashedly from the heart. no snide fourth wall jokes, no attempts to alleviate the heaviness. it is is wholeheartedly earnest in its dedication to portraying hope and love and faith and loyalty and courage, and that is what makes it feel like home to so many of us. it's true to itself. it doesn't pretend to be cool and care less. it cares, a lot, and that is a rare, beautiful thing. it warms our hearts to care for a piece of fiction that was made to care about and be cared about

everyone like 'oh YA sci-fi like Hunger Games where the protagonist is special" is SO wrong that's other YA sci-fi which tried to copy thg and failed. Katniss is only important because she loves her sister. The regime doesn't fall because of uniqueness or skill or some inherent difference or ability. Sure she can shoot but that's not important. the regime falls because a girl loves her sister. Don't you get it.

living at home after graduating university is just. trying to update the layout of your room that still looks like it did when you were 16. sorting through boxes of family photos. walking through streets that look the same when you're a completely different person. thinking your room has never felt smaller. seeing the occasional cat. sitting on a park bench next to the kids park and wondering when you went from playing on the swings to sitting on the other side of the fence. picking blackberries and still getting stung by nettles because it's a skill you can never perfect. getting an ice cream on a random friday afternoon just because you can. reading all the books you meant to read four years ago. feeling exactly like you did before you went to university even though you just went through a whole life experience. grieving all the things you didn't do at uni even though it probably wouldn't have changed anything. feeling nostalgic for freshers in september even though it was the worst week of your life. longing for autumn. applying for jobs. getting rejection emails. thinking you're unhireable. longing for spring
