This is an amazing new idea coming to consumers. My wife and I recently purchased a house with an acre lot and I'm already envisioning something like this for a guest suite or outdoor office space. Hopefully competition arrives in this sector. It seems that home or land ownership may now be within reach for those who previously believed it was impossible.

A few years ago and before we were married, my wife and I moved to a new city, separately and from different places, but for the same reason. We wanted to see a city, suffering from its own darkness and culture, be brought to life and renewed through the Holy Spirit. The mission of our church was to see neighbors, coworkers, and friends from this city put their faith in Jesus Christ and be transformed through Him. We wanted to establish a church that was based on the Word of God, not culture or politics. One look at our world today and it is clear: not all are looking for truth. In our society, we substitute "truth" for what makes us feel good, change our morality to fit the times, and are more persuaded by popularity than logic and reasoning. This issue isn't new and the Christian Church has not been immune to it either.
This brought us to our new home: a city filled with churches but lacking roots in anything. A city divided between two gods: the Democrat and Republican parties. Some time after moving here, I forgot the mission. I was so focused on my own comfort and pride that I became unable to see the needs of the city. I became the sluggard who "does not plow in autumn," and therefore "will seek at harvest and have nothing." One of the many joys of marriage is the newfound conviction to not just be a dreamer, but a "doer" as well. And as the articles states, to not just be a doer, but a "drawer" of my wife in my "doing."

I can't believe I'm just now looking into this, but if you're a Mac fan, this is an incredible deal. I'm someone who likes to get a new computer every few years - not because I need to but because there's something special about the new Mac or MacBook when it comes out. Basically, they split the total price over 36 months at a discount with no interest and then have a lump sum payment at the end to buy out the computer. You can either choose to pay off the loan OR stay in the program and upgrade to another machine. If you choose to upgrade, Best Buy will pay off the balance of your loan.
The only issue I see for the consumer is reselling the device. But theoretically, you should be able to buy out your contract at any point and if reselling it was a better deal, you would have the freedom to do that. It's an incredible idea!

I definitely appreciate the response! I remember we both had a pretty beneficial conversation on OCD a while ago. I'm not sure if you've read the books or not, and I have to admit that I have not read them, just seen excerpts. But, the way I see it, sexual content is sexual content. It doesn't matter who it's between or if it's even just one person. I wanted to be sure before responding so I checked the first 4 books on the list and they include masturbation, oral sex, groping, etc. I can understand that the context surrounding these scenes can make someone feel empowered. It'd probably be the same for a woman who was dumped by her boyfriend and listened to a song that rails against men with cursing and death wishes. That song might make her feel better. You know what I mean? Just because it might make her feel better doesn't make it less explicit. The context that these books are written around is a different conversation. My opinion is that having a book in a school library that goes into details on sex is explicit, period. It doesn't matter who the subject of the sexual act is.
Again, I do appreciate you engaging with my question! And even if we end up disagreeing, that's okay! We live in a world where it should be okay to disagree with people and still respect them as a person. I hope to hear your thoughts on what I just mentioned!
I understand fighting against censorship. In America, we live in a country where you are allowed to write about (almost) anything you want to. The fight here isn't against banning the books from shelves in general, it's banning them from libraries in elementary schools or in classrooms for young kids. If there's someone who doesn't like the book and wants it removed from everywhere just because they don't like it, that's a different problem. But most of what I've seen and heard from parents who want these books gone is that they want their children protected from sexually explicit material. Just because it's "progressive," doesn't mean your book gets a free pass to market itself to whatever age group you want. Notice how almost every single book on this list is cited as being sexually explicit? Why are we okay with age restriction on movies, songs, and tv shows but not on books?

