Statue of San Catharina Da Siena near the castle, Rome, Italy Saint Catherine (1347-1380) was the daughter of a prosperous Sienese cloth dyer. At the age of six, she saw a vision of Christ and thereafter dedicated herself to chastity, penance, and good works. She became much beloved in Siena for selflessly caring for victims of the Black Death.

Ocean pocket shrine

I discovered pocket shrines recently. It seems like a nice and soothing crafty thing to make. I just started my first one; it's an ode to ocean, with seaweed, shells, and a piece of polished glass, that I gathered at the sea. There's a photo of one of my favorite places at the center, a verse from a poem and a siren that I drew. Now I'm slowly sewing it all together, with small pearls and lace.

Iris Chrysopteros

(χρυσόπτερος "golden winged")

Goddess of the rainbow and personal messenger of Queen Hera. Her name contains a double meaning, being connected with the Greek words iris "the rainbow" and eiris "messenger." She can travel on the rainbow bridge to deliver messages from the gods.

In flower language, Iris symbolises hope, wisdom and trust. They bloom in early summer, butterflies and hummingbirds love them.

Either they'll give you a new perspective on things, or you'll become more secure and confident in your current beliefs. But avoiding the hard questions leaves you in an echo chamber with half-baked ideas and an insecurity in yourself. Step out of your comfort zone so you have room to grow.

i never feel like i belong in any one religion, with any one religious or spiritual belief. i love Jesus and the saints and all the angels in heaven and i love Iris, my lady of the rainbows and clouds and i love Apollon and Artemis and i love finding the magic within me and finding the love and balance of all that is around me in nature. i am so so small in this massive universe and these gods are man made but they are so much more than us and the universe and all the planets exist for none of us but we are a part of it all regardless. i do not know where i belong and i yearn to.
