Kataang = Sparity
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are people that ship Spike and Rarity but I'm not one of those people.
I interpret their relationship being platonic yet unreciprocated romantic love, Spike having puppy love for Rarity but her not sharing the same feelings. She loves Spike in a friendly, familial type of way, appreciating his assistance and defending him when need be.
Tumblr media
I think having these dynamics in children's shows is important for teaching how to cope when our affections are not reciprocated. Most of my childhood, I had a crush on one guy that never felt the same way towards me. To say the least, how I handled it wasn't good.
It was such a missed opportunity to venture into the drama of the fallout between Aang and Katara then reconciling after. I will never forgive the creators for making a movie instead of the 4th season.

I love these. It helps remind me that I don't have to be a perfectionist. You can capture the character in other ways.

How to Outline a Story
#1. Brainstorm
Start with a blank document, usually titled something non-committal like “Free Write” or “Brain Dump,” and jot down any and all ideas you have. If it helps, you can start chronologically with the basic premise of the story and then build off of that. Eventually, you’ll have a whole bunch of little data points that you can start connecting. Try to keep things super short in this phase, but don’t limit yourself if you feel like writing more.
Here are a few examples of what that might look like:
MC goes to town, but then they meet someone else ("what are you doing here?”)
MC spills their coffee on their sweater in shock and embarrasses themselves in front of the whole town
TIP: Try to capture as much of the vibe and general tone of the story as possible. So if you think of any quotes, images, little scenes, etc., include those here to remind yourself of the tone later on.
#2. Basic Organization
So you’ve got the general idea, now it’s time to put it in the right order! There are plenty of story structures out there you can use, with varying degrees of complexity and difficulty. The only thing that matters is what works for you, your story, and your work style.
Here are a few examples:
3 Act Structure
5 Act Structure
Save the Cat Beat Sheet
Dan Harmon’s Story Circle
NOTE: Sometimes the structure of your story will already be obvious by the time you’ve finished brainstorming. If that’s the case, go forth and outline as you see fit! If not, start with a story structures, and then branch out as you become more familiar with the story and where you want it to go.
#3. Get Inspired
At some point in the outlining process, you will realize that your plot is missing something, or you don’t know what to write for a key scene. IMO, there are two ways to handle this:
Start writing: Sometimes you just need to start writing the story, and the plot hole will sort itself out! You may start writing, and a piece of dialogue or object will inspire you.
Look for inspiration: Read, watch a show or movie, listen to music, go for a walk and people watch, whatever you do, you need to be receiving some fresh input that gets your creative gears turning. Your brain will keep working on the story in the background, and you can return to your outline with fresh eyes and new ideas.
Other useful tools: Pinterest, Instagram, Libby, TikTok, Spotify
#4. Key Story Elements
Every story will vary, but these are things every plot should have (in my opinion):
An interesting beginning: Captivate your reader from the first page!
Conflict that matters: The central conflict of your story must matter to readers, or they won’t keep reading.
Related subplot: What’s better than one plot? Two! This adds complexity while still furthering the main storyline.
A satisfying ending: It doesn’t have to be happy, but it must leave your reader with a sense of satisfaction, or they won’t want to read anything else you write.
For more information, check out my “Things Every Story Should Have” post (coming soon!), where I go into each of these in more depth (and with examples!).

Because I'm Big, Blond, and Beautiful
Tumblr media
you can draw any character fat even if they aren’t drawn that way in canon. including women. and you don’t just have to draw the shy reserved woman as fat you can also draw the woman who is confident in herself and her appearance as fat too.

Every month is Zutara month for me, whatchyu talking about? Lol
Zuko having beefy arms caught my attention. Maybe with more practice, I could draw muscles close to this. I need to crack out my anatomy study book.
Tumblr media
Zutara Month day 14: Wet ✨
Not the official month‼️
I make Zuko have beefy arms because I draw DBZ men and they have muscles. It’s hard not to. 😭😭 also if you recognize the pose, that’s because I used a ref for help.

