The truth is I haven’t read Alice in Wonderland. I tried and I failed. Not because I didn’t like it, but because wasn’t in the mood I supposed. One of my friend asked me to do this one. So I did. The idea came pretty fast. I wanted something to do with the white rabbit, something simple. I needed to play a lot with the ears. At first I just insert one pair, but felt there were too much empty space. Then I thought about Alice falling into the hole and it gave me the idea to make it to pair. To give it eccentric feel Wonderland have. I really like the movies, the animated and the live action, even the sequel. I love books A LOT… so when I started studying graphic design, and found out that I didn’t really like the career that much, discovering editorial design was what stop me from dropping out. Book designing was the field I felt comfortable in. I always knew books were passion, but for reason while deciding what to study at college I refuse to choose something related to (like literature or publishing).

That’s why I decided to start this… thing? where I’ll do cover redesigns to my favorite books, books I want to read or book that my friends suggest. So of course I needed to start with my favorite book.

LOLITA by Vladimir Nabokov

I remember reading, right her on Tumblr, that Nabokov have some specifications for what he wanted the book cover of Lolita to be. What I really remember was this: “There is one subject which I am emphatically opposed to: any kind of representation of a little girl.” I suppose there’s need to say that, the image he was so against to, is the image universally known for this novel.

I decided to take the challenge and design something without using a girl, that transmit the essence of the story. Thought in the end, I focus my cover in this quote:

“For Little Lo was aware of that glow of hers, and I would often catch her coulant un regard in the direction of some amiable male, some grease monkey, with a sinewy golden-brown of forearm and watch-braceleted wrist, and hardly had I turned my back to go and buy this very Lo a lollipop, than I would hear her and the fair mechanic burst into a perfect love song of wisecracks.”

Immediately, the image of a heart shaped lollipop came to my mind. I love simple designs, the minimalistic covers that use a mere image or the right use of typography. So I decide to go with that style, the one that fit me better.

In the end, I’m very pleased with the result. Pleased enough that I decided to share it here.

Creature: Water Nymph

For the contest I decided to represent a water nymph from the greek mytology. This are female spirits, protectors of water bodies as rivers, sea and fountains. I envision them as shapeshifter who can turn themselves from humans to nymph as pleased. Creatures who possess water powers, hydrokinesis

And while everyone in Teen Wolf fandom is crying, I sketch Lydia.. I just love the girl too much.

I saw this pretty dress in this: http://vincecarters.tumblr.com/post/76258753953/collections-that-are-raw-as-fuck-zuhair-murad collection and I thought Lydia would look absolutely gorgeous in it. So I sketched my girl <3 with her body type I got inspired by several pictures of Holland ~ hope you like it!