This is the second story Jon Rettinger has shared on his YouTube channel that almost ended his career. As an entrepreneur myself, I am thankful for people like him to share his experiences. It shows that even though our system isn't perfect, there's potential to take your idea and create a real business from it. Even better, it shows the impacts your business can have that extend far beyond the actual idea or product being sold.
We live in a time where very few people have any sort of work ethic. I think a lot of that stems from social media influencers and YouTubers becoming so successful. People don't seem to understand the effort that those who make it in this industry have to exert and the sacrifices they had to make to get to where they are. Many are not respectable but Jon is one that I regard very highly. He and others like him pioneered the tech "journalism" space, an industry that has always fascinated me and I'm thankful for his story.

I just discovered the Statement on Social Justice and the Gospel, created and signed by pastors like John MacArthur and Voddie Baucham. I agreed with it so I started searching for critiques of it. This is one of the best responses I've read to CRT and social injustices in America, as well as how Christians should handle it.

God, you are good. You sustain my life. Everything good in me comes from you and nothing is found good in me without you (Psalm 16:2). I wake up in the morning with life in my lungs because you allow it. I am your creation and I am created for your good works (Ephesians 2:10). Without your death on the cross I am dead in my steps. They amount to nothing without your divine intervention on behalf of me and all sinners. Without you, I'm headed towards Hell. Hell is eternal separation from you and with [you], all good things.
This world loves death because they suppress your truth. Sin reigns supreme in their eyes because you have given them what they want (Romans 1:22-25). Without you, this is me. I am nothing and have nothing apart from you.
*I don't know who needs to hear this this morning. I've often heard people angry at God or distrust Him because the pain we have experienced in our lives. Above is the reality and it's experienced through Him alone. A masterful painting has little value apart from the name of its artist. A song, book, or poem speaks little on its own but garners praise for its creator. *

Spread of Christianity
I had an interesting realization today. Our pastor was giving a sermon on John 3 (you know, the most popular verse in the Bible: "for God so loved the world that He sent His one and only Son..."). Anyway, he made a small point but it struck a chord with me. He said something about Christianity spreading into multiple countries that have previously been steadfastly against Jesus and His Church. It made me realize that as an American, sometimes it's easy to view Christianity as a white, American religion. At least that's what the media and politicians want us to believe. Christ is so much bigger than America and the Bible speaks to all worldviews. It infiltrates even the most unexposed areas of the world and is growing dramatically in Africa and China.
He mentioned a story of a Turkish Muslim who became a Christian and when asked about it, he said that all he had to do was start reading the Bible and get answers to his questions. Once that was possible, he believed. The Bible is reality. It is not some fairy tale that cannot be put to the test. The Bible wasn't even written to Americans. It was written to the Middle Eastern Jew. But it WAS written FOR us all. Every single individual in any stage of life, in any country, with any worldview.

Been fighting off the noise for the last two weeks. I got short a little early and was able to manage my risk alright. I ended up averaging up some of my shorts and cutting some others until it was safe to get back in. The S&P had struggled to make new highs all last week yet there still seem to be plenty of people claiming to "buy the dip." The risk to reward for shorts here greatly outweighs the longs. If it were to break out through resistance, one could simply cut their losses and look to re-enter long. Now if you bought up here on the long side and it failed to break out, how far would you allow it to drop before cutting your losses? People buying SPY at 430 would have had to let it drop to 422-423 before confirmation that the trade was done but people shorting from 430 would have needed it to break through 432 and hold to confirm they were on the wrong side of a trade. It's foolish and this is how you lose money.

Gotta love the antiwork subreddit. I can't even engage in a thoughtful conversation with people as the sub doesn't allow "pro-capitalist" content. It's just an echo-chamber for people who see someone else's wealth as a reason why they cannot be successful. Who cares if there are people out there who have massive sums of money that you will most likely never have? As long as you can pay your bills and have an occasional vacation, I'd say you're doing pretty well. If you can't, then maybe it's time to put forth the same effort you use to complain into looking for a different career path. Come up with an idea, market it, sell investors on it if you need capital. You don't need millions of dollars to start your own business.