Fanfic Development - Witches and Sorcery
Book 4: Air, the Missing Element (a fanfic)
I've said in the past I wanted to make Jun a member of a Ba Sing Se based gang that spanned the Earth Kingdom but that didn't sit right with me. I mainly wanted to make her tattoo a symbol of some sort. Why else would the animators show her tattoo in select full-screen scenes otherwise? I believe it was supposed to be a hint of something to come. But Jun is characterized to be an independent woman that goes by her own rules. I don't think she'd be part of a gang.
So then I thought... WITCH!
Tumblr media
Growing up in the US, I learned of the witch trials in both European and American history. Recently, I got to wondering if China ever had something similar and lo and behold, they did. In the resources that I found, they called them Sorcery Scares. More on that later.
Let's say after a sorcery scare, witches would have to hide their practices and find other lines of work to make money. I imagine Jun could be clairvoyant which she could use in her bounty hunting business alongside her shirshu's scent tracking abilities.
Look how she fights the people in the tavern. It's like she knows every move they are going to make before attacking her. She dodges with relative ease, performs counter attacks, and throws up her drink and catches it. Other than being a bad ass martial artist, what if she was using her clairvoyance in this scene?
And how she teased Zuko and Katara about being boyfriend and girlfriend. What if she can see the red string of destiny with her clairvoyance? She can see a future of them being together or at least sense that Zuko has feelings for her. This would strengthen my Zutara endgame hints in my fanfic, of course.
Tumblr media
Now by making her a witch, I could make the tattoo a symbol of the big spirit she follows, Vatuu, the destroyer. She uses a skull decal in her hair, symbolizing her association to death.
In many Eastern philosophies, destruction and death is just as important as growth and life. Without destruction, there cannot be progress. When Shiva halted his duties of destruction due to grief, the world was frozen, no new life could come forth, no progress, no change. Plants grow using the nutrients from the dead and decaying. The seasons are a constant cycle between life and death, hot and cold. We need to tear down antiquated ways and build anew from the rubble. This is also seen in Taoist philosophy as well. ☯️
Airbenders and Sorcery
Tumblr media
I read the above passage and stopped when I saw "transient monks" followed by "execution". This then led me to think about the airbenders.
What if the Fire Nation perpetuated a sorcery scare, accusing the Air Nomads of malicious sorcery?
Continue reading for more tangent plot bunny shenanigans
We saw in The Headband that the teacher said that the Air Nation was forming an army, which is blatant propaganda in school.
I'm not one to bring up the comics usually but in the comic Katara and The Pirate's Silver, in the B plot, Toph, Sokka and Aang captured a Fire Nation soldier. This soldier was spewing propaganda malarkey and Aang tried to deprogram the soldier, make him see that the Air Nomads were not the enemy.
The soldier accused the Air Nation of plotting to take over the world and that's why the Fire Nation had to take up arms and save the world from the evil airbenders. When Aang helped him remove a leaf from the guy's face using airbending, the soldier yelled, telling Aang to get away from him with those demon air powers. He followed this up with "I know all about the dark abilities you airbenders had!"
I'm also not a big fan of The Legend of Korra but I think hints of the lost 4th season are hidden inside the show. In season 2 of TLOK, the writers associated Chief Unalaq, a waterbender, with spiritual pursuits. Yet in season 1, it is stated that airbending had a spiritual component which Korra lacked. What if the spiritual bad guy was supposed to be originally a radicalized airbender?
It would make sense that the airbenders would be more connected to spirits. In the comic The Rift, it was shown that the Air Nomads would travel to sacred locations to appease the spirits, keeping the peace between the realms.
Aang may have mastered airbending techniques but we know he was lacking in spiritual matters in The Winter Solstice: Part 1. This was likely caused by Gyatso's reluctance to accelerate Aang's lessons, wanting him to have a chance at being a normal boy. Even in The Rift, a flashback of Gyatso had said that Aang had plenty of time to learn about spirits later. But then Aang ran away, got frozen in an iceberg and the Air Nomad genocide happened.
If the Fire Nation caught wind of the Air Nomads communing with spirits, they could've morphed it into the Air Nation forming a secret spirit army of demons (aka dark spirits) and planned to dominate the world with them.
This sounds an awful lot like a sorcery scare.
And not only were the monks targeted but other marginalized groups of people like women, especially independent women.

The writing for NATLA is piss quality, I don't even care if it's a Zutara endgame cuz it'll be a crap journey getting there. I can't get past the character assassination for everyone.
Kataang shippers are currently making up conspiracies that NATLA is going to have Zutara as the endgame, so they can blame all its flaws on that. But when Kataang ends up being endgame, just watch how those same shippers will gaslight everyone into thinking anyone who believed Zutara had a chance was delusional and that the series’ problems have nothing to do with Kataang.

At the end of Book 3, the fandom asks Bryke what is Katara's ending (that scene from Barbie)
Katara Stans: Hey, what about Katara?
Bryke: What do you mean?
Katara Stans: Yeah, what about Katara? What does she get? What is her ending?
Bryke: Oh, that's easy. She's in love with Aang.
Kataangers: Aww
Zutarians, Single Katara & Sapphic Katara stans: No, that is not her ending.
Bryke: [grunts frustratedly] No! She's supposed to be with me- I mean Aang!

I'm sorry Sokka, the leg has to go for ✨character development✨
Book 4: Air, the Missing Element (a fanfic)
At the end of Book 3, Sokka gets his leg injured and has to use a crutch. Originally, I was just going to give him a forearm crutch or a cane and a leg brace.
But I think I want to take it a step further and let Sokka be a representative of veterans who have lost their limbs while in the line of duty. Not only that but he would be a representation for others with disabilities to relate to.
Sokka already had the symbolism of being disabled, being a nonbender in an element bending world but he made up for it in his ingenuity and cleverness.
Tumblr media
Sokka's arc is also learning how to be a great man and leader. He started off as a sexist jerk but he gets humbled, learning that his masculinity doesn't come from putting down women. Then he struggled with public speaking, inspiring and leading others. When the chips are down, he takes the initiative and takes the reigns, the pressure pushing him forward.
At the end of Book 3 would be a perfect place to throw a curveball into his arc for character development. Sokka had worked so hard to become a great man and leader when suddenly his leg was injured beyond repair during Sozin's Comet. Now Sokka must relearn what it means to be a man given his amputation.
I can imagine Sokka inventing prosthetics for himself so he can run again.

Saving this for my ATLA fanfic... I'm making Admiral Zhao and Professor Zei a couple
Show where two side characters are never stated as a couple but whenever the main characters stumble upon them they're standing a little too close and quickly separate like nothing was happening but they're very suspicious and it's never addressed

I was thinking of DoorDashing a meal but then I thought, wait a second, I got an avocado, half a dozen eggs, mayo, and bread. I made myself some avo egg salad sandwiches and they were gooooood.
I'm curious. Reblog this if you know how to cook
I don’t even care if it’s macaroni, ramen or those little bowls you stick in the microwave. Please, I need reassurance that most of the population on tumblr WOULDN’T STARVE TO DEATH if their parents couldn’t fix them food or they couldn’t go out to eat.
