Recent weekend cake at @cafevetter A lovely cherry, chocolate and cream cake, with sponge and a cherry cream at the centre. No book because I was with people and engaged in conversation. I know! I was shocked too! #cafelife #cakelove #cakesofinstagram #kaffeeundkuchen #hof #writers #writingcommunity #writer #fictionwriter #bayern #bavaria (at Hof, Germany) https://www.instagram.com/p/CopmLR2oIwO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Saturday, went into Hof which meant a visit to our favourite @cafevetter for cake! This is a lovely dense chocolate cake with chocolate icing and was very chocolatey. 10/10 would eat again. And again. #proofoflife I think this is the longest my hair has been in over twenty years. Certainly, I can’t remember the last time my #tattoos were so comprehensively hidden. I almost look respectable. #headtattoos #invisible #hiddentattoos #bavaria #bayern #writer #writersofinstagram #writingcommunity #tattooedmen #frankenwald #oberfranken #nowyouseeitnowyoudont #headtattoos #headtattoo #tattooed #tattoo #wildboar #hairstylesformen #hairstyle (at Frankenwald) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn2KjIzI9zF/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“The children of December talk in ice. They frost their tongues to change the words they speak, muffling their voices with the intonations of the cold, and when they write love letters, they sign them in snow that traps the leaves between life and death.” (Old photo - new words.) #flashfiction #writersofinstagram #writer #writers #writingcommunity #autor #schriftsteller #bayern #frankenwald #monochrome #winter #amwriting (at Naturpark Frankenwald) https://www.instagram.com/p/Clyfad-If01/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Thanks for answering @neil-gaiman
Bit of a strange, and very specific, question.
In Sandman, Fiddlers Green uses the exclamation “Hoom” a lot.
I've been reading The Two Towers for the first time and noticed that Tolkien also has Treebeard using “Hoom”. I know Tolkien was familiar with Chesterton's work, and it got me thinking.
Did you have Fiddlers Green saying Hoom because it was something Chesterton was known to say a lot?
If so, do you think Treebeard says it because Tolkien is paying tribute to Chesterton?
Or was it just something common in the circles both Tolkien and Chesterton moved?
Thanks!
It was something I had wanted someone to say ever since I first encountered Treebeard as a boy, and Gilbert seemed like someone who ought to say it.

My sis came to visit the other day. Lovely seeing her regularly.
I had an awesome day, I got to go see my older brother today. We had a great chat about everything and put the world to rights. On top of that I got to spend time with my lovely little nephew. Who has the cheekiest smile and amazing little giggle. It’s becoming a regular thing visiting them which...
